Paradise Wild

A well-born Boston beauty, Corinne Barrows has traveled halfway around the world in search of Jared Burkett — a dashing rogue and a devil; a honey-tongued charmer who seduced and despoiled her. . .and then abandoned the impetuous lady after awakening a need that only he could satisfy.

She has found him on the lush and lovely island of Hawaii. And now Corinne w

I really can't stir up any enthusiasm or interest to write a review for this one. The characters were idiots and constantly swung from hatred, to deliberate misunderstandings, to convenient temper tantrums/snark, to giggling and frolicking like seals off the Hawaiian coast. The heroine, Corinne, was most annoying of all. She's a complete spoiled brat who's been allowed to get away with murder. Combine that with a tendency towards reckless TSTLity (getting locked in a tool shed because she thinks ...more

Recommends it for: misogynists
What woman on the face of this planet would marry the man who raped her? And what father would sit there calmly while the man who just raped his virginal daughter laid out his plans to marry her? What. the. hell??? I don't care that this book was set in the 19th century, rape is rape and that man should have been tossed in the clink.

Equally disgusting was Lindsey's placing the blame for Corinne's rape on Corinne. A virgin wouldn't be seen in a gambling establishment. A virgin wouldn't flirt. Ev

I didn’t like this book that much.
I can’t even begin to understand what can possess a woman to forgive and forget a man for raping her and deflowering her… and then calling her a whore over and over again… and on top of that, hitting her!!
No, no, no, it was too much, the author made the plot too complicated and some of the things made me feel very uncomfortable.

Corinne is not a strong female lead character, she’s just too stupid and her actions didn’t make sense most of the time.
Jared is a bipol

One of Johanna Lindsey's earlier works. I enjoyed it even though the Hero and Heroine aanoyed me at times.
There are a load of misunderstandings which all work out to a satisfying finish.
The emotion is high and very dramatic.
The reader can see Johanna Lindseys complete admiration and love for Oahu/Hawaii-- Which is were she lives currently,I think. She describes a little paradise with lots of agust and drama. Its a place a bright and vivid colours with friendly people who treasure their heritage

My very first romance novel ever! I think I was maybe 11 or 12 when I picked this up covertly on a vacation in Wildwood (with my babysitting money). I really liked this book at the time, but later read it and found it quite unrealistic. In any case, it holds a special place in my heart because it was my first!

Karakter yg aneh utk dijadikan tokoh utama. Mgkn hanya Florence dan Akalea saja karakter yg memang memiliki sisi positif sedari awal. Un ...more

I like almost all of Johanna Lindsey novels, so this colors my view a bit. This book was written in the early '80s, and it shows. Jared was probably Lindsey's worst hero ever. He's mean, cold, and abusive (with zero redemption). Even worse than Jared's rape of Corrine (to me) was how he hit her in the face! I found it unforgivable, so I was never satisfied with their HEA.

Never ending misunderstanding until the very last moment. So sick of the constant bickering and fighting of the main characters. Both the hero and heroine are jerks. His mistress and sister are no different. This book only gave me depression. So disappointed.

I can't see why the hell on earth I've read such book, it realy caused me a bunsh of mixed feelings " Do I like it? or hate it? donno "
But anyhow, I must admit that most of what happened at the end was a piece of CRAP... How the hell on earth would a lady forgive the man who raped her?, and why for heavens sake would Corinne and her little boy go back to Hawaii at that very silly stupid unworthy end call it their HOME instead of dear Boston? and why for hell's sake would Jared be that hell of a

Bingung mo kasih ulasan apa nih....

Misal di buku Sorceress-nya Lisa Jackson and Baby Love-nya Catherine Anderson. Baru eneg deh baca crita yg macam itu. In My Opinion ya.

Tapi kalo hero-nya udah main pukul dengan alasan emosi sesaat and meski cuma sekali, itu

I usually enjoy Johanna Lindsey's novels but I have to say this novel is by far the second worst book I've ever read. (water for chocolate being my least favorite book ever) I'm going to be honest and let you guys know I was not able to finish this novel...something I have never done with a book...I got to the rape scene and all but chucked the book to the floor. I don't intend to ever pick this up and after reading most of the other reviews on here I think I'm making a wise decision of abandoni ...more

I don't know where to start. I hate both of characters, the hero and heroine. The hero is so stupid and easy to deceive, all of his acts don't reflect love at all, rape? You gotta be kidding me and still the heroine manage to fall in love with that kind of guy? After all he's done, she still hang on? I found that very stupid and doesnt she have dignity? at least respect herself by leaving him. And what I hate the most is when how she easily get drown again into him, so easy just because of sex. ...more

It's hard to like the main female character in this book, given she's a spoiled gambling addict who just wants to marry a man she can control so she can gamble as much as she wants. And then there's the guy, bitter and hell-bent on exacting revenge on her father, he has no problem using her to do it. And of course, since this was written in the 80's, that means he's a rapist in addition to publicly humiliating her. In one sense, two terrible people...made for each other? But I wouldn't wish that ...more

This is the second time I have read this book, the first time I read it was almost two years ago on 31/12/12. And it reminded me why I loved this book so much the first time. Even though I alredy knew the story-line, it was still very interesting. The book is kind of hard to put down.

At the begining I wondered why I liked Corinne, because her personality is really dislikable, but by the one third of the book she changes and is really nice, even though she has a temper and is very stuburn. Jared

Not much to say that everyone else hasn't already said. Didn't like it, of course I don't like Johanna Lindsey's writings too much. Way too many of her books have rape as a form of seduction, men calling women whores, an some have physical violence. Sorry but that's not romance to me, that's domestic abuse. Don't care what century you're in. Thank God I was born in this century because I would not put up with that.

Johanna Helen Howard was born on March 10, 1952 in Germany, where her father, Edwin Dennis Howard, a soldier in the U.S. Army was stationed. The family moved about a great deal when she was young. Her father always dreamed of retiring to Hawaii, and after he passed away in 1964 Johanna and her mother settled there to honor him.

In 1970, when she was still in school, she married Ralph Lindsey, becom
