I hate to give this book 4 stars, when I was so disappointed with the ending. More specifically, with the way things were left unresolved with certain characters. I realize that the author was setting us up for yet another 4 book series, but I felt cheated. I had spent my time reading the 4 novels that make up the Above the Line series, fully expecting the characters to be reconciled, only to find out they were not. It was heartbreaking.

However, I felt convicted by the books and appreciate her...more

Awesome book about redemption and how adoption can be a wonderful option. Andi was going to have an abortion until a gentlemen talked with her, an angel in disguise. Andi was afraid to tell her parents or anyone. She struggled with what to do and finally they found out first. They accepted her back home and they all waited for the delivery. Andi delivered the baby and the same day handed the baby over to be raised in the Baxter family. Cody was having trouble with his mother. Right at Thanksgivi...more

I have read all of Karen's books, and I love this series because the characters feel like friends. I have read about their lives for three different serieses, and I feel like I know them.
Without giving away too many spoilers, I want to say how pleased I am with the way the movie production storyline is progressing! It's encouraging for characters to make the right decision. In addition, the Bailey love triangle storyline took a turn in the right direction.
I should not have read any reviews of...more

How can I write a review when it feels like I am saying goodbye to my family? I truly can't without tears in my eyes! Once again, Karen Kingsbury has concluded another one of her wonderful Life-Changing Fiction and it will be forever in my mind, soul and heart.

In this amazing conclusion to Above the Line series, we get glimpses of the past and the future in these families. On top of all that we feel God's arms wrap around us and promise us wonderful new things, evening if we have to say goodbye...more

Am I surprised at another fantastic book from Karen Kingsbury? No, not at all. As a matter of fact that’s why I love Karen’s books. Each and every one of them is spell binding. I want to read them in one sitting, but also don’t want the book to end.
This book tells us of the continuing story of Keith Ellison and Dayne Matthews as they make their second Christian movie. How they believe that making movies is their mission field.
Then we read about Brandon Paul, America’s newest heartthrob who wil...more

There will always be a special place in my heart for Karen Kingsbury's novels. Particularly her older books. Though I still read everything she releases, I have noticed her new novels now carry more of a saccharine tone to them. And her characters, particularly Bailey Flannigan, often feel a little too good to be true.

When the Baxter series first started, I was entranced by this family. I wanted to BE a part of the family, or at least a friend of the family. They were just that real and that wo...more

Ok, so I loved this one too...even though the whole Bailey/cody thing is beginnning to wear out some. Part of me wants her just to dump cody completely because he hasn't even allowed her into the part of his life that his mother is destroying, but the other part wants me to root for them. But, now that things have changed with Brandon Paul, who knows what will happen in the series with Bailey and Cody that she is coming out with next. I do love the story of Andi and her baby. I cried when Tommy...more

Does the author's apology for not resolving things (in FOUR books) make it o.k.? Not really. Cody has become obsessively humble and seems to have an inferiority complex, or he just doesn't trust Bailey to be mature and understanding. Or both. She should be furious at his attitude. I am tired of the whole drama with them and his goody-goody-only-what's-best-for-her idealism. It is just too much.
That being said, I still enjoyed the book very much. Just wanted the series to be over with in the fou...more

This is an interesting close to her Above the Line series with Bailey Flannigan cast as the lead in Dayne's and Keith's movie Unlocked. She stars opposite Brandon Paul a teen actor who is caught up in scandal with his partying lifestyle before filming even begins. Cody Coleman is also in the picture as a good friend of Bailey's even though they both have deeper feelings for each other. However the two of them are kept from being romantically involved because of circumstances on both sides. It wo...more

I really have enjoyed reading about the Baxter and Flanigan families. I truly believe there are people in the world who love God the way these families do.

It is also so true what can happen to young adults who go off to college and may not be ready for all the things that can take place while they are there.

I have also enjoyed the connection between Cody and Bailey. I understand that this is fiction, but I just wish Cody would see that everyone has baggage. He just needs to give him and Bailey...more

Love it just like the entire series. I was sad to find out that this was the last in the series but glad to hear that she is going to continue with Bailey's story which ofcourse will still talk about the Baxter family and Flannigans so that's good. I wonder if I will ever get tired of reading this series. What I love most about them is how much I feel God's presence when reading them. It is the best form of Bible study for me than any Bible studies I have ever done. I recommend them to EVERYONE!...more

As my favorite author, Karen Kingsbury always delivers an enjoyable read. Her latest, fourth, and final book in the Above the Line Series is certainly no exception. I was a little upset at the ending because some very big loose ends were left unfinished until I read that she is starting a new series next year starring Bailey Flanigan to continue her story line. She also mentions that she will be coming out with a stand-alone book called Unlocked which was the movie being filmed in the Above the...more

This was a great climatic way for Karen to end this series. She left closure with Brandon Paul and the Elisons. However, she left Bailey and Cody not at a happy ending.Which obviously helps lead into her next series abour Bailey. I also found interesting that Karen alluded to her own book. I read this after Unlocked came out and I had read it. It would have been a nice preview to see what the book was about. I also see the resemblences between Karen's fixtion families and her own family. Foe exa...more

As always, Karen does an outstanding job of showing how her theme of Jeremiah 29:11 is played out in the lives of her characters. This book was not as gripping as many of her books but was more in the category of a "good story" rather than the edge-of-your-seat-life-changing fiction for which she is noted. I have some questions about the time lines which I plan to re-examine because it just doesn't seem to fit together as it should. (Once I resolve those questions, my rating on this book may be...more

Loved this book! It's a satisfying end to the Above the Line series, although I'm super anxious for the Bailey and Cody books to come out next. I am glad this author continues to write about the Baxter family and continues to introduce new friends.

I did find a few typos (quotation mark missing, period with an extra space, and even once it said Ashely and Dayne were married.). I guess with the volume of books this author puts out it's to be expected? But I really thought a good editor would have...more

I so wanted to like this book more than I did. That said, in a series this long, it's likely that some of the books just won't resonate as much as others do.

I know she's just setting things up to start her new Bailey series, but dragging the Cody/Bailey relationship out and rehashing basically the same storyline over and over with them is getting old.

The other storylines are touching and great though, so it's definitely a worthwhile read if you've read others in the series.

I really enjoyed this series; getting to know new characters, but still having a connection with the Baxters and more development of Bailey & Cody's characters. I wish all high school girls could read about Andi Ellison! I have been catching up with Kingsbury's Baxter family series through our church library...which happens to be very good! However, I read "Coming Home" before starting the Bailey Flannigan series...so now I know who Bailey chooses! Oh well!!

Take Four is the end of the above the line series, which makes it both satisfying and sad. It ties up several loose ends from the previous books, but leaves enough questions that I cannot wait to read the Bailey Flannigan series. As always, Karen Kingsbury addresses real issues and shows God's work in every situation of life. This book shows God bringing beauty from ashes in such a touching way...read it with tissues nearby. It will touch your soul.

The fourth and last book to the 'Above The Line' series, ending another season in the lives of the (ongoing) characters from Karen Kingsbury's writings. Her works are no different from watching a family-oriented television series whereby one follows the characters development over the years. As always, her writings cannot be read without tissues on hand -- that's what makes them so very good -- because they are so real, so relateable.

Love Karen Kingsbury! Everything she writes touches my heart. There's always love and family issues that need resolution. God is always the center of that resolution. She has a way of sharing scripture that brings it to a new light for me. I just plain feel good when I read her books. They are an easy read...a curl up in your favorite chair and just enjoy! Although I personally didn't enjoy the Take series as much as her other books.

I am not one to usually give such low ratings, and I usually love Karen Kingsbury, but I was so disappointed with this book. Actually I was so mad it took all my willpower not to throw it across the room. I was so upset about how things were left unresolved in the end. And I downright resented having Karen Kingsbury again, try to pull me into another series. No thank you. Donating the series to the church library.
Jen
I love karen kingsbury and this series. I was so excited to get this book in my hands yesterday. I'm looking forward to reading the book and discovering the message in it.

I finished the book and I enjoyed it. My only issue is I am getting tired of Bailey and Cody together, not together. Because of this I am a little hesitant to read her next series centering on Bailey. I am looking forward to Unlocked in the fall.

SPOILER ALERT:
I have to admit I was about to throw the book at the end, when it didnt end! Bailey was the reason I wanted to read this, to find out, did her and Cody FINALLY end up together. Then it just dumps you! After reading the authors notes at the end, I realized that she is starting a new series with Bailey as the main character in it. I am ok with that! Besides that, it was a good book, and dont take how long it took me to read it as a bad sign, life just got busy, thats all. Was this my...more

It was wonderful. The Ellison's dreamed of changing the culture through the power of film, little did he know God had better plans. That was to do it a little at a time with Brandon. I was worried at first like Keith was but as I continued to read I saw God working on Brandon when he first saw Bailey's picture on facebook. It is a toss up between him and Cody. I don't know what to say about Cody. I feel sorry for him but then he upsets me when he gets right at the end and then clam up, but I do...more

This book was OK. I waited awhile to read this 4th and final book in the series. I felt that the twists at the end were far-fetched but I really love this author. I am glad that the next book is a new series because this one ends on an OK note. Hopefully, the next one will be better. Still it has a good message about loving God and living a life that listens and responds to what we hear from Him.
Karen
I loved this whole series. I loved how when the christian characters are faced with tough choices they turn to God for answers. When they don't do this and ignore the voice of God the characters usually end up making bad choices and suffering consequences. But in the end God is waiting for us to come back with open arms.
