Charlotte Tasker has always been a good girl, so she married the most decent, reliable man she could find even though their love life was a bit on the predictable side. Thirteen years later, she's a widowed mom who runs her company, prepares three vegetarian meals a day for her children, and volunteers for just about every good deed in town. But no one knows that Charlotte ...more

I give this one 10 stars!! :D I'm adding Susan Donovan to my auto-buy list from this one book alone. I hope several of her others are half this good! I, as well as the heroine Charlotte, are both in love with DEA Agent Joe Bellacera! *deep sigh* :)

Agent Joe Bellacera, after years of infiltration and undercover work, has nabbed one of the biggest drug lords anywhere. Unfortunately, after seeing his partner and his partner's wife and child murdered while awaiting testifying at indictment of the d

5 stars – Contemporary Romance

I loved this! Joe is such a sigh, drool, lust, swoon, and husband worthy hero!

The heroine’s extreme horniness was hilarious...and justified with a sexy, sweet studcake like Joe living next door!

A punching bag. The guy was pounding on a punching bag. That realization took about a nanosecond to register in her brain before the real important information came to the forefront: LoriSue, God bless her slutty little soul, had been absolutely correct. He was male-strippe

The best book by Donovan yet. A woman who really enjoys sex has a wild one night stand with a mysterious stranger. 13 years later he shows up in her town...she is a widow with two children and he is under witness protection.

5 Stars! Another great book by the amazing Susan Donovan!!

Every time I finish a book by this author, I think she can’t top this one, and then she does it again!! Susan Donovan's books have the hottest, most delicious heroes, and some of the funniest, quirkiest heroines. Joe and Charlotte are no exception! Loved how they first meet....YOWZA...I never expected that! They cross paths years later, and during the time apart have both suffered unbearable losses. The connection and undeniable chemistry

Properly motivated characters are a big deal to me. Characters don't necessarily have to do what I would in given circumstances, but their decisions have to fit with who THEY are. I never completely believed the set up that a 22 year old virgin would stop on the way to the airport to pick up the man she knew was about to propose to have sex with a stranger she sees in another vehicle. (That's not a spoiler; that's the setup.) Yet everything that follows hinges on this. All the justifications tha ...more

2nd best book I have read this year!!! It would be first but Coming Undone was just too good.

It is really about second chances and the one that got away. I recommend it to anyone looking for a well written romance with just the right amount of heat and a sinfully sexy hero!

I contemplated between 3 or 4 stars for this book. I hate that you can't do 1/2 stars.

In any case, I really enjoyed the overall story of the book and all of the characters. Susan Donovan does a great job in writing about her characters (the main ones as well as the secondary ones). Yes, is the story a bit far-fetched that someone would seriously pull over at a rest stop and have sex with a complete stranger - you betcha, but the book is fiction people. The parts of the book about Joe's life and

Lumayan menarik.

This is one of those books that makes me wish for 1/2 stars, because I'd probably give it 2 1/2. It's not that I didn't like it, but that it was kind of boring... I liked the characters okay, but they were more caricatures than interesting, real people. The story was basic romance - predictable, but that's okay, I expected that. It was just kind of blah - again, not a bad book, but not an exciting one, either.

This one was pretty good. It was good at parts, it was interesting and fun to read, I did like the characters. Although it didn’t get me real worked up or anything.

I did like Charlotte and Joe’s attraction, their relationship growing. Their feelings were believable to me, and they were good for each other and to each other. I particularly liked Charlotte’s sexual troubles from her previous relationship and how Joe helped her with that. That kind of t

This is my first book by this author, so I was not sure what to expect. I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised, as this was not your typical romance plot. I am not sure I really bought into the way Charlotte and Joe originally met. Come one, who really meets on the highway and then pulls over and has totally hot, incredible sex with a complete stranger in broad daylight? So, once I got past that part, I found Charlotte and Joe so appealing, and was invested in their romance. With Joe being ...more

I didn't exactly finish this book. That's the only reason I am rating this 2 stars. If it held my interest more, so that despite skipping ahead and reading the ending, I would finish reading the entire book, it would be 3 stars.

In the flashback, Charlotte, our heroine, slept with (sorta, since it was on the side of the road) Joe before she is engaged to her long-time boyfriend. Since then, neither of them could forget each other. So fast forward 13 years, and they reunite in one of the worst cir

After my serious love affair with A Courtesan's Guide to Getting Your Man, I committed myself to reading more of each author.

Public Displays of Affection is the story of Charlotte & Joe, two people that first met on the side of a road and had a crazy-hot sexual encounter, then parted ways. Charlotte went off and married her sweetheart while Joe threw himself into his career as a DEA agent. Fast forward thirteen years and Charlotte is widowed and struggling to keep herself emotionally afloat.

This is my first Susan Donovan book and it is awesome. I'm putting all her books on my to-read list. Public Displays of Affection is a great blend of humor, sex and suspense. It also touches on some very serious matters like the death of a spouse, the guilt of survivors, the awful drug trade and the heroes who fight it.

Charlotte and Joe had an intense sexual encounter 13 years ago. They parted not even knowing each others names. The experience was life changing for both of them. Fast forward 13

This was an exceptionally difficult book for me to rate. Susan Donovan's style is witty and humorous, but in this particular book, the characters were a let down for me. It felt calculated rather than organic- the heroine a byproduct of guilt for possessing a sexual nature and the obsessive need to be above all a 'good mom', and then the hero lacked almost entirely a character at all, being relegated to a sad background story and a fantasy man who seemingly spends all his time mooning over the g ...more

For my first book that I've ever owned & read as a romance novel. I say for me personaly, I give it a 5 star. Hey.. What can I say? It was my first book & I couldn't seem to put it down half of the time. LOL. It was interesting.

Charlotte Tasker was a simple good girl. Who would've thought that a quiet girl like her would have so much sexual secrets. Reading this book kinda made me feel what she felt. I mean, sexually. [*gigglz*] She ends up having sexual moments w/ this guy name Joe Bell

Well, well, well, well. The only word to describe this book is "Yowza!" This book absolutely steams.

Basic Premise: The heroine has a one night stand with a man just before her boyfriend proposes: years later, after her husband has passed away, the one night stand moves in next door.

This description doesn't even do this book justice. This is a one-night-stand for the ages--and we get bits and pieces of it splashed throughout the book--from both characters' perspectives. It has some of the steami

Not bad, not great, though there seemed to be just too many stereotypes and roll your eyes moments. Still, some parts were cute and funny and it had some danger and suspense in it, since the hunk is a DEA guy who's hiding out in suburban Ohio until the $1MM price on his head from a Mexican drug lord is removed. Joe has moved in next door (unknowingly) to the hot babe (now widowed soccer mom) he'd had anonymous, mind blowing, best sex of his life with (she was a virgin, no less!) 13 years earlier ...more

I picked this up from the library thinking it was a different book and realized I read it already. i didn't really feel the need to read it again.
I loved the set-up for the story. They have random sex on the side of a highway because she doesn't want to only have had sex with the guy she's about to marry. It's super hot (of course) and then they don't meet until years later when he's a cop and moves in next door to her house in suburbia. She's now single with kids and sparks fly. They have sex

Definitely falls under the "fluff" category, but I liked the storyline - girl has a random fling with a guy, can't stop thinking about him for 13 years, and low and behold, he shows up on her doorstep without warning. The ending felt really hurried, and I wish there had been more time devoted to the guys who are after the love interest instead of the main character fighting with herself and her attraction to her long lost fling. At least the characters were likable, and I was eager to see how th ...more

There where some happy tears, some sad tears, some laughs, some suspense, a lot of swoon worthy moments & some steam!! All in all a very good story and romance. The only reason this book didn't get 5 stars was because there was some confusion for me while switching POV's. I would be reading and then all of a sudden I was confused and then I would realize the POV had changed?? I would heaved liked an indication that it was changing but for some reason in the Kobo version I down loaded it just ...more

I really enjoyed this book the first time that I read it and have since re-read it a few more times. The plot line is a typical romantic/suspence one where it isn't impressively complex or intriguing but it definitely keeps you reading. I think that it is the relationship of the two lead characters that I love the most. Their lives changed dramatically between their first meeting and the present setting of the book but their feelings for each other have remained and I really like that lasting co ...more

I felt that this story started out with a bang then left me hanging for awhile. It just seemed that no matter what these two characters did to try and get together they were always interrupted in some way. Yes she has two young kids but come on. You mean to tell me she couldn't find at least a few hours? Her neighbor was a willing babysitter. Once they hooked up all was well, it just took awhile to get there.

Fantastic work, Susan! I usually dislike romance stories because of the juvenile characterizations, but Charlotte and Joe don't deny their love--so refreshing to have an adult relationship! There was much more focus and time devoted to their mutual attraction than to the conflict which I also greatly appreciated, not that the conflict wasn't expertly written. Thank you for an outstanding model to follow.

Finished Public Displays of Affection by Susan Donovan. Ehh. I loved the first two books I read by her, but this one wasn't nearly as good for me. Maybe because there were so many holes in the story. If I roll my eyes several times in the first few chapters because of an improbable plot, I can't enjoy the story. Unfortunately, even the characters weren't good for me.

Who hasn't had a tryst that they relive in a fantasy! This book has so much to offer on top of some great rolls in the honeysuckle. The fun loving busy mom Charlotte is a great character some wives with a high sex drive can't help but relate to. Match her up with an Italian stallion and some very detailed writing and you are sure to have sparks flying. Delicious!
Christine
A really nice read. I generally like Susan Donovan's work, and this book is no exception. You don't really learn much about Joe, the hero. He's likeable enough, and of course brave and protective. You learn more about Charlotte, and although it's done a little heavy-handedly, it was refreshing to see a female heroine learning to come to terms with her sexual self.
Wendy
For a book about a DEA agent with a million-dollar bounty on his head, I feel like the writing could be tighter in that aspect. Especially the parts about when Joe was forced to tell Charlotte about his real career. It didn't sound very realistic that Charlotte accepted it rather easily when the conflict had been building up for almost the entire book.
