Okay, I'm giving this a four star, though it deserves a three star. Wait, that sounded cruel. What I mean is, this book has a lot going for it, not the least one being the amazingly perceptive understanding of being trans and gay. Cute and short and sweet and yet very very important. The fear of letting people know who you are, just showing ones ID is a big deal, a dangerous deal. But the writer needed a good editor and I'm sad he didn't get one.

Author Serena Yates told me she'd read this book but gave me no details. It's a very short story but one that surprised and delighted me. I don't want to spoil the nature of the surprise because for a minute there I had no idea what was going on. Therefore, the revelation both packed a punch and made me like Randy all the more.
I never, ever post reviews here, just give ratings because I am truly pushed to the max with deadlines but I wanted to give G.R. Richards some props.

Vintage Toys is really just a short, sweet conversation between Randy, who wants to see some vintage toys in order to get money for his moms Christmas gifts, and Max, the owner of the antique store. Randy has a big secret, one that Max figures out fairly quickly. He offers Randy support and acceptance, and it was really a lovely thing.

I just going to agree whit one of the reviewers I didn't now what was going on either.
Weird story, no necessarily bad. Even though this is one of those stories that it really need it to be longer.
