A very nice collection of short mystery stories made all the more enjoyable by "the first female detective" (she inspired Agatha Christie!). Violet Strange is charming and the mysteries really are mysteries - I only guessed the ending to the story with the blind doctor.
Another early woman writer of mysteries. Her detective is a young New York socialite who uses her wits and connections to solve mysteries.
