This was an ebook with two "novella" length stories that take place in the 19th century. The first one concerns Superintendant Runcorn, one of Ms. Perry's regular characters, who is on holiday in Beaumaris, on the Isle of Anglesey. He discovers the body of a murdered woman and though it isn't his jurisdiction, ends up lending a hand in solving the crime.

The second story is about Emily Radley who has apparently also featured in Perry novels in the past, helping her sister solve crimes in conjunct

A great work.

This was a type of book that was hard to put down. The writer kept you guessing all the way through. The story also held a great message about doing what is right.

Both novellas are inventive and different from other Christmas books. However, I would prefer more Christmas and a little less mystery. I love the Victorian era.

A very enjoyable read - no one captures Victorian England like Anne Perry. Well written and with the attention to detail that one expects from Perry, as well as the intrigue of the social situation.

Tried the Christmas series. They were OK. Not as good as Monk or Pitt series.

I bought this book several years ago, and decided to re-read it as part of my holiday reads.

Both novella's are engrossing; Anne Perry captures the scene of a Victorian holiday, while adding a murder mystery to each story.

She captures the emotion of the time while transporting you to the frozen landscape of December in England.

A good book for a weekend in front of the fire with a nice hot cup of cocoa.

Stories set around Christmas are another chance to emphasize a cherished or celebrated aspect of the holiday. Anne Perry's Christmas tales follow this tradition, with Victorian-set mysteries that ask her characters to change and to live into higher values than are comfortable.
