Picked up this odd, ugly, oversized thing in a discount rack b/c despite its Marion County textbook design values and absurd title, the text is written by an eloquent and highly regarded brain researcher. This combination of "for dummies" format and deep, thoughtful text was perfect for me b/c I knew very little about neuroscience yet didn't want some watered-down gee whiz tour of the grey matter (though it was a pain in the ass to read on the subway, and entertainingly conspicuous:-).
