Story line for this book is based on a woman that lost her young daughter to a serial killer years ago. The loss coupled with not knowing where her daughter is buried of course haunts her. She does facial reconstruction of skeletons found to help other families have closure, but never seems to get it for herself.
A ravine is flooded and several bodies are found ... will her daughter be one of them? Will the discovery make the killer surface?

I saw the twist at the ending coming, but I...more

WOW, i LOVE the twist at the end of THAT one!!!

still involved the government, to some extent, but not quite the usual "conspiracy" angle she usually writes about. nice change!

of course, i'm now stuck! i'm in the middle of the series, and the next book is STILL missing!! thankfully, i have MUCH to do, but that book better arrive before the library shuts down for 4 days, or ... i'm going to be in trouble come Friday, when things slow down a bit aound here. AAAHHH!!!

Surprisingly, I really didn’t care for this. This is the first book in the Eve Duncan series I’ve read, but I don’t think missing that first book is why I didn’t like it. I just didn’t relate to Eve, and maybe my brain kept wanting her to be Eve Dallas. All of her relationships with other people seemed awkward. I also expected the forensic sculpting to be a larger part of the story. I won’t bother with the rest of this series.

Johansen has really put a lot of thought into her Characters, and I love that she uses some of the same charaters in other books,

For Eve Duncan

The Face of Deception
The Killing Game
The Search
Body of Lies
Blind Alley
Countdown

the Characters will flow better if you read them in this order.

I liked this book a lot, but the style is just like her first one, so I found it a little more predictable. I'm going to read a book in between the other Johansen books and see if that will trick my mind into not over analyzing teh book. Still, I did like this book and would recommend it.

I have many of Iris Johansen's books on CD, thanks to my sister. And I really enjoy her books while traveling! A little language here and there is the only thing that seems to be a problem, with little ears in the back seats. But they are good books.

I'm really liking these books on CD. I get my work done and can listen at the same time. I researched all the books of Iris Johansen so I could start at the beginning of this series and know who went where and how and why...

I could not put this book down. The emotional development of the main character, Eve Duncan, hooked me more than the mystery itself though the ending took me completely by surprise. This was definitely a fun read.

A creepy, cat and mouse thriller. A serial killer who is bored decides to up the ante by baiting Eve (whose daughter he supposedly killed years ago). It's entertaining, not just a typical serial killer novel.

I really enjoy her books, the thrilling mystery and forensic side of things adds a great flair to this series of books for her and I can't wait to see how it all falls out for Eve, Joe and the gang.

I actually had nightmares form this book! I don't know why it really affected me. Serial killer has a target and talks to her about it. A little predictable (slightly) but still pretty scary!

Fun murder mystery books with strong female characters.
For some light, mind candy type reading, all of Iris Johansen's books are good.

Once again, Brain Candy. A lovely woman with a tent one space over from mine in VT gave it to me to read while I was suntanning.

Loved the whole Eve Duncan series. This was the first but as the series progressed, it was fun to see relationships develop.

Anything by this author is fabulous. Look for character Eve Duncan who is a forensic sculpture. You won't be dissabpointed.
