When I first started this book, I wasn't expecting much. However, the characters and the storyline took me by surprise and was definitely way more fulfilling than most books of the Harlequin nature. I am hoping to get my hands on the prereuqisite books that have to do with Cynthia's sisters because this Merritt sister surely won me over and the brooding rancher did the same. The writing was excellent and I think this is the first time I've given a Harlequin such a high rating.

This contemporary romance was short and sweet. I instantly liked the characters, but didn't always agree with the heroine's reactions to the hero's antics. She had a touch of "doormat" syndrome that didn't exactly go well with her persona, given she is supposed to be an intelligent politician. Luckily, she showed backbone by the end.

A little slow in beginning but not a bad book

I write funny, tender romance novels for Harlequin Superromance and Love Inspired Historical.

My next book to be released is That New York Minute, out in April 2012.

I like to set aside some of my writing time for experimental projects - I'm currently trying my hand at a humorous women's fiction novel, and I also finished a Young Adult manuscript.
