Escaping ITEX in Florida, the Flock head west, with Max more burdened than ever by the knowledge that she's meant to save the world. But while their leader is keen to stay on the path leading to her destiny, Fang and the others are more interested in settling down and letting the chips fall where they may. With the Erasers eerily absent from their lives of late, has the Fl...more

December 13, 2011? Fine. It better come faster than it sounds.

I want to start out by saying that I've read the actual books, and that I know the graphic novels aren't suppose to be exactly like them or as good as them. But that doesn't mean they should be bad, making me not want to read them!
Things wrong with them-
1) No enough detail/background -if I hadn't read the books, I would be kinda lost.
2) They take WAY to long to create-If it takes 12 months to make one of this poor of quality, I say something needs to change.
3)Out of all of the current five out...more

My kryptonite is...... dark haired smart-asses!

Case and point, this smexy pirate:

So when it comes to Maximum Ride: The Manga I doubt it shocks anyone that I adore Fang!!

I never really know what to say about manga.... I liked it, it was cute but it's not a meal to me, it's just a snack.

Surly teenagers and kids with wings..... what can go wrong?!

That's it. This is becoming my favorite series. And this volume was even better. And of course it ends at a cliffhanger. I thank you for that and am like really you're ending it there?! Cute cover. Oh and helps that I like Fang. He, he awesome. New favorite ship? Yes.

The only thing that disappointed me in this volume of the series was that Narae failed to put in everyone's favorite line: "I vill no destroy de Snickhas bahrs." (Or however you spell it with that accent in mind.) I loved the artwork in this one. My favorite picture was one from the chapter pages, which was of Ari when he was younger with his older self. I loved the contrast between the two and think that the next volume will be just as enjoyable as this one was.

I loved this graphic novel. I thought it didn't miss a thing that was told n the actual novel and the art was great!

Other than the twist (view spoiler) the story was really quite good. The pace was quick, but maintained coherency. I was a bit confused by the idea that all the kids, except Max, just wanted to hide from the end of the world instead of trying to do something. I would have figured there would have been at least one other hold out if only because he didn't understand the danger. I also really wanted to hit Angel; probably more the doct...more

But if you've been reading the Maximum Ride series or my reviews on the previous volumes then you know this. The kids might always get a break but it's always short lived and if Fang and the gang...ha-ha. If the guys think they are going to be able to just disappear then they are kidding themselves so I don't blame Max when she gets upset with their sudden "screw everyone else" attitude but despite her disagreeing with them she's outnumbered and has no choice but to go house hunting with Fang. N...more

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 unicorns - I loved it!!
**Checked out from the high school library

Another great addition to the series!! Jammed packed with action, there is never a dull moment in Max’s life. I love this series! As always it is difficult to review these because I don’t want to give away the story and ruin the adventure for you.

Max is amazing with her strength and not giving up her morals even though they are seen as deficits. Unfortunately, her flock suffers an even bigger betrayal and...more

Maximum ride is a book series about a girl that is supposed to save the world. I read the first volume to this series. In this book Max and a group of kids she calls her flock escape from a place called The School. This place is a science lab that experiments on humans and animals. Max and her flock are special because they have wings and can fly. People from The School are always trying to catch Max and her flock. One of the people trying to catch her is her brother who is part wolf and part hu...more

I didn't read book four (so missed out on the ITEX plot) but will read all the novels. I feel sorry for the other Max as she isn't treated as a person since she'll never live up to Max. Fang's haircut is hot, just saying. It's smart for Fang to blog what's happening to them. I'm surprised people noticed the bird kids so quickly in the football stadium. It would be hard to decide to save the world, so I understand Fang's reluctance. Fang and Max kissed, yes! I ship it! It was smart for Max to get...more

Setting:
(3/5) The Flock stayed in the School for a while in this volume and I liked that we got to explore it a bit and learn more about it as well as ITEX.

Story:
(4/5) I enjoyed this volume far more than the previous one. The plot felt less hectic to me, although there were revelations that came out of no where, as always. It's safe to say that you can't really guess what will happen next with this series. We also finally find out wh...more

Maximum Ride vol.5
By: James Patterson

Escaping the laboratory, running away, heading to New York, and hiding from the “erasers”! Maximum ride is a young adult, fantasy, and science fiction. I think that this book is my favorite because the "flock" gets into problems with the scientist from “the school”.

The setting is taking place in Florida in the present. Some characters that in the story are Max, Fang, and Angel. Max is the oldest member of the "flock", she is the leader of...more

Why are the volumes getting shorter? Why???

Anyway, this volume was pretty interesting: all experiments (like the bird kids and Erasers) are being killed off, along with the new plan that will reduce the world's population by half being set in motion. Plus, fearless leader Max is beginning to realize just how much of a part she might be in the whole thing, and with the kids wanting to find a permanent home and Fang acting weird, what's a girl to do?

Finally, the kiss! I have been looking forward t...more

I chose this book because i have read the previous books in the series. In this book, Max understands that she is meant to save the world. However, her leader is more focused on staying in her path leading to destiny. The gang is also more laid back and is waiting to see how everything will turn out. Finally, the Erasers are out of their lives, so they will be little distraction. My favorite quote is "They're all pictures of baby Gasman." This is my favorite quote because they had seen the same...more

I was tempted to give this one star because of the plot twist: (view spoiler) Words cannot describe how much I hate that plot twist. However, infuriating plot twist aside, it was an okay book/series. My thoughts on the series as a whole can be summed up with "cool ideas, poor execution". I'm still undecided whether I want to continue the series or not at this point.

I will say one thing: I'm glad I'm reading the graphic novel versions instead of the novels. At...more

Maximum ride vol. 5 by James Patterson is an interesting book that keeps on telling the tale of Max and her friends. In this book Max and her friends escape a facility called "Itex" which contains information about Max and her friends. After they escape Max wakes up and see's that she is tied up to a bed and she is in the same building called the school that she escaped in the first book. Her brother Aries is not evil and all her friends do not have their abilities anymore. My favorite quote is...more

Where the manga collection doesn't hold a breath to the original they were well developed and brought to life with stunning visuals.

One of the Flock is a mole and turns the entire family over. Will they have a change of heart or will they sit back and watch the show.
David Babakhanian
I chose this book since it was the last book in the series. The book is about how the flock splits up and gets captured while Max and Fang go and get the chip out of Max's hand. Later they wake up chained in beds in the school and are said to be "expired" soon by Jeb. My favorite quote is when Anne said, "Your at school, Max, because you never left it." What Anne was trying to say was that everything was a dream. I really enjoyed the author's writing style because there was a lot of action in th...more

This series is simply amazing and Vol. 5 was no exception. There was some very interesting and suspenseful moment as well as some WTF moments. Overall this was a great read.

It is worth your time to read the graphic novel version of Maximum Ride more than it is to read the actual novels. The novels were written like manga transcripts. And what's the point in just reading a transcript without the art?

Interesting art style with beautiful color pages that don't get printed enough. Fun to see the artist's take on Max and the Flock. Keeps pretty well to the original story, throws in some cute jokes and graphics, omits useless or meaningless texts that only made the orig...more

Well, I really liked it. I'm a big fan of Maximum Ride, and Narae Lee summed up all those classic monologues ("I Love You Fang", "Torture by Chocolate Chip Cookies" and "We're Variables.")
However, I wouldn't say this was my most favourite out of the whole series. I applaud Narae Lee for cramming so much story into such a short book (successfully), but somehow, it just wasn't like the other books.
Ok, maybe I'm being too negative. It still deserves to be on any Maximum Ride fan's shelf! It's aweso...more
