It's been a long while since I had read any Norse myths, so long that the stories seemed strange and unfamiliar (even if I probably knew them once, long ago). But the stories are great -- Loki is an engine who really drives a narrative -- and this book was well written and fun to read.

I have found this book to be very helpful in recounting the order and events of the Nordic myths. It is a good book for those just starting to study the mythology, as it is geared for a young audience and simple to understand. I also love the illustrations.

Collum is coming from an overtly Christian perspective, but the style and lyricism he lends to the Old Stories is priceless; as are the illustrations.

Very fun. I love mythology but grow tired of the Greeks. This is a welcome respite.
