Wow! Just wow. I'm not even sure what to say about this one! I absolutely loved it, and as with all of these books, I didn't wanna put it down. Wow! Just wow. I'm not even sure what to say about this one! I absolutely loved it, and as with all of these books, I didn't wanna put it down. I love that at #20 in the series, I'm still loving it and need more. If you're new to the Dark-Hunter Universe, don't let the length scare you away--it's totally worth it! Now that I'm so close to the last published book, I'm actually disappointed I won't have more of them to pick up right away. *sigh* I'm torn between devouring them or saving them!

I have to say that I love these books set in New Orleans with our gang the most! It was kinda fun seeing them all introduced to Sam as well; it's definitely a special town, that's for sure! And speaking of Sam, I absolutely loved that woman. Kick ass! She might have made me a bit annoyed when she insisted on pushing Dev away a few times, even if I could definitely understand her, but it was easy to forgive in the end. And Dev...! I've always had a soft spot for our bears, and I loved getting to know him even better in this one. There was definitely more to him than we've seen before! He's an absolutely wonderful man (with an awesome sense of humour!) and I loved these two together.

'What he found unusual was her state of undress. "You always answer the door like that? You must have the happiest UPS driver on the planet."'

And then we have Nick, of course. Nick, Nick, Nick... He and Ash are seriously breaking my heart! I just want to hug him and remove some of that anger and hatred from him. *sigh* Oh, and YAY Savitar for being so awesome! "You want a shot too?" Yessss!

Sherrilyn Kenyon is amazing. I seriously can't wait to continue this seriously fantastic series and see where things are going! Even if I'm a bit scared for my lovely characters...

As a huge Dark-Hunter fan this one didn’t cut it with me. I was very disappointed. Again this one is nothing like the books pre Acheron. I wish if the books are going to keep up with this pace Kenyon would go ahead and finish the series.

Again you get a lot of new of new characters you have to keep up with like this series doesn’t have enough then there is the added of all the different new gods and new demons. Then there is the lack of detail in a lot of different scenes. It would leave one that just picked up this book with out reading the rest of the series going WHAT! This book left me questing more than I should.

Then there is Nick when is Kenyon going to let him grow up and take what happens to him as life not someone else fault..

Now as for Sam and Dev they are very good together if their romance was let grow it would have been fantastic. Sam and Dev were fun the way they would cut up with each other but again you really don’t read them as much as you should its everyone else.

Stryker is as always up to no good, so you get lots of action and plenty of blood. I just hope book twenty will be better. I really feel like the Dark Hunters has been put on the back burner.

As I keep thinking about this book the more I don’t like it. It just seems to me Kenyon is letting Nick get the upper hand to where he is going to take Acheron place. Acheron even make a statement in this book that “Nick may one day kill him“. But what gets my goat the most is I know Ash has had a bad past life those of you that read his book knows what he went through and he never wanted a D-H to know about it, now all the sudden things are popping out one is Sam now knows Acheron was a whore. It just makes me feel like Kenyon is going to somehow take Acheron down and its not going to be good and I not going to be reading that one at all.

OMG! Just amazing! I loved this installment, although there were 3 or 4 I liked much more. But to be the 5th in a series with more than 20 books in it sounds pretty amazing to me,lol.

The plot was amazing, so much better than the previous installment about Fang, even though it was with the same characters and in the same place. Dev was a super hot and entertaining hero. This, for me, was a 4 star..possibly a 4 1/2 ....I LOVED it! I'm not really sure what some have meant by there being too much world building or too many characters going on...I didn't think that there was anymore than past DH books..my feeling on that... is that if Sherrilyn Kenyon is planning on continuing this series for sometime yet..which it sure seems to be going that way...yay!!...it is kind of neccessary for her to introduce all of these new characters..for possible future books...yes!......more This, for me, was a 4 star..possibly a 4 1/2 ....I LOVED it! We also got introduced to a few new characters who I'm DEF. looking forward to reading more about..especially Ethon! I have to admit that I will ALWAYS have a little bit of a "soft spot" for the DHs because it was one of the first "adult" PNR series that I'd ever read and I can honestly say that it is a HUGE reason that I've become so addicted to this genre of books! In my opinion...No Mercy was just as good as all of the rest of the DH books...it had EVERYTHING that one comes to expect from Sherrilyn Kenyon...great action/suspence, comedy, romance..and some good sex! :)

Really wish I could have read this on my iPod, but the price is too high. Thank G-d the library comes through when publishers get too greedy.

After finishing I am really thankful for the library, because I would have been pissed at paying money for the lousy formatting (huge margins) and bad editing. Several sentences with the wrong word, so they didn't make sense, and even grammatical errors (I hear the e copy was just as bad).

Not sure what to think about this book. On one hand it is an improvement over the last few books since Ash's book. It tried to return to the Dark Hunter format with two great characters, Sam and Dev, I would have loved to read a complete story about. Unfortunately the book seemed more focused on introducing countless new characters that new books in the new series could be written on than focusing on the plight of the main couple. It wasn't a story with a clear focus; it was a scattered recounting of various impending world doom that left me with a negative feeling.

:: Maybe it is just me, but with the world in such bad shape I want to read about hopeless scenarios that can be overcome and end happily--not open ending stories of impending doom that has to be bigger than the last book! I read to escape.

My other major problem with the book was characters acting uncharacteristic from their personalities in previous books. If I've read several books where a character acts a certain way and then suddenly they are acting different just to open up a new plot line it comes off as unrealistic to me.

I'm not sure whether to give this book 2 or 3 stars. I loved the characters Dev and Sam and I would have loved to read about them and their relationship developing. Unfortunately the 352 page book only spent about a 100 pages dealing with them, the rest the time it was off in other scattered directions.

A lot of little things were off in this book. Things happening in scenes that came out of nowhere (cops show up shooting when there is no signs of a crime when they arrive), no explanations for things happening (if you don't have perfect recall of the last 18 books in this series expect to be confused), numerous continuity issues, and a lot of things left unclear. For example is a "jolt of electricity" suppose to imply immortality or the ability for species unable to conceive to conceive?

In the end it was disappointing and made me glad it was a library book. I'd of rather paid to buy an anthology that contained a short story of Dev and Sam.(less)

I often joked that it would've been so hilarious to see Dev mated to someone his total antithesis (someone like Maggie from Unleash the Night), I know that such just wouldn't work. Dev definitely needed a woman who could take his debonair charm and give it back to him tenfold. Sam more than meets that criteria.

Sam, who is a heroine that I just adore to pieces, is really a unique contradiction. While she is a warrior through and through, she is not cold nor unfeeling. Such is more than fitting since her powers are psychometry and empathy. Even still, she's a woman who more than is Dev's equal.

The plot of No Mercy was so fascinating! I know a lot of readers will probably complain that it was "shifty," or even a bit bumpy, containing plot points that deviate left before turning right, but I think it was a fascinating display of how life really does work. Sometimes, the simplest path is not A to B, and occasionally, road bumps do happen.

I do see No Mercy as being a jumping-off point into a bigger story, and I'm definitely okay with that! This plot did focus, primarily, around Stryker trying to utilize Sam's powers to break his people's curse and/or kill Apollo. It was fairly basic on its surface, but when looking at this book from the perspective of the series in its entirety, I'm sure that No Mercy is going to be a lead up into a much bigger story. Maybe that's Redemption, maybe it's a novel on down the line. Who knows? Who cares!

The book was absolutely amazing, written with classic-Sherri style that any fan should gobble it up and want more!(less)

I like were-hunters and am pretty partial to bear shifters lately (Laurenston had a couple of good ones too). Dev is one of the four gorgeous identical quads belonging to the family that's run Sanctuary. Dev is sexy, snarky, and his humor makes the book a lot of fun. But beneath the attitude, there's some pain to give him depth too.

This is only the second Dark Hunter book I've read and the first one was awhile back. I am so glad I read this one as I loved it! Dev and Samia are both great characters. Dev was such a funny guy and always managed to see the humor in just about any situation. Samia was a former Amazonian queen so of course she was totally kick butt and still had a softer side. There is a lot going on and a lot of background I think I was missing by not having read the previous Dark Hunter books but if anything...more

Yet another brilliant book in a series I love oh, so much! It was excellent.

It was horrible seeing how much they still grieve for their late parents, but it was nice to see that they have kept Sanctuary alive and are continuing on in Nicolette's memory.
Over the course of the series Dev has had his ups and downs in my eyes. Just when it appears he is a good person after all he’d do something questionable and I’d dislike him.....now however I don’t. Yes, he’s arrogant and has an ego so large it’s a wonder his head hasn’t exploded, but there’s something about him when he’s with Sam, or when he protects his family that makes him so much more different. My heart breaks for him over the loss of his two brothers and the guilt he must have felt, but I liked watching him get to know Sam and fall for her.
Sam was an interesting character. She was a tough cookie; someone who wasn’t afraid of a good battle. I liked the chemistry she and Dev had and I loved that she met him comment for comment most of the time, and that she appreciates his somewhat crude sense of humour. Sam had faced such pain loosing everyone in her life who mattered to her, but I was happy she found love with Dev and was ready to move on.

I loved seeing Ash in this book (of course!) and I think it’s marvellous that Tory is pregnant. Ash will make a wonderful father to their child and I think it’s so adorable that Simi already thinks of the baby as “hers” too.
I also think it was a brilliant thing Savitar did for Sam and Dev. It’s brilliant that she and Dev will now be able to have children, and I’m even happier that he hit Aimee with the shot too, so now she and Fang can have a biological family also. There’s a lot of mystery that surrounds Savitar, and even now we still don’t know exactly who and what he is, but I have to give the guy credit.....sometimes he can do nice things.
But oh Nick! Nicky, Nicky, Nicky....what ever will we do with you? I yearn, I pine, I perish for the Nick of old. I can honestly say that in this book he was the most himself. The way he acted and the things he did, it just goes to show that perhaps there is hope for him yet. It was so amazing of him to go to Artemis and get Sam’s soul back for her. No one else could and no one asked him to do it; it was somthing he took upon himself to do and it was very generous of him.

There’s obviously something very wrong with Nick. It’s like there’s both good and evil inside him and it’s fighting to take root in him. It’s a battle within him and it’s going to take a lot if he ever wants to be at least part of the man he used to be. Something struck out for me during this book when Nick was talking to Sam about the pain of losing someone you love, and when he asked her how she lives with it. She told him you need something to live for, and the more I think about it.....I honestly believe that’s what Nick needs! We all know Nick is soon to get his book and I think it’s the woman he meets, whoever she may be, who will be the key to saving him. Now we just have to wait and see what happens with him.
Things are changing in the Dark Hunter world; Daimons walking in daylight and feeding on demons. Stryker is up to something, something more heinous than ever before and I for one can’t wait to see what happens next.

Lord, the wait for Redemption is going to kill me and as far as I’m concerned it CAN’T GET HERE FAST ENOUGH!!!!

I read the first 5 chapters...and right away I was bored. After chapter 5 or 6, I started skimming through the pages lmao I'm not lying. I'm a Sherrilyn Kenyon fan and I like her books....but No Mercy was just POINTLESS! I like Dev Peltier...but I felt as if he didn't need a book. I think Kenyon should've...more

I love Samia’s character, she isn’t wimpy or a damsel in distress, she’s got spunk and is pretty kickass, even her name is bad ass like the Dark-Hunter she is, Sam Savage. Sam has the ability to see into other people thoughts which causes her trouble when getting hot and steamy with a man...However she is unable to read Dev. When Dev told Sam what his full name was the moment that followed made me laugh:

Sherrilyn Kenyon is a reliable, consistent author in the paranormal fiction/romance genre. You always understand what to expect from her when you read one of her books - you know: capricious gods and goddesses, beautiful amazon warriors, smokin' hot shape-shifting males, demons, quests and battles and lots of hot sex scenes . . . you know - the usual everyday stuff!!

The Amazon Dark Hunter who still feels guilty for failing her family 5,000 years later. The Were Hunter who isn't what everyone assumes, and is a sweetheart bad boy. He has something she needs, but neither knows it until they meet. Spark fly between them before she finds his (unexplained) secret. There is no suspense in their relationship. What I Loved: Dev and Sam are up there in my favorite couples for this series. Dev is such a great smart *ss but he also sees the bright side of every situation. Dark-Hunter novels are absorbing and action packed, sexy, and found in a well imagined world with lots of terrific characters. This book is no exception. The Dark-Hunter world is becoming more dangerous and menacing as the Daimons have found a way to walk in daylight. Even the method itself threatens the safety and world of the Dark-Hunter.

First off, I have to say that this is my first Kenyon novel and I was a bit tentative to jump in headfirst this far into a series. But having done it with other authors and not been completely lost, I figured I'd give it a shot. And I definitely wasn't disappointed. While there were minor details or in reference to minor characters or references to certain events in the past that could've been expanded on, I never once felt lost or confused. First off, I have to say that this is my first Kenyon novel and I was a bit tentative to jump in headfirst this far into a series. But having done it with other authors and not been completely lost, I figured I'd give it a shot. And I definitely wasn't disappointed. While there were minor details or in reference to minor characters or references to certain events in the past that could've been expanded on, I never once felt lost or confused. The author did a great job of giving bits and pieces of the past. It was enough to fill anyone in that hadn't read every book, but not so much as to bog the story down with too much background information. The idea of the different supernatural races was a very interesting take on vampires and shapeshifters. I'll definitely be picking up more Kenyon novels in the future, both future and past releases.

Pace: 3.5 Stars
The first half of this novel felt like one of those run-of-the-mill urban fantasy/paranormal romances where everything, and I mean everything that can go wrong will go wrong. It seemed like every time Sam or Dev turned around, someone was attacking them or capturing them or threatening them. Luckily, this didn't last. The second half involved more action on Sam and Dev's part than standing around and waiting for the baddies to come to them. They really took things into their own hands and didn't let the circumstances overwhelm them. All in all, this was a quick read that kept me interested.

Characters: 4.5 Stars
I really enjoyed both Sam and Dev. Sam was a very strong female character, but what I enjoyed most about her was the vulnerability underneath the hardened exterior. She was a great blend of hard and soft. Dev was a very likeable male character. He stood out from many Paranormal Romance heroes I've read in that he wasn't rude or overly macho. My only complaint would be that I wish we could've seen more of Dev's siblings, especially considering how much of the book happened at Sanctuary, where they all live and work.

Cover: 3.5 Stars
As simple as the cover is, I often like covers that don't fill my mind with any preconceived notions of what a character might look like. Too often, the cover model's don't fit with the description of the character and I like to make my own version in my head without anything to disrupt that. The colors of this cover work very well. I can't pinpoint why, but I couldn't imagine this story with a cover that wasn't done in hues of red. The color just really fit. My only objection is the large shape on the cover. I don't remember anything in the book refencing a shape like the one on the cover, so it leaves me wondering if it was completely random, or if I'm missing something from a past book.

Overall: 4 Stars

I have always liked Dev. The sarcastic humor in him definitely calls to the sarcastic b*tch in me. Add to that his huge frame, blond curls, and blue eyes, and I am a goner. I don't remember much of Samia, but what we got in this book I really enjoyed. I liked the two of them together, but it did seem to happen a lot faster than it had in previous books.

What I am totally against is the mid-book relapse into the demon realms. I don't get Thorn, I don't understand the Hellchasers, and I truly hate...more

I'd read a book or two by Sherrilyn Kenyon a while back, vaguely remembered liking them, the blurb sounded interesting, and I needed something to keep me from going crazy on our weekend camping trip.

Let's start off with the fact that I liked this book. I liked the characters (who were funny and spunky) and the context was definitely interesting. I'd read a book or two by Sherrilyn Kenyon a while back, vaguely remembered liking them, the blurb sounded interesting, and I needed something to keep me from going crazy on our weekend camping trip.

Let's start off with the fact that I liked this book. I liked the characters (who were funny and spunky) and the context was definitely interesting. I'm a pretty hard sell when it comes to paranormal romances anymore, but I still found myself enjoying Kenyon's mix of Greek mythology and modern-day paranormals. Demons, Daimons, Dark-Hunters, Were-Hunters, and more!

I enjoyed the book, even if I snickered a little bit on just how boy crazy the writing seemed (if you want descriptions of rock-hard, drool-worthy bodies, then Kenyon is a good bet for you), but since it was a romance, I let it go.

However, I had my nitpicks:

EVERYONE is beautiful. I seriously hate that. And they weren't even beautiful in their own unique way. They were just lovely and lust-inducing. Yes, I get that they're "not human" but does every stinking nonhuman have to be drop-dead gorgeous? (The only exception were minor-minor characters.)

And the ending. I would have been more than happy if Ms. Kenyon did without the epilogue. The epilogue took a sweet, emotional ending and turned it into disgustingly-sweet-OMG-seriously?-overkill. Yes, I wanted Sam and Dev to have their happy ending, but I'm also of the mindset that it's OKAY for that ending to be imperfect. (WARNING: I am going to totally ruin the book for anyone who hasn't read it.) So, Dev and Sam couldn't have babies because she's technically dead, and she was still in danger of having Artemis come kick her ass, but that was cool with me. And then Nick delivers Sam's soul (no clue as to how he gets that from Artemis . . .must have to do with him sleeping with her) and what's-his-face (S-something; he only appears in the book twice, so it's easy to forget) comes in with some BS excuse that he hates the Fates so he's going to make it where Sam can get pregnant just to piss them off.

Baby-making ability does not equal happily-ever-after-perfect romance. Or maybe it does. But it seriously made me want to rip those pages out. Do I have anything against the desire for a lovey-dovey couple to procreate? Not at all. But I DO have a grudge against dues ex machina. And that's what brought this book from a four star to a three star review.(less)

It is what led me to the Dark Hunter BBS (sadly it is no more sob) created BAM ( Banners Anonymous- founder member) and eventually led me here and to all of you. Throughout all those books (and yes I have read them all) one of my favourite characters was Dev and I was SO excited that he would finally get his own book. But I also went into this with a little trepidation as even though I have enjoyed the recent books I am also aware of how big the DH world now is and in some ways the books have lost the charm of the early books I fell in love with. This tight nit community which looks after their own. But I shouldn't have been scared.

Why?

Perhaps it was because all the old gang was there, perhaps it was because Dev was one of the original characters and I felt I knew him already, but that charm was there and wound throughout the book.

I am not saying the book is perfect, there are still some questions that need answering like does Sam's "thing" not work on him simply because they are mates? Or did I miss something?

But it is a good book and a really engaging read. Dev is sexy and bearlike and human and vulnerable and all the things deep inside that he didn't show, we find out more about his past life and his relationship with his family, his mother in particular and just why family is so important to him, at times your heart will bleed for him. In the past books Dev came across as a bit of a player, well ok a different woman every night and sometimes two at a time (not that I minded I always had a soft spot for him *whispers bear pheromones to Sparklybearsy, Shame and Squire Nomad*) but we find out about the man inside in this book and through that more about his brothers, and I am certain Remi would have liked to keep some of those things secret! heheheheeeeee.

What about Samia? She is Amazonian in the best sense of the word, strong, fearless, brave and happy to put her life on the line for those she cares about, however someone wants her dead, in her final act of revenge she killed those who slaughtered her family, however they were more than they seemed and their brother has waited a long time for revenge and he means to have it.

A gripping story, old friends (the whole gang in there) and an ending which makes you smile, I love you Savitar! I gibe No Mercy 4.5 frilly knickers out of 5, add this to your summer reading list!(less)

I am so glad I can enjoy this series again!! Really liked Dev and Samia...Kenyon has a talent for writing kick-butt heroines that have a softer side and don't make me want to kick them in the teeth. I wish the book would've been a little more focused...it seemed all over the place to me. There are so many characters at this point, it's hard to keep track.

I'm worried about the Nick situation....I wish she'd abandon this stupid idea of writing his childhood and focus on the crap that's going down...more

This is the 19th book in the Dark Hunter series and it remains true to form. I do enjoy this series but I find most of the books too similar. I guess that is to be expected with 19 books and counting in a single series.

That being said, No Mercy had a few different twists. I really enjoyed Dev and Sam as a team. I found both characters strong and extremely funny together.

I am a raving fan of Sherrilyn. I actually started out reading I think the 16th book in the Dark Hunters series and fell in love. I have devoured. I believe almost everyone of the rest of that series. I was asked to read and review No Mercy and since before taking my haitus I hadn't gotten a chance to review it. I guess my hiatus was a good thing.

Wow, this is such a great book in the series and she keeps coming up with unique pairings. Her mythology grows constantly, but is always consistent. It's wonderful (but don't read it if you haven't read the rest of the series). Spoilers below, only if you've not read previous novels.

It's wonderful (but don't read it if you haven't read the rest of the series). Spoilers below, only if you've not read previous novels.

The particulars include her over arching plot, the lives of the other characters, the romance of the book, and the battle of the book. Sherilyn Kenyon is such a great weaver of stories. The romances are getting old, but because they are simply the excuse for where the story begins and ends in relation to the larger plot they are more than acceptable. I would like to see her try to spread a romance over two or more books. The battle of the book must enter in because the two main characters of the romance must take center stage in the larger plot for a few moments as well, sometimes (as in this case) they are slightly convoluted, but it's Greek gods we're talking about. Plus, when does the evil genius ever just say "Let's storm the castle and damn the torpedoes?" No, they always have to circle all the way around the problem.

The easiest to tackle is the romance of the book. It's your basic warrior/female warrior love story with just a little hint of cougar thrown in (though they never really mention that). The romance is detailed and thought out with both parties showing insight into "Why this is a REALLY bad idea, but of course I can't resist anyway.") It kind of makes me wonder if the mating mark hits some of them before they actually have sex, not in a visible way, but in a "This is THE ONE," shouting inside them. Pushing them to go sleep with their mate so that they may receive the mark. That would be an interesting direction for a Were-Hunter mating.

Other than the romance the second easiest one is the battle of the book. In this case Stryker is plotting to figure out how to get out from under the curse and destroy his father. Nothing unusual there, but they do make more of the daimons walking about during the day, which appeared at the end of the last book; and was a big part of Stryker's plot in this one.

Now we're on to the lives of the other characters. Indeed we get to see several of the other characters and what's been happening in their lives since they last left the scene. Some of them which we haven't seen since their own books. Their lives are not static either, shenanigans and adventures have happened to them in the interim. If you want to know what's going on in a character's life this is a good one to read. It also gives the backstories to some of the other characters. All of whom I hope to see in upcoming novels.

Last, but never least, is the story arc. This is one of the great things about Sherilyn Kenyon. She is master of the story arc. I think she has a giant cork board in her secret writing room which has the mast plot pinned to it. I wonder what secrets I could find out then, and does she have a giant time line somewhere where all the major events of the novels are kept? Granted, this is not like Acheron where lots of holes are filled in. It's not even like pre-Acheron novels where we sort of started to know that we were building to an Acheron novel. I'm not sure who is the next meta-novel. It could be Savitar, Thorn, or Nick. I also hope that eventually we get to see Ravyn's novel. But again, all of those would be very great big novels like Acheron's. Part of me thinks it cannot be Nick's because he has the other stories. Enough speculation.

From an author with so many novels in a single series this one is certainly fresh. While she could let the romance simply sit there limp they would not last as new and interesting entities. Instead she switches up races and adds enough meta-plot to keep the stories interesting and attention grabbing. I just sat down and read the whole thing. This series as a whole is recommend to anyone who enjoys myth and legend. Anyone who enjoys sagas that stretch over many novels would also enjoy these books. (The first in the reading order is Fantasy Lover by Sherilyn Kenyon). (less)
