Then there's massage therapist Slate Harper, whom Jolene jilted one too many times--and who reportedly went from smitten to stalker. With a second corpse on her manicured hands, Marla would like nothing more than to nail the killer and wrap the case. It seems Marla isn't the only one in sunny Palm Haven who sees a dark cloud hovering over Jolene's demise. When she joins forces with Homicide Detective Dalton Vail to give her deductive skills a workout, they quickly discover that there's no shortage of suspects. Soon Marla has a second corpse on her manicured hands--and she'd like nothing more than to nail the killer and wrap the case. But things are shaping up to be more complicated than she ever imagined--and unless Marla exercises the utmost caution, the next buff body on its way to the morgue will be hers.

I will not be looking for any of the books that remain in the series, because I just don't like them. I have a hard time understanding why a hairdresser would be allowed into a police investigation. In this one it seemed that Dalton asked her to snoop around even though he was angry when things seemed to happen to her after snooping.

I don't like the way Ms. Cohen calls people pal in the book. It just seems so derogatory to me and even though I am sure it is used to express sarcasm, it is annoying. I know this is a hairdresser book and the reasons for explaining a specific hairdo is probably the reason we know how everyone looks including their make-up, but I don't really care if every hair is out of place unless it pertains to the actual crime.

I wanted to read these because they were set in Florida and I do enjoy this part of the book, because I have been to these place in Florida and that I can associate with. I knew exactly how she drove up the coast on the turnpike. I also knew the outlet malls she mentioned and could see them as I was reading.

I have one more book left in the series and I am adding it to my list of books to read, but after that I am going to give up. Ms. Cohen is a very good writer, just not a writer for me. I am giving this 3 out of 5 stars.

It was an ok story. I read the 4th book before I read this 3rd one and thought maybe that's why I didn't think this story line was as good as the others. But I read it and enjoyed it.
