If I had to Discribe this book in one word I would probably say "exciting." I would say this for many reasons. In this story there are so many things that happen that makes it so you are on the edge of your seat and you can't put the book down. The book in many ways combines all of the book in the series and totally just tops them off perfectly. The book in many ways combines all of the book in the series and totally just tops them off perfectly. It is a kind of series that you can read over and over and discover more and more things about it every time you read it. It gives so much meaning and emotion that makes it so you don't want the series to be over for a long time.

It takes place in the times of clans and indian tribes. I think this is a really cool setting because it brings in a whole different way of living in this world. It tells of how they would hunt and scroung for food and what kind of gods they would worship. In this particular story it takes place in a land that has a great amount of clans that are named for their beliefs and ways of life. Like the main character is a member of the wolf clan. This means he can talk to wolfs. He is also the last of his clan so he is kind of an outcast that lives on his own. But, he came accross another clan called the Raven clan. The members of the Raven clan take him in and he lives with them. This shows that even though they are different they still will stick togeather and help each other out. Some of the other clans are the sea eagle clan, the willow clan, the bat clan, the lynx clan, and the whale clan.

in this story it tells of a a boy named Torak that is a spirit walker(the ability to enter another living body and control it) He has been faced with a very evil souleater named Eostra. Eostra wants to take over the living with thoes of the dead. She also want to gain all of the power of the world. This includes Torak's power of sprit walking. Eostra is determind to find and kill Torak to steal his power. She sends her evil spirits and followers to lead him to her. But, she needs him alone so she sends deemon dogs and people to try to kill off his best friend Ren and his pack brother Wolf. At many times in the story they succeed in doing this but they always seem to find a way to catch back up and help their friend. Torak travels to the high mountains in hope of stopping Eostra from bringing back the other dead souleaters on soul's night. On his way his pack brother wolf is seperated from Torak and Torak is left trying to climb a cliff to try to get away from Eostra's demon dogs. He reaches the top of the cliff but then looses his grip at the very top and falls on to a small ledge of rock and is nocked unconcience. When he awakens he finds that a boy named Dark had saved him from the dogs and had taken him to a cave. Torak had slept for two days and he finds that night was soul's night. Dark leads Torak to the cave where Eostra will be calling to the dead. When they reach the cave Torak and Dark get split up and Torak is forced to proceed into the cave alone. Dark goes back down the mountain and finds Ren and Wolf and returns to the cave and enters in a different way. They soon find that Torak had been fighting hard but was chased up a rock face by the demon dogs. They then relise that Torak had spirit walked in his last effort to kill Eostra. But, in the cave there was no other living bodies so his spirit was lost in the cave. Ren found out how to kill Eostra and summond Torak back to his body. Ren and Dark then started to distract the dogs and Torak was able to go and cut the bind that bound togeather the spirits of the dead souleaters. He then killed Eostra and the three of them traveled back to the Raven clan and Torak found that he could not stay with them forever. He planed to leave alone with wolf and never return. But, Ren could not let him go because she had feelings for him. She then decided to join him and they left togeather to begin a new life.

I think that the author of this story did a great job of using many different tools to give this story emotion. One of these ways ways how she used the love and friendship that the characters had for eachother. She Brought so much excitement to the story by always throwing things in that you would never even think would happen. It definatly kept me interested and I never really wanted to put the book down. Not many books have really ever made me feel that way. This book is filled with so many fun twists and turns and I would recomend this book to everyone. (less)

Wow. I literally read this book in one day. I couldn't put it down because the story is so gripping but at the same time I didn't want the story to end as this is the last book in the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series and for me that was really sad - some parts of this story genuinely made me tear up especially because over the course of the series you really get to know and care about the characters involved. I really liked this book personally i think that Michelle Paver could hve added on some more to the story. I also think that this book is TOO PREDICTABLE it is like whatever you predict coems true threr isnt really anything that you do not expect in this book. It is not like all of the other books in the series where there is a certain twist toward the end. But in a way the book is still god it still has all of the action packed Indian fun that i love. But whenever something bad happens in the book it always gets resolved which is some thing i do not really like , like there has to be some sad part to it the entire book have a problem and then it is instantly resolved.
What i learned from this book however is that you must put all of the people you love first even though it may cost you your life because you are just one person and the world is about 3 billion people now would you die just to save the one person who is you or would you rather save the 3 billion.Torak had to make that decsion and he chose to go with the world because he knew that he had to save all of the people who he had loved and in return he managed to keep his life.
I would definitely reomend this book to anyone who enjoys action andhistory this book puts in a good mix of history and fantasy into play because this book is based on indian culture back then only thing is that the things which they had believed in were real. As the story goes on it brings you into suspense, love, betrayal, death and the bond between human and animal.However i would definitely not recomend this book to vegetarians because a lot of animals are slaughtered but it is reall good to know that the indian ate so wisely, they would eat every part of the animal and use the fat in there clothing to make them feel warm in the winter.
in conclusion this book was a pretty good book the only thing that kind of messed it up was how predictable it was. If only Michelle Paver had written it so that at times you would feel diapointed and then then you would feel depressed rather than just havein to feel happy all the tim throughout the book.Other than all that it is a prretty descent bok it eis too bad that this is the last one this was a awesome series and i hope Michelle Paver comes out with and even better series than this one.(less)

Wow. The ending to a great series! I really enjoyed these books. They were different to anything I had read, and still anything I have read to date. Torak’s world is full of lore and intrigue. I honestly didn’t want these books to end, and could have read another six more. The characters of Torak, Renn and Wolf are brilliant. I hope that one day a movie series can be made. I don't know why this series isn't more popular! It's like Harry Potter-meets-Lord of the Rings in Stone Age Europe! I loved the ending to the series, it was emotional and satisfying, and I even shed a few tears at the end.

Sadly, the final volume in this truly great series. Unnatural winter and sickness, sent by Eostra, the scary Eagle Owl Mage, are killing the tribes, and Torak realizes he must venture out and fight Eostra, who seeks Torak, the last Soul Eater, to gain ultimate power. Compelling, creepy, and just plain good storytelling. Recommended for adventure fans, unique for its post-Ice Age, pre-farming time setting. Paver did meticulous research and traveled extensively to write her books.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the adventures of Torak, Wolf and Renn, flying through these books in record time because I was so reluctant to put them down until they were finished. The magnificent finale to The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series. As Soul's Night approaches the evil Eagle Owl Mage is attempting to use the spirits of the Unquiet Dead to take over the Forest. She only needs one thing to complete her spell, Torak's spirit. Torak, Wolf, and Renn head for the Mountain of Ghosts to defeat Eostra once and for all. A magnificent series and an ending that makes you beg for more.

This book was I think my favorite of this series, which I read straight through. It is a series that I will re-read, maybe more than twice, and was very popular with the readers in the school library. Wolf sees protecting Torack as what he is for, and you can feel that is a life truth that Paver has articulated, that dogs and wolves have that kind of selfless loyalty to protect their pack, that is what they are here to do.

Reading the last page of this book left me with such emotion, especially since the first time I picked up the first book was...quite sometime ago.

The final book did not let me down as much as other final books have. It had emotion, quite a bit of certainly chilling parts, and just enough portrayals of the strength of relationships between all the characters, especially Torak, Renn, and Wolf.

An enjoyable, if predictible, end to the tale of Torak, Wolf and Renn. I'd recommend this series to boys and girls in the 8-12 range, although the snappy prose, constant action and central characters are particurly well suited to boys or slightly older, reluctant readers. That saying, I would have loved the series as an 8 year old!

One of my favorite books, I loved it. It's sad that I have read all of the series, and there won't be anymore I don't think, but they were good books.
Everything that I wanted to happen happened really. Reading these books made me more interested in how people lived then, I really find it interesting.

A great ending to a really wonderful series, Chronicles of Darkness. There were some predictable outcomes, but truth be told, if Paver had tried to surprise me with anything else, I would have been disappointed. Ghost Hunter definitely leaves the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness on a satisfying note. However I think it exceeded my expectations. So many things going on at the same time. So many horrible things happening all at the same time. It's heart-wrenching and infuriates any devoted reader but that's why drives you to finish to the end. W.O.W. I think this is one of the best series I have ever read. The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness has had a big impact on myself, I never knew that a book I first found boring could bring an absolutely stunning series.
