"Highland Blood" by Hannah Howell-4 stars.
Definitely her best work yet, no doubt. It ended a bit abruptly, but I loved the red-haired "witch" (healer) who saved and tried to rear a vampire halfling. And after a couple years, when she realized he needed more than she could give, she tried to find the MacNachton clan...and did. But not before she got chased down by the Hunters (humans who feel they're doing God's work by exterminating the vampires). That's when our hero stepped in and saved her...more

Dark, sexy and immortal, who wouldn't want one to keep one of these fangsome guys for an eternity. Yours For Eternity was an enjoyable collection of historical vampire romances - that made me wish for more.
"Highland Blood" - Hannah Howell - When it is clear that her unusual foster son, Osgard, will never be safe Adeline leaves behind everything to try to return him to his father's clan the notorious MacNachtons. “That I may have a lot more than fifty years with ye?” She laughed and hugged him. “Oh, Lachann, ’tis wondrous. I shall have years and years and years to love ye. Could anything be more wonderful!”He smiled down at her. “Nay, love, nothing could be more wonderful than years of loving ye and being loved by ye. I look forward to every one of them.”

I enjoyed the stories from Hannah Howell and Alexandra Ivy, but not so much Kaitlin O'Riley's, the latter being a new author for me.
Howell is someone I haven't read for quite a while whom I used to enjoy and I really should again. The highlander/beast combo always work for me.
Ivy's contribution is a historical set in her Guardians of Eternity world featuring Victor, London's Vampire Clan Chief with a guest appearance by the irrepressible gargoyle Levet. Quite entertaining.

I give all 3 separate stories 3 stars. I bought the book so I could continue following the Alexandra Ivy Guardians of Eternity series. Taken by Darkness (Ivy's) does not really play a role in the series. Levet is the only character in common with the novels. All 3 stories in this book are historical. I am not a fan of historical. The stories are interesting & wrote well. I just feel I could have not bought this book & carried on reading the Guardians of Eternity books without missing out...more

I read this anthology because I am reading Alexandra Ivy's Guardians of Eternity this has a short story to be read after book 6 Beyond the darkness. Levet mentions in the 6th book he had ran into Jinn before and in this short story we go back in time and to England where he has befriended Juliet and when he ends up in trouble then her mate and her help out. So again poor Levet is the friend to woman crazy enough to love a vampire. While reading this short book I read the other two stories is thi...more

Her book was good. I am only disappointed that her vampire books are always anthology books or cowritten with other people. All of her vmpires are about very poor scottish people (men, women & children) & the coversations are very, uh.., whats the word?, well, it is written with the thick dilect that takes much longer to get through because you almost need to interpret it.

Highland Blood - Hannah Howell. Another one of the Lost Ones is found. Adeline Dunbar witnesses a ruthless woman abandon her own son. She decides that she cannot just ignore this and rescues the three year old. The woman did not even bother to name him and Adeline (even after discovering that he is not an ordinary little boy) decides to adopt (for lack of a better word) him. For several years, they live together in the same village he was abandoned in, but when the attacks on the DEMON get to be...more
I was disappointed in this gathering of paranormal stories. Hannah Howell's Highland Blood was excellent but the other two stories were boring and predictable.
Hannah Howell does for vampires what she did for Highlanders! Incredible heroines and gorgeous, sexy, manly Scots. Yummy! Not knowing what Osgar is, Adeline Dunbar adopts him and then must deliver him to his people since her people are trying to kill him and by default, her. She is rescued from the hunters by Lachann MacNachton, a vampire...more

First of all, Thank you Laurie-Highland Hussy for recommending this to me. I loved it.
4 1/2 STARS
For being and anthology I was very surprised. Usually I find 1 story worth reading, in this one they were all good.

I only read Alexandra Ivy so far, but it was good. I had just finished the seventh book with "Sweet Laylah" and this started off with "Sweet Juliet" I thought I was going to puke, but then he switched to calling her "Little One". Whew! I also noticed some same phrases when reading them so close together, e.g. "Oh, so you like it rough." Regardless, it was enjoyable - I am beginning to appreciate Historical romances and when you add some crazy paranormal action - it is all good.
I enjoyed "Highland Blood" by Hannah Howell. The unique approach of a clan of Highland vampires was very intriguing.
"Taken by Darkness" by Alexandra Ivy
I loved the tension and interplay between Juliet and Victor. I will look for additional works by Ms. Ivy.
"Immortal Dreams" by Kaitlin O'Riley
Hmm - this one didn't appeal as much. I've never really been into the whole reincarnated issued.

Love the story of Victor and Juliet in 1800´s London and Levet made an appearance =)
Immortal dreams by Kaitlin O-Riley was a great short story, she had me biting my nails by the end.
Highland Blood by Hannah Howell was also great, Adeline and Lachlann in the 1500´s Highlands rescuing a vampire child from Hunters to his family. I need to look into their other books, too.. .

I got this one for the Alexandra Ivy entry, but I ended up reading all three.
It was my first Hannah Howell book, and I found it a decent read, even though all of the "ken" and "kenning" and other brogue-ing didn't flow that well for me. Other than that, it was a decent story with quite likable characters.
Kaitlin O'Riley's reincarnation/vampire story was quite decent as well. It had a bit of a different spin on things that I found quite interesting.

I only read Taken by Darkness because I have been reading the Guardians of Eternity series by Alexandra Ivy. As far as short stories go this was a pretty decent one. Most of them are just so pointless but I liked seeing Levet in the early years and it was fun to read about Victor after having met him in Devoured by Darkness.
I presume you know what the book is about. I'm letting you know what I liked or disliked about it.
Victor and Juliet - I like this story, how it's written, and the chemistry between these two characters.
I seem to enjoy ever glimpse of Levet :)
This is a great addition to the series. I do recommend the series by the way.

This review is written in regards to Alexandra Ivy's Taken by Darkness, Guardians of Eternity #6.5.
This Guardians short story added to the series in a lovely way. Victor and Juliet were a perfect pair. I would have appreciated a litttle more steam, if you know what I mean, which is the only reason I rated this a 4 instead of 5.

I enjoyed Hannah Howell's "Highland Blood" and Alexandra Ivy's "Taken by Darkness" more than Kaitlin O'Riley's "Immortal Dreams". All 3 stories were decent quick reads though.
