Author's Purpose- The author wrote "Star-Crossed: Aries Rising" to show her readers that if they believe in themselves then, they will be able to achieve more and their confidence level will go up the more they achieve. She, also, wrote "Star-Crossed: Aries Rising" to entertain her readers. "Star-Crossed: Aries Rising" is filled with action and "Star-Crossed: Aries Rising" is a interesting book, which makes it to where the reader never wants to put the b More...

I bought this book at our school book fair because it was on clearance for $2.50. With Scholastic book fairs, that does not always mean something negative, but it does in this case. I have a weakness for teen romance, but this story isn't romance at all. It is all astrology, and pretty much drivel.

Logan finds an astrology book in her parents' old things, and all of sudden she is more confident and can solve all kinds of problems including getting the boy of her dreams to pay attent More...

"...I don't know what kind of spell you put on him, but it worked."

Bonnie Hearn Hill brought astrology to high school life in Aries Rising, the first book in the Star Crossed series.

Logan McRae is a sophomore in her high school who's trying hard to get into a summer writing camp. But first, she has to deal with Mr. Franklin, her English teacher (whom everybody calls Frankenstein).

Frankenstein wants it pers More...

Logan McRae wants to accomplish two important goals before finishing her sophomore year in high school: get accepted into a prestigious summer writing program and get a date with Nathan, the senior she can't stop thinking about. Her chances of achieving either goal seem remote until she happens to find a book in a closet at home called Fearless Astrology. Can Logan use the information she finds out about her teachers and friends by reading their star signs to help her get what she wants?

I ordered this into my local Waterstones after winning book two, Taurus Eyes, from The Undercover Book Lover. Even though I’m not a fan of full-face models on covers, I kind of liked this one—it was simple, but the curls were fun. Plus, it’s just a really good photograph, and my inner photographer appreciated that.

The plot is fairly unique—girl uses astrology to catch a bunch of bad guys. Although I do think that the qualities for Pisces match up with me in an eerie fashion (Dreamer? More...

So, I'm not actually into astrology. I know they say it's a science and all, but I've never really believed it. That being said, I really REALLY liked this story. This first book in the series was a sweet spin on YA contemporary fiction. Taking place in Terra Bella Beach, a town some 90 minutes outside San Francisco.

I don't know what it was about the book that I enjoyed so much. Maybe it was the different subject m More...

This book surprised me! I honestly did not think I would like it as much as I did. I have never read anything with astrology as the main focus before. Before reading Aries Rising, I knew little to nothing about astrology. Sure, I knew my sign is Taurus, but I had no idea that that was just the beginning. I was surprised to discover that I enjoy astrology. I learned so many interesting tidbits about it thanks to this book.

I liked how the chapters were set up. Each chapter starts with a More...

Even though this book was about a sophomore, I enjoyed it enough to finish it. I think that I would have liked it more if I were not 22 years young, but 15.

Hill has written a well rounded book about a young girl named Logan McRae. Logan has been gunning for a summer writing camp trip. Logan finds an astrology book that belonged to her mother and after reading it, she puts it to good use. She now has a column with the school news-paper and she even has the hottest guy in school. But More...

I love reading about astrology (I'm born on the Libra-Scorpio cusp by the way) so I was super excited to read Aries Rising.

Aries rising is about Logan. Logan is a pretty average girl with awesome friends, but I wasn't too interested in her character. Logan has issues with her mom who's always away so when she sees the book "Fearless Astrology" she knows it will change her life. From there we see how Logan's life changes with the help of astrology.

I loved the ast More...

This book was alot different from other books I have read. It was entertaining though and I liked it. It was a fresh breath of air from the usual stuff I normally read!

It has to do with a sophmore girl named Logan McRae, who finds a astrology book that changes the lives of her and her best friends..

It also has a mystery in it to find out who these teens are that are vandalizing the school and pulling mean pranks on people and she usues the astrology book to figure it all More...

Aquarius Logan McRae is a high school sophomore in Terra Bella Beach, CA and has been working all semester to impress her teachers in order to get into the summer writing camp she desperately wants to attend. But when this ordinary girl finds an extraordinary book, Fearless Astrology, her life is changed forever. Will Logan be able to catch The Gears (a secret society bent on making trouble for everyone), save her love life, keep her newspaper column, and get into the writing camp of her dreams More...

Let me begin by saying that I would never have read this book had it not been a free giveaway at ALA, along with the second in the Starcrossed series (which I will read as well, although probably not review). Aries Rising was entertaining, but it will not be the latest teen fad or receive critical acclaim. Learning about astrology is (for me) amusing, but I cannot help laughing at how seriously Logan takes the whole thing. No comment is ever made about the obvious drawbacks of astrology (like th More...

This was a cute read....If you're a person that's into astrology and how it can be used to help you work through issues in your life...I like that the author has made it user friendly as astrology can get very complicated. A cute teen read...As someone who follows astrology myself, I didn't like how some zodiac signs were portrayed as the author definately showed favoritism towards some more than others, but, she has a right to her opinions astrologically speaking...I just don't agree with all o More...

I'll admit that my expectations weren't very high when I started this book. Fortunately, I liked it much more than I thought I would. The focus on astrology was fresh and intriguing. I ended up doing a bit of research on my own astrological sign.

My absolute favorite aspect of the novel was the relationship between Logan and her two best friends, Chili and Paige. Talk about a fierce sisterhood. These girls have got each others' backs. I really enjo More...

At the beginning of the book, Logan was an average girl, a little bit insecure, that only when she's with her friends she feels comfortable. But when she finds an astrology book, which says it'll change her life, she wants to try it.

She learns to use the zodiacal signs to understand people and get along with them, and to finally get what she wants (as the cute guy). It is interesting to read Logan's changes from shy to a More...

I loved this book... First book I have read about Astrology and loved it!!! I hope there is a second book... I got drawn into this book and couldn't put it down... I was on the 16th chapter and I came home one day and sat down and finished the book... and note it has 36 chapters... It has demon fighting and love romance all in one... like all other books but it's just better... I love it... I can't explain how much I love this book...

i was surprised by this book. i was expecting teen angst, blahblahblah, that boy is cute, superficial preppy girls. and of course, that is what i got. but, with the astrology tie-in, witty writing, and plots that kept twisting, i was hooked. a great read for teens. i look forward to reading the rest of the series.

I know my opinion is consider a little bias here, but I like to read a Chinese version of this book, and I'm ninty percet sure I would like it better than this book. I love reading about my start signs and horoscopes in newspapers and online in Chinese.

Good and original in some aspects but a lot of none developed characters and characters who were just mean to be mean or that kind of thing. Nathan eww! Very typical and I have no idea what Logan sees in that guy

So this book was okay. It had astrological signs and what not. They claim you can classify a persons attitude by their signs, and you can predict events as well. The plot was so-so, but to me it was slightly trivial.

Merely a self-indulgent read to see how the author worked astrology into the whole picture. She did ok but like Sharpay, "I need more."
