Do you like "unlikeable" romance heroines? If so, this book might be for you! While reading Midnight Resolutions, I was struck by how much Rose reminded me of the women Cara McKenna/Meg Maguire and, to some extent, Megan Hart writes. They're not easy to like. They do things many people wouldn't approve of. Romance, in general, can be a pretty judge-y genre in terms of Good People and needing likeable protagonists, and I totally see why and participate in that myself, but I also happen to find pr ...more
A kiss on New Years Eve changed everything for both of them...

This story started out just fine. It was sparkly, funny, and rather refreshing. Once the heroine was introduced it all went downhill. There's one word describing the heroine, her character, and what makes her tick. And that word is issues. I've never came across a book where the heroine had so many, and so diverse, issues.

And it were those many, and diverse, issues that tanked this book for me. Because I simply couldn't stand the woma

First let me say I loved Midnight Resolutions by Kathleen O'Reilly, but that said, it took til the story was almost over before I didn't want to kill Rose. The heroine was so, snotty and pretentious that it was impossible to really warm to her until she started to see the error of her ways. In fact, this was one novel where the hero seemed to be more of a front and center character. Ian's life and struggles seemed far more important than Rose's. Maybe its because I have a bias against blondes na ...more
Dawn ♥ romance
I like most Kathleen O'Reilly books but I was disappointed in this one. Too much of the story was told from characters thoughts and I really disliked the heroine. On New Years Eve social climber Rose kisses stranger Ian who was recently laid off hoping for a new beginning. I give it 2.5* because I did finish even if insufficient atonement.

The only thing nice I can say about this book is that it started out with a good premise.

I love O'Reilly's books, but this is just not good. The heroine is completely unlikable. I didn't understand why the hero put up with her and all her issues.

The only reason I finished this book is because I kept thinking it would get better. Do yourself a favor and skip it.
The premise was good but the heroine was so unlikeable, it made the book near-painful to read. The author tried to explain Rose's snobbishness by her background but it was pretty weak. At the end of the day she was just unlikeable. I wish we got to see more of Beckett/Phoebe's story.
