I won this book on Goodreads 1st reads. I didn't give it 5 stars because I agree with what someone else said that alot of this is common sense. Although, it would be great for late teens, early twenty's type woman that are still maybe learning about makeup, hair, and fashion. Some of the clothes tips to me are geared toward this age group, or at least one's that are fit and trim. Even though I know alot of the makeup tips, there are a few things I've learned, and enjoyed looking through those pa More...

I love Lauren Conrad's style (and I thought that she had studied fashion???), so I was excited to read this book. Although there was some interesting and useful information, I was generally disappointed.

Although Conrad tries to hide the fact that she is a spoiled rich girl, it is very apparent anyway. I guess I was more annoyed by her attempts to appear normal (she claims to be so embarrassed about how much she spent on a dress, that she will not disclose how much it cost) than if she More...

I'm probably the last person to care SO much about fashion but the lying-around Lauren Conrad book was just begging to be read and well, you know, I couldn't really say no to an offer like that. I took it as a green light to up my knowledge; it should help me with my kind of job.
The style guide isn't for everybody but it could be really useful. On page 7, it shows the seven key pieces every girl should have in her closet (of which I only had two, YAY! AT LEAST!). There were also tips on how More...

this book was everything i wished derek blasberg's trainwreck "classy" would have been. LC gives tips on looking classy (down to how much cleavage is acceptable- i think it was 3/4 of an inch but didn't bother to remember because i don't have any cleavage) without being a jerk, proving that she (unlike my mortal enemy blasberg) actually IS classy.

that said, there weren't many surprises in here. i only learned a few things i didn't already know, but teens should find fresh kno More...

So I got this book for Christmas and read it that day. The first time I saw it was in a Teen Vogue issue, and I didn't pay much attention until I saw it at Borders. I looked through it and thought, "Wow, I need to get this book!" So I told my parents and they got it for me for Christmas. And i was EXCITED. But overall this book was amazing! It has so much information on style and I really enjoyed and learned from it. Considering I'm so into fashion and style, I loved it! Also, this is More...

Surprisingly I really enjoyed this book. I have a secret addiction to style shows and on occassion even attempt to ramp up my own wardrobe. I also really love Conrad's line at Kohl's, but I was unsure of what to expect from this book. I was really pleasantly surprised. I anticipated alot of plugging her own line, instead I found really well thought out guidelines for making the most of your wordrobe. Conrad highlighted differnt articles of clothing instead of brands and I found that to be really More...

I won and received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads. So what’s my verdict? I really enjoyed this style book; Lauren Conrad completely put her passion for fashion and her unique taste for shoes and styling in this book. She goes over everything including tips on everyday wear, the perfect little black dress, rocking leggings and pencil skirts, to styling your boots with the best outfit. What I liked about it the most is that she gave helpful tips for women who loves to shop and ju More...

First off, I must admit that I have no clue who Lauren Conrad is. A brief glance at her Wikipedia page gives the impression she's used her famous-for-what? reality star status to amass a miniature empire of fashion lines and book deals. So what am I doing reading a book with her name and face emblazoned on its cover? I've become quite a fan of her recently launched Kohl's line and several pieces have already ended up in my closet. Why not give her fashion-focused book a chance?

Sadly, like my females from early teens to late twenties I love Lauren Conrad's style and make-up looks. I've only ever seen a handful of episodes of The Hills but I always loved the way Lauren looked and wondered what her fashion tips and possible tricks would be so I really hard to buy this.

I found the overall layout of the book to be quite nice but a bit bland and sparse in sections. However I really like the fashion tips and ideas Lauren put into this book. I did expect a bit more More...

I've always loved Lauren Conrad's style and this book is a really good reference to have with plenty of advice and top tips without trying to remove your own unique style.

For me, the key pieces or basics where quite helpful as I often fall into the trap of buying something and never wearing it. And Lauren looked simply stunning in all the pictures!

I liked how it wasn't just aimed at girls or at women. She adressed all ages from school wear to work wear with tips that everyon More...

Lauren Conrad is totally unknown to me, I haven't watched the Hills and her style hasn't been that different from others that I would've paid attention to her in the few fashion magazines I read. I picked the book up from the library because it has been a great seller at work and I wanted to know what all the fuss was about.

I can imagine the book being a great fashion guide for a teenager or someone a bit lost in their personal style. The key basics are something told over and over i More...

Ehh, this book was okay. I've watched LC on Laguana Beach and The Hills and love her. But her book honestly was just alright. I'm a fashion addict, and I thought that there were some useful tips in her book such as how to wash denim jeans, and how to organize a closet, but I thought that the book was more suited towards teenagers or pre-teens who are just starting to get into fashion or who haven' t started getting into fashion yet. (It basically says all the facts you already know. Buy lots of More...

As someone who has never been a fan of Laguna Beach or The Hills (I've seen maybe 3 episodes total), I've still been able to appreciate Lauren Conrad's sense of style. I think she almost always looks fantastic from head to toe. Gorgeous hair, great makeup, and amazingly fantabulous clothes. Conrad's style book takes you through the basic pieces you should have in your wardrobe, how to mix and match prints, and how to select the perfect style of jeans. Additionally, she suggests shopping meth More...

This is definitely not the usual kind of book I review. I jumped at the chance to get a copy though because I love doing makeup and hair and I was curious to see what Lauren had to say about that. I also love Lauren Conrad and her style is amazing (in my opinion) and I wanted to see what tips and tricks she could give me.

First: the style. I enjoyed learning about the staple pieces everyone should have and also how to hem jeans (which I didn't know how to do properly). I found organizin More...

This book is amazing. It can sound kind of stupid considering your taking advice from a TV star who has plenty of money to spend on anything, but it was actually benifical. It taught me better ways to look at how you like to dress, and that you don't always have to follow fashion trends to be "in style" whcih is something i feel way to many people waste time and money on. It's a great book if you know what you like but aren't really sure how you can make it work and not look like you g More...

I actually really liked this book, it's different than other fashion books. Conrad didn't try to sound glamorous and didn't have that I am above you connotation, too many of these books have. Her writing was relatable, humorous and had a real voice. The advice given was very handy and I learned a thing or two.

This book just isn't about clothes, it's about the entire package. Conrad addresses each aspect of style like hair, nails, make up, even a section on taking pictures. She hits More...

Warning: This review will be short!
My opinion on this book is that it has soooooo many tricks and tips for fashions, hair, makeup, lifestyle, work, and school. The size is good and comfortable. My only con for this book is that it seems like Lauren didn't know what audience she was writing for. The book talks about the little black dress, heels, and handbags for adults. The book also features an article for school. So I'm a little confused. Also, in the hair section she has styles fo More...

this is a good book. it is about how to have your own style, what to shop for, how to make different pieces work for different outfits. lauren conrad, from the mtv show The Hills, is the author. she talks about what it was like to try to find something different to wear everytime she went out. she said having camera's always on you makes it important to not wear the samething twice. thing's that make this book unique would be that it's about her own personal style. she explains "how to sho More...

I really enjoyed this book expecally since all i live for is fashion clothes and makeup her book was certainly helpful in every aspect of those things. I liked this book for what it was. I've read many style/fashion books before, so a lot of the things that were mentioned in here were not a surprise to me, but it was still informative and those who haven't read a lot of books about fashion would get some good, clear information that can help them build a wardrobe. I loved the pictures of some of Lauren's outfits. Inspired me and made me want some of those pieces! I did learn some new things in the make-up section, that I have applied in my More...

What REALLY would've made this book amazing was more pictures, tutorials and outfit/hair/makeup ideas.. or, you know, more than (like a few other reviewers mentioned) really, achingly basic "advice" that's pretty common sense.
It's a cute book, but definitely geared toward a younger audience that's just stepping into their own style for the first time. I'd LOVE to see Lauren write a second book more in a how-to vein... cute hairstyles, outfit ideas, etc. that's geared more toward More...

As a lot of girls, I love Lauren Conrad's style. She is always looking amazing and gorgeous : clothes, hair, as well as make-up.
I really admire her, so i decided to buy this book (a type of book i'm not used to read), and i have to say i really enjoyed it.
The book is divided into three parts :
- Fashion, in which she gives tips about organizing your closet, how to shop, what are the key pieces you should have in your closet, etc.
- Beauty : Lauren explains how she does More...

pretty pictures.

i appreciate that conrad took the time to write about how to dress for work, etc. for the teenage set. cardigans are your friends! cover those shoulders! etc.

but it seemed a little obvious, and didn't have a lot of lauren herself in it, i felt. it was almost too pretty and glossy.

and maybe it's just me, but i think she looks a little weird on the front cover picture . . .

nice to have in libraries though, i think. good resource for teens More...

I love, love, love this book! I usually hate fashion magazines and books, because they perpetuate so many negative ideas and ideals about women and their bodies. But this book is an every woman's guide. As I said in my currently reading review this book is big on clean illustrations and lite on jargon. It is something that not only catches the eye, but allows a reader to pick and choose sections at leisure.

This book is a great fashion resource. It is not constrained by current tre More...

I was pleasantly surprised with this book, I bought it because I liked Lauren on The Hills, and the book was on sale. However, this is actually a really fun, down-to-Earth guide about style, and more imporantly, YOUR style, not Lauren's. I also liked the way it's been tweaked for UK readers, with the prices. If you liked Lauren on the show, definitely get this book because she retains her relaxed, friendly style and this book could prove a useful go-to source if you're having a fashion dilemma.

I think this is a great book for young adults! It puts manners and classic style in a way that a young adult would pay attention to. For me I knew a lot of the information already.. what shoes you should always have in your closet, what dresses you should always have, how to take care of your make-up brushes and information like that. If I had a teen girl in my life I would get her this book!

Lots of neat tricks, tips, and advise that can be used for young women (and some young men), but very similiar to several other style books. The RR will definantly switch back and forth between chapters, which is especially good for the reluctant reader. The text is a bit wordy, but again readers will find themselves jumping chapters. Also, the cover of the book does not stand out. I would never have picked this book up, if it wasn't recommended.

I really enjoyed how she was giving tips on basic clothing items to have in your closet, even though she is a celebrity and public figure she was very practical. She gave tips on how to save money.

I have always been a fan of Lauren Conrad, and I want to get into the fashion industry when I'm older. I wasn't to sure on getting this book until I did, I really enjoy it. I keep going back just to help myself pick out clothes for the week.
