Shelves: meagan, adult
Libraries are full of hidden treasures: amazing books with beautiful photographs and interesting facts that aren’t always found because they’re shelved in a strange spot, or have unappealing titles, or any number of reasons. Take Records of Our National Life. It’s not the most appealing title, and as for its shelf location – you can find this little gem somewhere between the books on computer programming and the books on philosophy. Shelves: nonfiction
This is one of those books that I think most people will never even realize exists. It's not the kind of book that I can envision your average neighborhood bookstore keeping on the shelf. (An expensive coffee table book about the National Archives doesn't exactly scream "sales!") It's precisely the kind of book to get from the library, but it ends up shelved somewhere between the books on computer programming and the books on philosophy - not prime browsing space.
