Long live Fidel! Wait, is Fidel alive?

Historically important for the Cuban revolution, the defense of Fidel created while in prison waiting trial for the acts of 26 de Julio and later recalled/written as a book. Read a bit like a note from a middle school girl accusing her ex-best friend of heinous acts, but still incredibly fascinating. It was interesting to find that Fidel spoke highly of elections, freedom of speech, and the US constitution back then.

This was a spectacularly interesting thought-venture into the mind of Fidel Castro. It's very illustrative as to what he was thinking during his "descent into madness" so to speak. If you're doing a research project on Castro (as I was) then this book will be infinitely useful to you, supplying you with a primary source and a wealth of information regarding Castro's ideals. Interesting for what it explains about Cuba's history, and also Castro's state of mind. I find it particularly intriguing that he states so often about the Cuban constitution and how it is the right and the duty of citizens to overthrow a dictatorship--this is his defense--but then he became one himself. My knowledge of Cuban history is pretty limited, so maybe I'm backwards on this, but it's something to see him arguing so vehemently against the dictator style government, and then in hindsigh More...
