I recently won this ARC in a contest and was thrilled! I love Ms. Mallory’s first two books in her All The King’s Men series and didn’t want to have to wait until the June release of Knight of Passion to read Jamie’s story. Fortunately I didn’t have to!

This third installment is a slightly more intense read, delving into the darker side of England’s underground. Witchcraft and rituals, blood sacrifices and necromancy are just a few of the things Linnet and Jamie have to face in her search for jus...more

I'll be honest. I couldn't finish this book, though I did get it for free from FirstReads. The problem wasn't the writing or even the story. I think it was the setting. I'm not fond of historicals that don't take place during the Regency or in the American West. Clearly, it was wrong of me to pick up a book that wasn't even in my chosen genre.

What I can say, is that the writing was superb and the plot is much different than the typical strong, arrogant hero and spunky heroine. The couple has a h...more

Knight of Passion is not your typical boy meets girl, boy wants girl, heaving bosoms and flirtations ensue story.

As the story opens, Jamie and Linett are young an in love/lust with each other and have been able to arrange a tryst in an empty room in the castle. Jamie doesn't know Lynette has arranged for them to be caught so that she might escape her father's promise of her virginity to Sir Guy, a snake among men. Naturally Jamie is devastated by her deception and leaves.

Five years later, we mee...more

3.5 rounded up

As with the first two in this trilogy, Ms. Mallory's writing is wonderful, and her story enthralling. Jaimie, the hero, is a character readers have watched grow from a child in the first book, to a teenager in the second and now as a dashing adult we all love and adore. Because of this, the reader is so invested in his happiness that when he chooses a woman who is so bent of revenge for her family that she uses and abuses everyone in her way, including him, we are personally offend...more

The 3rd books in the medieval series; All The Kings Men. I really adore the cover. The sensual lips make me wanna to kiss the cover, LOL so pathetic.

I didn't enjoy this book, I didn't like the story, although the characters were well developed. Jamie and Linnet are always meant to be together. I also wanted to shake Linnet and tell her to get over the revenge.

But I loved the secondary characters. They were awesome. The relationship between Queen Kate and Owen Tudor was incredibly fun, so cute....more

I'd actually like the rate this book as 3 and a half stars, but I don't have that option so, I'll just extrapolate further. The last book of Mallory's Knight series is better than 3 stars but not quite deserving of 4. It's the passion of the couple and steamy page-turning love scenes that warrant the extra half star but it's the sense of waffling given to the characters and plot that cost it the other half.

Still, a great romantic read and I'm definitely a confirmed fan of Mallory's work now!

Overall Rating: 4.25 // Action: 3.5 / Emotion: 3 / Romance: 3.5 / Sensuous: 2.5 / Suspense: 3.5 // Medieval Flavor: 4.5 / Laughter: 3 / Teary: 1

Would recommend any book written by Margaret Mallory. Knight of Passion has all the requisite features that make for a great read: {1} a hunky, strong-willed, skillful warrior for a hero; {2} a beautiful, intelligent, determined, self-sufficient heroine; {3} a bit of action that adds flavor and interest to the story; {4} a strong thread of suspense runs...more

I really, really, really wanted to like this book. I had been looking forward to reading Linnet's story after reading Knight of Pleasure. She was spunky, she was a mischievous, and she was someone you wanted to learn more about.

In this book she became just another stupid heroine hell bent on doing whatever she wanted, damn the consequences or common sense. She went from being a likable character to be a cold and empty woman.

The hero was not any more likable. In one chapter, he's yelling at her o...more

The third and final book in the All the King's Men trilogy. This is the book that my book club is reading and what lead me to read the first two. My read the books in order rule has not disappointed me.

King Henry has died young and left a young widow, Queen Katherine, and the toddler king. There are two factions, the Gloucesters and Winchesters, fighting to "guide" the young king, who has been taken from the foreign queen (Queen Katherine is French.) Lady Linnet, our heroine, is one of the queen...more

The author has given us a wonderfully delicious third installment of All The King's Men and one you won't soon forget. Lots of love, passion, deceit and watch out for the tip of the sword action to have everyone enjoy.

Lady Linnet is a prize alright. She is quite beautiful but doesn't have an ounce of common sense but does carry a conviction for payback for past hurts that gets her in more trouble than even someone with back luck would admire.

Jamie Rayburn has been trying so hard for years to get...more

Though Margaret Mallory is a relatively new writer of historical romance, she crafts her stories with a deft hand. Her "All the King's Men" series is consistently entertaining -- with the just right amount of romance, banter, and subplots so that each book offers the escape and lighthearted romance that mark a "keeper."

But in Knight of Passion, Mallory adds certain historical details and suspense that give the novel a little something extra and turn it into one of my favorites. Mallory includes...more

3.5 Stars. I really liked the setting of this one: England, 1425, shortly after the death of Henry V with Linnet as lady-in-waiting to Katherine Valois; the Duke of Gloucester and the Bishop of Winchester grappling for control of the infant King Henry VI, and featuring quite a few historical players, like Owen Tudor and Eleanor Cobham. Not your typical romantic setting and the political strife plays a large part in the story. I liked the characters and I thought the plot was well-developed, with...more

This book, like the second book in the All the King's Men series (I haven't read Knight of Desire yet), is very passionate, fiery, and steamy. I love Ms.Mallory's writing, she puts so much love and passion into each of her characters, even her villains are truly vile. I enjoyed this book, not as much as I was expecting but it was still a very good read. I loved the connection between this book and the previous books in the series as well, they are all connected, although I don't think you had to...more

OhMyGosh this was my FAVORITE of the (All the King's Men) books. When i read Knight of Desire i fell in love with William. But once i met Stephen in Knight of Pleasure he was my new love. AND NOW Jaime from Knight of Passion has stolen my heart. This book is definately a new favorite. It has everything from to love, deciet, hurt, vengence to witchcraft and sorcery. Jaime is handsome, kind and sexy. His love Linnet is beautiful, wild and headstrong. They have loved each other since she was 15 and...more

What can I say? This book is a gem! The characters jump off the page, there is intrigue, paranormal elements, witty dialogue, do I need to continue? Of course! I am really getting back into romance novels and I wish there was a better term to describe them since I don't think the term really suffices. Knight of Passion is my first book by Margaret Mallory and I am incredibly impressed. I am going to go have to get the other two books in this series. I can only imagine that the debut of this seri...more

Knight of Passion by Margaret Mallory is a story full of revenge, love, hope and pain. Our main characters, Jamie and Linnet, have to face England's crude underground- witchcraft, necromancy and blood rituals, to name a few. And Linnet will not let any obstacle destroy her opportunity to seek vengeance on those who desecrated her family.

Jamie Rayburn, our knight in shining armor. He's charming, beautiful and has a colossal desire to get married and build a family with a virtuous, stable wife. Ja...more

This book really took me by surprise by being such a fun read. I tend not read as many medieval as I do other historical romances set in other eras because I keep picturing mud whenever I read medievals. You know, like muddy houses, pigs and chickens walking in mud, serfs with muddy and dirty clothes, drafty castles with a nasty moat and a muddy yard... this is probably thanks to all the medieval movies I've seen but needless to say, mud is not romantic and I prefer the glittering balls of Regen...more

Lady Linnet and Jamie Rayburn hadn't seen each other for the five years since their relationship ended badly. They were each other's first love, and even over so many years, they still haven't gotten over each other. Headstrong Linnet has since become friend and confidante to Queen Katherine, and young and innocent Jamie is now a knight, Sir James Rayburn. When Jamie is sent to watch over and protect the Queen, he and Linnet realize that no matter their differences or how hard they try, they can...more

I really enjoyed this book. I had a difficult time getting into it but after a couple chapters I was not disappointed at all. I found the book was well written and after getting into the story found it very interesting and really liked the historical and paranormal mix. I liked the romance between Linnet and Jamie and how they began and how they met again later. I thought that the detail of the characters and the way their feelings were brought to life with the great descriptions was very good a...more

Well first off, this was an entertaining book. I didn't get sick of reading it, yet it wasn't one of those books that I couldn't put down. I liked the story enough, and the characters were well developed but there was a bit of a disconnect for me.

I think my biggest hurdle in this one was Linnet. I know she was looking for revenge, but she came off as being deceptive, and a bit of a brat. I just wasn't that thrilled with her as a main character. I liked Jamie quite a bit more. He was a scorned l...more

Regret. Pain. Hope. Passion. Love.

Those are the themes of KNIGHT OF PASSION by Margaret Mallory, although not necessarily in that order. Fans of Mallory will recognize our hero, Jamie Rayburn as the little boy from Knight of Desire. In the first book of the series, Jamie was a cute and precocious boy. Now, in KNIGHT OF PASSION, Jamie has grown up and become quite the looker. He's returned to England, searching for a wife to build a home. Although his heart is drawn to Lady Linnet, his mind steer...more

I got my free copy of Knight of Passion last night, which I won on Goodreads. Looks like it really is a good read. I'll you know what I think when I'm done.

Well I'm done with Knight of Passion and let me tell you this book takes you on a roller coster of a ride. As soon as I opened the book to the very first page I was hooked. Linnet was at times was difficult to put up with but she always managed to pull me in and take her side of thing. Jamie- what could I say about such a passionate Knight. T...more

I'm really enjoying Mallory's writing. She does a lot of work to get the politics of the era which can be very facinating or boring to read. M seems to fall in the facinating category.

Oh how I wish this wasn't a trilogy! Though it was nice to have it wrapped up and not wait for the rest of the books, each book is also fairly contained so you could read them w/o the series, it would have been nice to see Martin's story or get into the lives of Jamie's siblings which she really doesn't even tell...more

3.5 Stars. I like the book very much. Mallory writes a wonderful story. Characters were great and I liked the plot. But.... not my favorite in the series. This one was just missing something. A small something to be sure, as I said I did like it, but the intensity that was in the first two that was absent here. I easily put this one aside to do other things and came back to it leisurely. Cannot put my finger what it was, because I like Linnet very much and Jamie was good. But it just missed in c...more

I received this from my GR bestie Allison.  I didn’t realize it was part of a series prior to reading, so I have not read the first two before reading this. I admit some of the references to past characters were lost on me, but overall this book can stand alone.

This book was actually a pleasant surprise. Based on the cover and title I expected a heavily sexed up fluffy read. There were some sexy scenes but for the most I enjoyed the back story much more than the interaction between the Linnet...more

Lady Linnet and Jamie Rayburn have a past. A past that includes betrayal. They went their separate ways but find themselves brought back together in duty to their Queen thus reigniting their passion. Knights was kind of fun and although I'm not a big fan of HR's I didn’t mind the historical aspects of it since it was more action oriented than “tea party” oriented. That stuff bores me to tears!
Liked: When Linnet & Jamie are together their chemistry is undeniable. I loved the supporting player...more

Margaret Mallory's first book? One of my favorite historical romances. Her second one? Not quite as good, but still decent. This one? Disappointing.

Linnet is one of my least favorite heroines of all time. She is a self-involved manipulative brat. I disliked her from the very first few pages, and it got worse as the story continued. Jamie hit the nail on the head when he told her that she was putting everything in her life before him. Even worse, she doesn't agree that it's a problem. Ugh, what a...more

I'm baffled by all the good-to-great reviews on previous books. Thought I'd try this 1 but it made me not too keen on reading her others. Over the top villain, heroine is not credible w/ her dubious achievements (really, flushing out her grandpa's robbers / traitors @ such a young age & roaming around unescorted as if she's Bruce Lee) & flaky hero is not interesting enuff. I think it totally ruined the book for me when H/H already banged when she's only a teenager & she came across a...more

The two main characters are Jamie and Linnet. They were together in Paris which didn't work out too well. I really liked how they met again in London. There is some excitement in the story line which I like. Linnet is looking for the person that did her grandfather wrong when she was a child. Her brother is always watching out for her because she is always getting herself in trouble one way or another. She seems like she is a little wild and uncrontrolable at times.

The book kept me wondering wh...more
