The Magic School Bus series are science fiction books, but there are true facts in the books. I chose this as my informational/nonfiction book because I would have never thought of this book for an example of nonfiction because the impossible adventures that the class takes. This book starts off with Ms. Frizzle's class learning about the human body. They are all worried because Ms. Frizzle is the weirdest teacher at school and her lessons can be weird. The next day, the class goes on a field tr...more

The second non-fiction book I chose to review was The Magic School Bus Inside the Human Body by Joanna Cole. The Magic School Bus series are science fiction books. There are true facts in the books but it is also impossible to have the adventures that the class have. There are books about entering a human body, traveling through the solar system, visiting inside a beehive, and traveling back in time to see the dinosaurs, just to name a few. This book starts off with Ms. Frizzle's class learning ab...more

The class goes on a field trip inside an actual human body. The Class learns about everything in the human body through a first hand experience.

This was a very good book. The book showed factual material. The book correctly explained the process the body goes through when digesting food. Also the book coveyed just about every important part o...more

Summary: This story is about a group of students who go on a classroom field trip and end up on an adventure threw a human body. Nothing is ever ordinary in Ms. Frizzles class.

Critique: I believe the book is full of factual knowledge. It is very organized and easy to read and understand. The format of the book is very fun and creative. I really like how there are a lot of pictures and text bubbles throughout the story. The author does a great job at making her information very clear and it is a...more

The informative novel The Magic School Bus Inside the Human Body by Joanna Cole is a story about Miss Frizzle’s class learning about the human body. However, the class takes extreme measures of research by entering Arnold’s body. The class is able to view his bloodstream, intestines, stomach, and so forth.
The informative novel was able to expand the reader’s awareness by letting them take a walk into a world of Miss Frizzle’s class. By getting the perspective of the class, the reader is able to...more

This book is about the children in Ms. Frizzle's class. They are discussing the human body and while on a field trip, Arnold gets left behind, and the Magic School Bus was accidentally shrunk and Arnold swallowed it with his snack while he was finishing up his lunch. The class goes on a wild ride through Arnold' body while Ms. Frizzle explains the different functions within the human body.

This is a pretty cool science book for children in which Ms. Frizzle and her strange school bus venture inside the body of Arnold, one of the kids in class. I remember liking this book when I was a kid. As an adult, though, I was simultaneously disappointed that they only explored limited areas of the body and grossed out by the areas that they did explore. I'm learning that there are a lot of things that don't gross me out, but thinking about the viscera inside of me is not one of them. Talking...more

Ms. Frizzle's class is supposed to go to the museum, but instead they end up taking the magic school bus inside classmate Arnold's digestive system.

The art is cartoony and cute, but also does a great job of showing what the inside of the human body actually looks like. Images fill the entire page, with text blocks, mini-reports by students, and cartoon bubble dialogue incorporated into the picture. The illustrations are easy to follow but involve a lot of little details to be discovered in each...more

The Magic School Bus is a popular, fun-filled science series in which a class of public-school students, led by the eccentric Ms. Frizzle, goes on magical field trips to new and unusual places. In this episode, their school bus shrinks to miniature size to be swallowed by one of the students. The rest of the class explores the inner workings of his body -- his intestines, circulatory system, nervous system, and respiratory system (at which point they are sneezed out and resume normal size). The...more

I have always thought it is a great idea to integrate various subjects into Language Arts because there are so many great books out there to teach students. This one is a great example. I think that 'the Magic School Bus' is always so engaging and exciting to students because it is bright and imaginative. Also, I think that through this book, students can learn a lot about the human body. I believe the pictures will be very good for students to visualize the parts of the human body while reading...more

The teachers tell the class that they are going to a science musuem to study how the body gets energy. I remember reading all of these books and watching the tv show as a child. I learned a new lesson each time. They do such a fantastic job in explaining complex concepts, such as what goes on inside the human body, and simplifies it in a way that kids can grasp it. You may not come out being a professional on the human body, but you will be able to tell someone a few facts after the first read, and the more you read it the more you pick up on. Very informative and educational for all ages. Even i...more

This is a great series that I enjoyed as a student and will definitely use in my classroom to engage students about subjects in science prior to going into further exploration. The information in the text is accurate and presented in a child friendly manner. The adventures that the Frizz gets her class into are always fun for the kids to imagine and enjoy. You can't help but to like all of the characters and their unique fun features. The illustrations are also very factually accurate and aid in...more

A good introduction into the human body and its many functions. I think it would be fun and hands-on to acquire a poster, a life size skeleton, or perhaps various models of different human organs to let students study and manipulate after reading the book. Students could then make their own skeletons by making puppets (popsicle sticks, cartoon cutouts) and then attaching and labeling different organs as well as listing the function(s) of each organ; bones included. This lesson could be span out...more

Ms. Frizzle's always spice up her class by going into the actual science lesson. In this book she takes students on a trip inside one of the classmates digestive system. Throughout the entire book there are notes from students about the human body and the illustrations are amazing. The illustrations are great drawings of what the human body actually look like.

This book is good for a science lesson and it is entertaining. Children would enjoy listening or reading on their own. Its much more fun...more

Will I be any less of a book nerd if I say that I like the TV adaptations of this book better than the book?

Don't get me wrong: the book is fun and educational, and my son loved it. I love how much it has going on—the story, the little speech bubbles, and the reports.

But the TV series splits the human body episodes into at least three, and it gives more opportunity for further detail—instead of just flying through the body, the shows can go into details like how the digestive system works, or ho...more

The magic school bus series is truly amazing. It is the first set of books that I enjoyed reading, the adventures the bus took were crazy and exciting. In this book it is no different, the bus shrinks and get swallowed and the kids in the bus get a chance to learn about the human body form the inside. I love the fact that every book in the series is educational but in a really fun way. the characters are funny and the themes are made interesting. I am most defiantly going to need a set of these...more
