This is the third book in the delightful nature series by Carolyn and John Sills that I have reviewed here on Chat With Vera. This very talented team brings to the young child information that they can understand without compromising the scientific accuracy. The illustrations are beautiful and so very accurate.

Again, the book design is simple. A large picture on the right hand page showing detailed physical characteristics and simple text on the left page with short descriptive scientific titl

A Northern Lobster can weigh up to 45 pounds!!! Also, had no idea that pill bugs were crustaceans.

I learn so much each time I pick up one of these books. I know they're meant for children (and would highly recommend using them with homeschool or classroom) but these little details are interesting and I'm learning a lot too every time I use one. Very cool series!

This is a great book to add to my informational books collection. I would use this book to incorporate the life of a crustacean, where the class would learn all about their habitiat and the characteristics of thier skin. I would also use this book for my advanced readers because there is a more detailed section in the back.

This book teaches children about crustaceans. It tells how they protect themselves, where they live, and what they eat. The sentences in the book are short, but at the end of the book there is extra information to teach about crustaceans.

We checked this book out from the library as we prepared for a trip to the coast. My daughter has asked to read this over and over.
Our whole family enjoyed the illustrations are learned about crustaceans. Did you know that barnacles and pill bugs are crustaceans, too?
