I won this book on Goodreads 1st reads. I didn't give it 5 stars because I agree with what someone else said that alot of this is common sense. Although, it would be great for late teens, early twenty's type woman that are still maybe learning about makeup, hair, and fashion. Some of the clothes tips to me are geared toward this age group, or at least one's that are fit and trim. Even though I know alot of the makeup tips, there are a few things I've learned, and enjoyed looking through those pa...more

This book is pretty much exactly what you'd expect. It's full of obvious advice catering to upper-middle to upper class thin whiteys. The tailor made advice even extends to her giving tips for short legged girls and girls with curly hair, and no tips for anyone of other leg height or hair type. Of course, Lauren Conrad would know more about these things because that's her life, just like the book maps out HER style. Despite the narrowness, it was a nice read. I'm glad she kept anecdotes on the d...more

After reading through the reviews, I decided I needed to get a fair review out there. Would you go to a hair salon that specifically caters to women who have curly hair when you have stick straight hair that doesn't hold curl? (the answer is no, you would not) Then why would you pick up this book, with a girl who is famous for being famous and knows exactly how to dress to her tastes and style? While I believe that it would be cool for a Style book to come out where it crosses race, body types a...more

Okay, if you want to read a book about Lauren Conrad (I'm still not entirely sure what she is famous for, but I know she did a reality TV show and I THINK designs clothing for Kohl's) I'm sure you could enjoy this book, at least a little. But problematically, it's marketed as style/fashion advice for everyone, and it is amazingly NOT for everyone. It's like she wrote a book of fashion advice for herself. She only recommends things that she looks good in and likes, such as skinny jeans and super...more

I love Lauren Conrad's style (and I thought that she had studied fashion???), so I was excited to read this book. Although there was some interesting and useful information, I was generally disappointed.

Although Conrad tries to hide the fact that she is a spoiled rich girl, it is very apparent anyway. I guess I was more annoyed by her attempts to appear normal (she claims to be so embarrassed about how much she spent on a dress, that she will not disclose how much it cost) than if she had just b...more

I'm probably the last person to care SO much about fashion but the lying-around Lauren Conrad book was just begging to be read and well, you know, I couldn't really say no to an offer like that. I took it as a green light to up my knowledge; it should help me with my kind of job.
The style guide isn't for everybody but it could be really useful. On page 7, it shows the seven key pieces every girl should have in her closet (of which I only had two, YAY! AT LEAST!). There were also tips on how to p...more

this book was everything i wished derek blasberg's trainwreck "classy" would have been. LC gives tips on looking classy (down to how much cleavage is acceptable- i think it was 3/4 of an inch but didn't bother to remember because i don't have any cleavage) without being a jerk, proving that she (unlike my mortal enemy blasberg) actually IS classy.

that said, there weren't many surprises in here. i only learned a few things i didn't already know, but teens should find fresh knowledge. the book cou...more

So I got this book for Christmas and read it that day. The first time I saw it was in a Teen Vogue issue, and I didn't pay much attention until I saw it at Borders. I looked through it and thought, "Wow, I need to get this book!" So I told my parents and they got it for me for Christmas. And i was EXCITED. But overall this book was amazing! It has so much information on style and I really enjoyed and learned from it. Considering I'm so into fashion and style, I loved it! Also, this is more of th...more

Surprisingly I really enjoyed this book. I have a secret addiction to style shows and on occassion even attempt to ramp up my own wardrobe. I also really love Conrad's line at Kohl's, but I was unsure of what to expect from this book. I was really pleasantly surprised. I anticipated alot of plugging her own line, instead I found really well thought out guidelines for making the most of your wordrobe. Conrad highlighted differnt articles of clothing instead of brands and I found that to be really...more

I won and received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads. So what’s my verdict? I really enjoyed this style book; Lauren Conrad completely put her passion for fashion and her unique taste for shoes and styling in this book. She goes over everything including tips on everyday wear, the perfect little black dress, rocking leggings and pencil skirts, to styling your boots with the best outfit. What I liked about it the most is that she gave helpful tips for women who loves to shop and ju...more

Lauren Conrad has always been a fashion icon, but now she is a business woman. She is launching new clothing styles and is becoming very successful. In her book, she gives advice on style from the 5 must-haves in your closet to make-up to how to pose for the camera. to what to wear for a job interview. She covers all spectrums of style, not just what you can wear. Seeing her in the media and how she always looks so perfect, makes a reader want to pick up her book to see how she does it...more

First off, I must admit that I have no clue who Lauren Conrad is. A brief glance at her Wikipedia page gives the impression she's used her famous-for-what? reality star status to amass a miniature empire of fashion lines and book deals. So what am I doing reading a book with her name and face emblazoned on its cover? I've become quite a fan of her recently launched Kohl's line and several pieces have already ended up in my closet. Why not give her fashion-focused book a chance?

True to its title,...more

Sadly, like my females from early teens to late twenties I love Lauren Conrad's style and make-up looks. I've only ever seen a handful of episodes of The Hills but I always loved the way Lauren looked and wondered what her fashion tips and possible tricks would be so I really hard to buy this.

I found the overall layout of the book to be quite nice but a bit bland and sparse in sections. However I really like the fashion tips and ideas Lauren put into this book. I did expect a bit more than the s...more

I've always loved Lauren Conrad's style and this book is a really good reference to have with plenty of advice and top tips without trying to remove your own unique style.

For me, the key pieces or basics where quite helpful as I often fall into the trap of buying something and never wearing it. And Lauren looked simply stunning in all the pictures!

I liked how it wasn't just aimed at girls or at women. She adressed all ages from school wear to work wear with tips that everyone could use. And I l...more

Lauren Conrad is best known for her effortlessly chic but casual looks. I was pretty excited when it finally arrived, since I'm into her style. For me, someone whose native language is not English, it was very easy to read through it. The writing is simple since it's also a book of advice. I kinda got bored after a while but kept reading in hope there is going to be something interesting and new. Since I've already been into fashion for a while, this book is more like a little read-through with...more

Lauren Conrad is totally unknown to me, I haven't watched the Hills and her style hasn't been that different from others that I would've paid attention to her in the few fashion magazines I read. I picked the book up from the library because it has been a great seller at work and I wanted to know what all the fuss was about.

I can imagine the book being a great fashion guide for a teenager or someone a bit lost in their personal style. The key basics are something told over and over in other guid...more

Ehh, this book was okay. I've watched LC on Laguana Beach and The Hills and love her. But her book honestly was just alright. I'm a fashion addict, and I thought that there were some useful tips in her book such as how to wash denim jeans, and how to organize a closet, but I thought that the book was more suited towards teenagers or pre-teens who are just starting to get into fashion or who haven' t started getting into fashion yet. (It basically says all the facts you already know. Buy lots of...more

I have heard and read so many bad reviews on this book, and so was nervous about buying it. I love Lauren Conrad and fashion, so I really wanted to read it. I love this book though, and don't really see why it has such bad reviews. It has so many great tips for packing, organizing, and splurging vs. saving. I found the book to be very helpful to me and also to be well written. I loved the pictures and just really everything about the book. One recurring aspect that I have seen in other's reviews...more

I've never read a style book before but I picked this one up from the library because it looked kind of cute. While it was definitely very cute (I really enjoyed the layout and the pictures), I felt like it wasn't that easy to relate to. The majority of the people reading this book probably don't have the expendable income to tailor every item in their wardrobe and buy Chanel purses. The whole time reading it, I just felt like a gorgeous skinny rich girl was giving me advice on how to dress--whi...more

As someone who has never been a fan of Laguna Beach or The Hills (I've seen maybe 3 episodes total), I've still been able to appreciate Lauren Conrad's sense of style. I think she almost always looks fantastic from head to toe. Gorgeous hair, great makeup, and amazingly fantabulous clothes. Conrad's style book takes you through the basic pieces you should have in your wardrobe, how to mix and match prints, and how to select the perfect style of jeans. Additionally, she suggests shopping methods,...more

This is definitely not the usual kind of book I review. I jumped at the chance to get a copy though because I love doing makeup and hair and I was curious to see what Lauren had to say about that. I also love Lauren Conrad and her style is amazing (in my opinion) and I wanted to see what tips and tricks she could give me.

First: the style. I enjoyed learning about the staple pieces everyone should have and also how to hem jeans (which I didn't know how to do properly). I found organizing my close...more

Style, by Lauren Conrad is a non fiction book in which she expresses her perspective on many topics of personal style. These include Building a Wardrobe, Mastering your Closet, How to Shop and many more.

I personally love Lauren Conrad's style which allows me to fully enjoy this book but it does not only focus on her style but developing your own personal style. She starts with baby steps that make it almost impossible to fail.

The way Lauren Conrad writes this book is almost like you’ve known h...more

I'm a closet fashionista, no pun intended. My interest in fashion lead me to buy Lauren Conrad's "Style" on a recent trip to Barnes & Noble. While I know virtually nothing about this Hollywood starlet, I was attracted to "Style" on the recommendation of others as well as the nice layout of the book itself. It was a short and enjoyable read, with only a few cons to prevent a full five-star treatment.

The book is divided into various chapters, where Conrad addresses a wide variety of topics. Th...more

This book is amazing. It can sound kind of stupid considering your taking advice from a TV star who has plenty of money to spend on anything, but it was actually benifical. It taught me better ways to look at how you like to dress, and that you don't always have to follow fashion trends to be "in style" whcih is something i feel way to many people waste time and money on. It's a great book if you know what you like but aren't really sure how you can make it work and not look like you got dressed...more

I actually really liked this book, it's different than other fashion books. Conrad didn't try to sound glamorous and didn't have that I am above you connotation, too many of these books have. Her writing was relatable, humorous and had a real voice. The advice given was very handy and I learned a thing or two.

This book just isn't about clothes, it's about the entire package. Conrad addresses each aspect of style like hair, nails, make up, even a section on taking pictures. She hits the notes th...more

It is like a teen version of Allure magazine - if there were such a thing. An all-in-one place source for the makeup and style tips we already know. I say we because clearly this book is written to an audience of style lovers, hence its aptly title. I expected a little bit more, because I don't feel like I learned anything I didn't know. It would be a good book for a teenager looking to start crafting her own style; whereas I am in my early 30's and for the most part have it figured out. For $9...more

Warning: This review will be short!
My opinion on this book is that it has soooooo many tricks and tips for fashions, hair, makeup, lifestyle, work, and school. The size is good and comfortable. My only con for this book is that it seems like Lauren didn't know what audience she was writing for. The book talks about the little black dress, heels, and handbags for adults. The book also features an article for school. So I'm a little confused. Also, in the hair section she has styles for girls in m...more

this is a good book. it is about how to have your own style, what to shop for, how to make different pieces work for different outfits. lauren conrad, from the mtv show The Hills, is the author. she talks about what it was like to try to find something different to wear everytime she went out. she said having camera's always on you makes it important to not wear the samething twice. thing's that make this book unique would be that it's about her own personal style. she explains "how to shop," a...more

I really enjoyed this book expecally since all i live for is fashion clothes and makeup her book was certainly helpful in every aspect of those things. I felt like when i finished the book i had learned something about fashion i like that her book wasnt just about the facts but she gave her opinion and connected with the reader and whatever there style type was she didn't change it but she gave you more tips and recomendations than anything i loved the makeup part of the book and i thin...more

I'm not super knowledgeable about make-up and fashion, but I do love watching videos and reading books from time to time. I find it fascinating and love finding out little secrets and trying them out myself. I like Lauren Conrad so I had somewhat high expectations for this book, but it left me disappointed. I found a couple things helpful, but honestly most of it was common sense. A lot of it also seemed way too out of my price range spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars on a couple dresses,...more
