Give My Regrets to Broadway: A Chet Gecko Mystery (Chet Gecko Mystery)
by
Bruce Hale
In these two wickedly funny, criminally punny mysteries from Chet Gecko's tattered casebook, the detective and his trusty mockingbird associate, Natalie Attired, keep law and order in the halls of Emerson Elementary.
It's no mystery: Chet Gecko can't sing. He can't dance. He can't act. Heck, he can't even act "normal," So why would he take the lead in Mr. Ratnose...more

"Somebody's inivisible flying elephant really needs a handkerchief." Hale repackages Philip Marlowe as a elementary-aged Gecko lizard with a horrific penchant for puns and an addiction to over-the-top similes...and it works. Nine books into the series the plots may be even thinner (and more obvious) than they used to be, but Hale's still getting by on charm and good fun. Fluffy, fluffy fun, particularly for parents who might be noir fans.
I liked the front cover because it copies inside the book. And Yes, there was slime.
It was pretty good and all it was funny.
One of my favorite series as a kid.
I like his lingo............

Bruce (charming cheetah) Hale spends much of his time pouncing on pesky balls of yarn and raiding his neighbor's catnip garden. To relax, he perches himself in his living room window and basks in the rays of the sun in Santa Barbara, California.
