I finished this book in less than 24 hours. I was anxious to see what would become of the final brother; Quinn MacLeod. The first 2 books had me wanting for more; this one not so much. Don't get me wrong I did enjoy this book but, I was a little disappointed. I will first explain the issues that I had with this novel. First, I know this may sound small but, I had a hard time picturing what Quinn looked like. It was easy for me to imagine the first 2 brothers, Lucan (Billy Wirth when he was in Lo ...more
I liked this story a LOT. The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars was that it was set basically in one place however there was enough action to keep the story moving despite this.
The paranormal elements again in this story were really good. There was just enough heat to make me happy and the love scenes where done well. The story it self was very good and the ending left me happy and wanting to read more. I'm very glad that this series is going to continue on with the other Warrior's

Oh lord I loved this book.... AT first I wasn't so much a Quinn fan but wow have I changed my mind! Quinn couldn't have had a better heroine than Marcail, the Druid. I'm so looking forward to Donna's next book "Untamed Highlander"!!!!

Quinn MacLeod, the youngest of the three MacLeod brothers, has been captured and imprisoned by the evil drough Deirdre. Though Quinn knows his brothers will come for him, Deirdre has upped in her game of torture and wants Quinn to give her a child. Deirdre has also captured another druid, but oddly enough she did not kill this one to drain their magic. Marcail isn't as fluent in her magic as she should be, Deirdre knows she has the spell to bind the gods inhabiting the warriors, but it's buried ...more

I was so super excited when I received an ARC of Wicked Highlander. Of all the MacLeod brothers, I immediately fell for Quinn, the youngest.

He's lost a wife and a child, and has never quite forgiven himself for their deaths. Because of his grief and guilt, Quinn has a hard time controlling his inner god. So as happy as he wants to be for Lucan and Cara, he's tormented by his guilt and jealousy and ultimately he decides that some time on his own will do him good.

Only, immediately after leaving, h

I just finished reading Donna Grant's "Wicked Highlander", her third book in the Dark Sword series. I loved her characters. If you are new to this series, you should start with Dangerous Highlander then Forbidden Highlander. You will understand better the story of the MacLeod brothers and their Warriors friends. The most reckless and fierce of them, is Quinn. Deirdre made her palace in the mountain where she keeps Quinn prisoner because she wants of child of him. Because, h
This has quickly become a favorite series of mine. Historical paranormal romance - LOVE the genre! I must admit that I did enjoy the first two books a little more than this one. I think it was because I was so looking forward to Quinn's story that I was expecting a little too much. There was great chemistry between the leads, and I was glad to see the first two brothers also make an appearance. I'm thrilled to know that Donna Grant will be continuing this series with the other warriors who have ...more
Strange. I want to know what happens next, so I kept reading, but I don't like the writing. I like the world that miss Grant created but I find a lot lacking in the writing. I really can't understand why other reviewers give such high scores. Then again, they'll probably don't understand me.

I really really hate her dialogues. It is often silly and feels more like a page filler than anything else with repetition on repetition. Like (this is made up, but could have been in the book):

Quinn MacLeod has been captured by the evil Drough, Deidre, and she has imprisoned Quinn in her mountain. She has thrown him into the pit with the other Warriors she’s trying to break and plans to keep him there until he will agree to bed her and give her the child of prophecy. The child that will house all the evil of the world and will help her in her quest to rule the world, with Quinn by her side of course!

I loved this book! This story picks up with Quinn MacLeod, the youngest of the MacLeod brothers. At the end of the first book, Quinn is taken captive by their enemy Deirdre in order to fulfill a prophecy. While Quinn's brothers try to arrange his rescue, he is imprisoned in the Pit and is fighting to survive. While there he finds the one woman who may be able to save his soul and give him back his life.
My favorite of the series so far. Hard not to read in one session. These books just fly by in about 4 hours or so for me. Quinn meets Marcail, a Druid in Diedre's dungeon, The Pit. Good blend of romance and plot development, which is significant. A ton of action and intrigue (spies!). Love the idea of the Warrior compound at the castle. Leaves lots of room for further books.
I found I have less interest in this series as it goes on. It feels just far to slow and a bit boring to me. I found myself skipping ahead with this book just to find out what happened. Not sure I would bother with the 4th book that is due out later this year. Problem with that is, there are characters I like and want to know where they end up and how the story ends.

oops, haven't been on here in awhile it seems, finished this in september LOVE This entire series. This comes out tomorrow. Definitely a must read series. And I am not just saying this because Quinn is mt sooper seekrit husband. Can NOT wait for the next in this series, seriously.
I absolutely love this series. Finding that all of the Heros/Heroines house a God that most consider a demon of mass destruction is a bit fresh in concept. I commend Grant on her free thinking for each story bringing a fresh idea to each character and making certain to include those who came before. I can't wait to read about Hayden since his HEA includes a drough (and by the looks of the except I read it will be Isla). Diedre may be dead according to everyone who escaped the mountain once show ...more

This is the third book in the series, and it's Quinn's book - the youngest of the MacLeod brothers.

At the end of book 1, Quinn was taken prisoner by the evil drough Druid Deirdre, who long ago discovered the secret scrolls containing the spells that would unbind the gods that traveled within the bloodlines of certain clans. When the Celts were unable to fight off the Romans, they banded with the Druids; the drough (black magic) Druids used a spell to bring the old gods from Hell to inh
The third times is a charm. Ms. Grant knocked this one out of the park. Quinn's story had more dimension and overlapping plot layers than the previous books. Quinn was captured in book two and is now being held prisoner by evil Druid Diedre. While imprisoned, he saves the life of a female druid that Diedre threw into the pit were Quinn and other warriors are being held for additional punishment. The woman didn't stand a chance of surviving had Quinn not intervened. So once again 'instant love' t ...more
Quinn Quinn Quinn. You sure proved your metal and worth didn't you? Trapped by Diedre once again in her mountain, Quinn really shows what he is made of and it's hard not to love him. Not only does he establish dominance, he quickly turns some of the warriors to his side as friends. Insert, or more like throw (literally) Mercail into the mix and things really get interesting. Watching Quinn come to terms with his protective and other feelings for Mercail is wonderful but somewhat sad. There may n ...more

First off, let me say that I recommend you read this series in order as the stories flow from one to the other. If you start with this book you would likely feel like you were starting off in the middle of a larger storyline. While you might not be lost, the emotional investment in the characters would be missing and the story would likely be lacking.

I really enjoyed the first two books in this series, but I have to say that this one is my favorite.
"Wicked Highlander" by Donna Grant. Book 3 in the Dark Swords series.

I really enjoyed Quinn and Marcail's book. It starts off with Quinn as we last left him, stuck in "The Pit" in Deirdre's (evil Druid) mountain. She is collecting good Druids to steal their magic from them. But she can't steel Marcail's magic because she has a protective spell around her that kills anyone who tried to kill/hurt her. So, Marcail is then dropped into "The Pit" with all the Warriors Deirdre has put in there to try
Wicked Highlander was wickedly fun to read. Another great one. So much went into this one.

In this one we got to see what Quinn and any other Warrior and Druid went through in Deidre's mountain. It was heartbreaking at times but it was captivating and very moving. The emotions going through all of the prisoners were so strong and different between each of them.

Quinn's story was the most emotional from the other two. He's already had trouble controlling his god so when he was captured Quinn really
Goodreads recommended Midnight's Master Dark Warriors#1 based on books I had read. Wouldn't you know it I fell in love with all of the Warriors! Since then I have been obsessed with Them and their Druids. I had to go back to the Dark Swords Series to quenched my obsession and satisfy my withdrawals. Of the Macleod brothers, Quinn caught my interest and his mate Marcail.

Wicked Highlander was beautifully written. This novel took place in Deirdre's Cairn Toul Mountain where Warriors and Druids wer
Talk about super freak Diedra, desperate for Quinn's baby. But I think the prophecy was for Quinn's baby, not Diedra... maybe not guess we will see. I know it seems hard to believe two people could fall in love with the world falling apart around them... but then again... it is something that happens a lot. Kind of let's not hold back and savoring the last of life when life and death balance flows from moment to moment. I liked this one. Quinn and Marcail were awesome.
This was another good book in the highlander series. I like that this is an interesting mix of historical romance and paranormal romance. This book was a bit darker than the last one I read, but that just made it better. I really liked Quinn and found him to be a lovely character to read about. I also really liked Marcail (a Druid who has an ancient spell buried in her mind), I haven't read that much with Druid's so it was interesting to see this author's perspective.

In this book, Quinn is still

Loved this book! At the end of Dangerous Highlander, youngest MacLeod brother, Quinn is taken captive by the evil druid Deirdre in order to fulfill a prophecy. Good druid Marcail is caught and tossed in the Pit with the warriors. Deirdre is hoping they'll kill her since she cannot or she'll die. Unfortunately for her, Quinn is a real man (one who protects women) and saves Marcail instead of killing her. And everything flows from there.

This is paranormal romance at it's best. Well done Ms. Grant
Enjoyed this one more than the first two, but there were definitely some disappointments...especially the weirdness of jail love scenes. That just bothered me because it could have waited. I found myself liking the secondary characters more than the main ones, so now I'm looking forward to #4.
What can I say......I liked this book and was looking forward to reading Quinn's story. And I wasn't disappointed. But there were times I was like "really?? You want to do that now???" Pfffsstttt We got to see just how twisted Deidre was (as if we didn't know that, I know, I know) and was shocked that Isla's little niece was so evil. Who else hated Wiliam?? The jerk, I wasn't sure if he died all the way or not but I hope so. As for Deidre, I have a feeling shes not dead, just a feeling I have. D ...more
A different setting but very good continuation of the series. More characters are fleshed out. Obviously there will be a many more books.
I did not like this book as well as the first two. I had to keep forcing myself to pick it back up because I wanted to know what happened.
