This book on first read does not make sense, but the longer you are married, you realize the importance of the 8 actions- really good book

This book in my view is a must for anyone in a committed relationship and wishing that to succeed. The book represents an 8-step how-to-manual for happily living together within a successful spiritual partnership. Concepts like generating goodwill, avoid problem solving, practicing restraint, acting as if, balancing your needs versus the partnership, acting alone, practicing acceptance and compassion, get to the core of the authors wisdom and spiritual teachings. This book puts a practical relat ...more

Very good, overall. Some of it is a bit new age and you can take it or leave it. But the idea of doing rather than talking is fantastic.

Recommends it for: Anyone!
Read it within a couple weeks of starting, and sent this book back to the library a few weeks ago. Its launching point might be illustrated by lyrics to a song I like: "It doesn't seem right to take information given at close-range for the gag and the bind and the ammunition. A conversation once colored by esteem has become a diagram of a dialogue of a play for blood." (Fiona Apple, "Not About Love")

Arguments can get nasty. There are times for communication to attempt to work out differences, th

We read books to learn and improve our life. Our partnerships should be no different. This has changed the way I interact with my husband, my children and at work. Simple but effective.
The best conflict resolution book I've ever read. Ignore the parts of spirituality and insert Jesus, but great practical advice on communication & how to make relationships work.
Overall interesting and very usable. Several "ah ha" moments that made me reflect on my natural responses.
Some parts go a bit far, but insightful nonetheless.
This book gives great insight into how we shape our relationships.
Very helpful book. Recommend to anyone in a relationship.
