Recommends it for: beginning readers and parents reading with them
Goofy story, but a simple way to emphasize a particular sound, in this case, the long e sound. The illustrations are colorful and cartoonish and the narrative is good for beginning readers. Our youngest read this aloud with me and I think she liked it. The "Phonic Facts" were a bit distracting so we ignored them and I looked at them later. Probably would've worked better at the end or in the beginning. The questions at the end were good and the "Long-e Cheer" was cute and served to reinforce the ...more
