Looking for a fast-paced murder mystery? Look no further than DEATH BY BIKINI! I know if nothing else, the title alone should make you stop and consider the book.

Aphra Connolly and her father live on a tropical island. Her father left his resort in South Carolina to open the remote hotel four years ago. Most people would envy Aphra's life at the beach. But Aphra has no friends, no social life, and little to occupy her time except for the day-to-day operati...more

Imagine if Nancy Drew tried to stop an international crime ring, ran afoul of frightening assassins, stuck her nose in everything and got in all kinds of sticky situations because of her meddling - oh wait, Nancy did all those things. Well, the Death by Bikini Mysteries are a kind of updated version of the Nancy Drew mysteries I loved as a kid. The meddler/heroine, Aphra Behn Connolly (lit reference alert!) is just as kick ass as Nancy and the stories are extremely fast-paced and exciting. The c...more

Death by bikini may sound like a strange book but it is very suspenseful and quite a thriller.
You may think it would be so cool to live on a resort island and be in the sun all day. But not for Aphra, she works at her dad’s resort, which happens to be the only resort on the whole island. She was just wishing for a normal life and she thought she had gotten her life when a new boy and his family moved onto the island. How better to celebrate going on vacation than to write about a fabulous beach read? Linda Gerber's DEATH BY BIKINI will pull you in and leave you eager for Aphra and Seth's next adventure. Like J. F. Lewis, Gerber is cruel and knows it. "Leave you eager" was an understatement. You'll be desperate for DEATH BY LATTE (and it doesn't come out until September)! In fact, my mom's first reaction to the ending was to ask me for the release date of DEATH BY LATTE.

Death by Bikini is a fast, thrilling, loving and most than just a simple entertaining book.

In the first installment of the Death by Mystery series, we meet Aphra a sixteen-year-old girl living in a paradise island. She lives and works there at the resort her father owns. Despite hosting some celebrities, politicians and few other remarkable people, nothing ever exciting happens in Aphra’s life. That is until Adam-Seth arrives. There is a lot of mystery around Adam’s family and Aphra will do ever...more

I had heard only good things about this book, but I didn't really know what I was expecting. I mean, a mystery where a girl dies on the beach with her bikini straps tied across her neck? That could go one of two ways: either really good or really, horribly done.

Linda Gerber did a great job of making sure it was really good. There was an amazing mix of romance, mystery, and an exciting setting of the jungle.

The book is really fast paced and it gets exciting really quick. That was one of the reaso...more

Simple but fun - maybe 3.5 stars. Aphra lives with her dad on a secluded tropical island that caters to vacationing celebrities but provide her no chance to make friends or meet people or be a normal teen. Then a boy her age, plus his parents, arrive at the island one day before a murder takes places on the beach, and Aphra realizes that someone needs to find the killer - and find out what other secrets this boy's family is keeping.

The writing is really breezy and made the story speed by. I lik...more

Murder at a great beach resort should be a perfect premise for a cozy murder mystery, not to mention a hot guy should be a big plus. Unfortunately, upon finishing this book, I find myself utterly disappointed because the plot is just too thin and with plenty of holes. I listen to the audiobook version so I may misspell the name of some characters.

I wanted to like this, but I just couldn't. It seems like it would be the perfect book for me. I love murder plots, mysteries, cute love interests, a protagonist a'la Nancy Drew. Unfortunately, it was just blah to me. I felt like I was reading the events of the book through hazy, Nyquil induced eyes. Despite what was going on, there was no excitement and the writing came off as mediocre. I wanted an interesting actionpacked story and it was all a little lukewarm to me. This book wasn't completel...more

Plot: This book had mystery, suspense, some espionage, and even a little romance, but as mystery novels go, this one was pretty predictable. I figured out most of what there was to know in the first 20 pages of the book, yet that did not stop me from wanting to continue reading because just as I thought I had everything figured out, there was a new twist to throw me off the trail. What kept my interest the most was the mystery behind the Mulo...more

Things become strange when some new customers arrive at the resort, claiming to be the "Smiths". The family lurks around and acts weird around Aphra and her dad except their son who Aphra is drawn to. Even stranger, a girl washes up on the shore to be dead and the straps of her bikini tied tightly around her neck, maybe from strangulation. With some research, Aphra finds tha...more

I'm an avid mystery reader (Agatha Christie, Nancy Drew and A-Z Mysteries anyone?) and having not read a good mystery novel in over a month, I bumped this up on my ever-growing TBR pile. I wasn't disappointed, but it definitely wasn't what I was expecting.

The plot boils down to basically this: A girl is found dead on the beach of a private island resort owned by Aphra's father, seemingly choked by her bikini straps. Everyone believes the straps simply got tangled and that it was an accident. Aph...more

Finally! I finished it!
The book sounded interesting enough but god! It took me until more than halfway through the book to find it the least bit interesting.
The story is about a girl named Aphra who lives in a hotel on a secret island her dad runs. She finds a dead body of someone she knew and when a mysterious family comes along literally the day she died, she can't help but feel suspicious.
I loved the twist at the end! Who knew that that particular person would have been the killer. Although...more

I read this book when I didn't have anything to read and I am beyond happy that this was the book I chose. Even though it is a book coming from a series; the ending wasn't a total cliffhanger like other books in a series. I loved this because it concluded the book in its own special way, only to give the next book in the series an even more fabulous start.

This book is about a girl (Aphra) who thinks that she's lost her mother forever when her father took her to a paradise resort in the middle of...more

I'm not even really sure what I just read. I think I might like this novel if I could actually understand what was happening.I mean it has so much going for it spies, mystery, exotic local but oh god was this a narrative mess.
