I have been a customer of cookbook author Aviva Goldfarb for years -- she has a service called The Scramble which provides weekly recipes. The reason I've been getting these recipes for years is because they are just really, really good. So when I found out Goldfarb had a new cookbook out: SOS! The Six O'Clock Scramble to the Rescue, it really didn't matter to me that the subtitle was "Earth-Friendly, Kid-Pleasing Dinners for Busy Families." As some of you may know, I am a faithful follower and subscriber of the Six O'Clock Scramble recipe service. It's meal planning in a weekly email that provides simple, delicious recipes and shopping lists for those busy, crazy family weeknights (or whenever). The Scramble has helped me put dinner on the table every night at 6:30 for the last 4 years! And over these years, I have become (virtual) friends with the founder/author, Aviva Goldfarb. If ever there were a perfect cookbook for me, this is it. The recipes are not only fast and simple, they're seasonal and local as well! (And no weird foods or ingredients.) I checked this one out from the library, but I'm either going to have to buy it or join her online menu planner to get her weekly menu plan and customized grocery list.

Great recipes and quick which is exactly what I need at the end of a long day. I haven't tried all of them but the ones I have are excellent and healthy!

solid, basic recipes. lots of meat, but not in a bad way. organized by seasons and interspersed with helpful tips, anecdotes, and ideas. a great book for someone who is interested in ways for their family to eat healthier without sacrificing cost, flavor, or too much extra time.

Not too many really new recipes to me, but there were a few good ones I plan on trying. Not everything is vegetarian but some good options and some interesting sounding recipes (eggplant w mint and chickpeas, gnocchi w greens).

I'm a huge fan of The Scramble and this book is even better than the subscription service--chock full of wholesome, simple, tasty, and easy fare.
