I thought I liked pastoral poetry – but I was wrong. Many of these poems just went straight through me – meaning, I read the poems but they didn’t effect me. There was little engagement with actual nature – sure, there were plenty words like rain, leaves, light, night, etc. but ultimately, the collection comes across somewhat self-centered.

I found the “Spring Psalter” section overly long and tiresomely repetitive.
