I am definitely a sucker for anything that promises 'traditional food' or 'home cooking' from a cultural cuisine mostly known in North America through restaurants. I'm also a fool for the contemporary aesthetic of the rustic, the heritage, the chiaroscuro, the bare wood family table, the corner bistro with the chalkboard menu where the owners' teenagers wait the tables. I was every little story the author told with each recipe. He brings Spain alive through food and the photography is stunning. Many of the recipes have very hard to find ingredients in the US. I have not have not tried any of the recipes, though I tabbed over a dozen pages. If you want to understand the gastronomy of Spain and how it fits into the culture, this is a great book for that. One of the most exciting Spanish cookbooks I've seen! Great traditional recipes and descriptive writing that reminds me of my time in Spain. Highly recommended for aficionados of Spanish cuisine.
