Ladybug Girl at the Beach (Ladybug Girl)
Lulu loves the beach. Well, she’s never been there before, but she knows she will love it. And then she sees the ocean and it is big and loud and rough. That’s okay—Lulu wanted to build sand castles and fly her kite with Bingo anyway. But while they are building their sand castle, the sneaky ocean comes in and tries to steal Lulu’s favorite pail. This is a job for Ladybug...more

IN this book Ladybug Girl went to the beach for her very first time. She said that she liked the beach even though she has never went to the beach before. She ran to the waves with her dog Bingo. And she didn't know that the waves would be so big and noisy. So she took a few steps back. And then she made a big sand castle. And she used sticks for the king and queen. She though the people would be happy there. And when she was finished she asked her mom to fly the kite. It was windy and so she ha...more

We are huge fans of this series and we read this book right before we went to the beach for the first time (took the kids for the 1st time). I am a huge fan of The Lady Bug Girl series, because of the way it captures my daughter's attention and the messages each book teaches her. In Ladybug Girl at the Beach, we see how Ladybug Girl over comes her fear of the ocean, something she's not seen until her first trip with her family. She's so excited to see the ocean, but once she gets right up to it,...more

Lulu and her family go to the beach one day. Lulu is so excited to be there. She did not expect the ocean to be so big and noisy. So, Lulu decides to build a sand castle instead. She was hot and wanted to go cool down in the ocean, but the waves were so big. So Lulu and her dog go exploring on the beach discovering things like crabs, shells, and seaweed. When her favorite pale is taken by some waves, she has to rescue it. Lulu discovers she is in the ocean and isn’t afraid at all. She spent the...more
She's at it again, biting off a little more than she can chew. Ladybug girl, is off to the beach. But never having been there before, finds the ocean VERY big and the waves VERY scarey. So when both Mom and her brother ask if she is going in she keeps making up excuses.
It's hot and shed love to cool down, but her fear is getting the best of her. So she reminds Mom that ice cream was promised, and she gets a double scoop. Feeling a little bit more adventurous she and her dog ( incredibly rendered...more

A great summer read! Ladybug Girl goes to the beach for the first time but she's afraid to go in the water. Along with her trusty basset hound Bingo, she explores the beach and flies a kite. Finally, she wades into the water to save her plastic pail. She and Bingo spend the rest of the day playing in the water and having a wonderful time.

This was actually the last of the Ladybug Girl books that I read, but I think it was my favourite. There weren't any other children to speak of, so we didn't have to see Lulu bossing anyone around. I liked the message about overcoming fears, and I was glad to see that Lulu's mother was (for once) supervising her child. I also thought the father was hilarious; he goes with the family to the beach, but you never see his face. At the end, he doesn't even drive home... the mother does! I guess lying...more
Lulu is excited about going to the beach because it is her first time. Once she gets there she thinks that the ocean is to loud and strong so she tells herself that she would rather build sandcastles. While building sandcastles with Bingo the ocean takes her pail. She realizes that this is a job for Ladybug Girl. Lulu conquers her fear of the ocean and saves her pail.

The latest Ladybug Girl book explores what courage means. Ladybug Girl and her family head to the beach in the book, and it’s Lulu’s first time on a beach. She is sure she is going to love it. But when she sees the huge waves and hears the roar of the surf, she is afraid to get into the water. Lulu and her dog Bingo spend a lot of time avoiding the water. They build a sandcastle, fly a kite, go for ice cream, and plays on the shore. It isn’t until the emergency of her bucket floating away gets h...more
We love Ladybug girl! The writing is great at capturing a young girl's experience at the beach and the illustrations make me laugh more and more as I look at the details. I especially love the parent in the background picking up a toddler reluctant to leave the beach at the end of the day. Lulu's facial expressions give an insight into her spunky personality and though the parents are peripheral to the story I feel like I know them through the illustrations. An enjoyable book for parents and chi...more
My three-year-old daughter absolutely LOVES Ladybug Girl! She loves them all, but this one is her favorite. This "review" is from her. I just typed what she told me. :)
Ladybug Girl is like a superhero, and I want to be her when I grow up. She gets to go on a lot of adventures. She gets to go to the beach like I did when we went to the ocean, but I didn't take my dog with me. Ladybug Girl got ice cream. She likes lots of kinds, but I like vanilla. I love Ladybug Girl.

Ladybug Girl and her family visit the beach. Ladybug Girl is not afraid of the ocean, of course not! But she's never actually seen the ocean and it is kind of scary. But she really came to the beach to build sand castles and have ice cream and write in the sand. It's really hot out though, and the water looks nice and cool. Should she try just sticking her feet in? If everyone else is out there, it can't be that bad, right? Besides, Ladybug Girl can handle anything!
I know these are best sellers, but frankly I don't know what the fuss is about any more than I do that over "Fancy Nancy". Just not earth shattering classic-forever kind of series.
This is cute enough as a little girl at the beach for the first time overcomes her fear of the ocean. But her insistence on wearing the full ladybug getup to the beach (sorry)bugs me. Then again, I'm a mean mama, just ask my traumatized daughters :D

It might be hard for some of us to remember the first time you saw the ocean. When Lulu, aka Ladybug Girl, visits the beach for the first time the ocean is much bigger and louder than she expected. Luckily, there is still plenty for her to do at the beach to keep her busy. Unfortunately, lots of these activities make her hot too. Will Ladybug Girl find the courage to take a dip in the ocean? Read and find out!
In this book, Lulu visits the beach. But, she's afraid to go into the water. So, she builds sand castles instead.
But, her precious pail falls into the water, sailing off, and she has to get into the water to catch it. She becomes Ladybug Girl to do so, and after that, she is no longer afraid of the water. She starts loving it, and is saddened to have to leave. She loves her trip to the beach.

My daughter's first reaction to the ocean (so big and noisy!) is identical to Lulu's. Fortunately, like Lulu, she eventually got over her fear and learns to play in the waves. This book mirrors her experience, but with colorful illustrations and the names of 11 different flavors of ice cream. It's rare that I'll find something so perfect in helping her understand her experiences and her emotions.

This is another ladybug girl story. This time, ladybug girl is going to the beach for the first time. She is rather scared of how noisy and loud the beach is. She overcomes her fear when her favorite bucket gets washed away from the shore. She splashes into the water and finds that the water is not so bad after all. This is a story that children can easily relate to and also contains components for teaching problem solving skills.
My almost-four-year-old daughter loves Ladybug Girl, and this is one of our favorites in the series. The illustrations are engaging, and I love the way the morals are presented simply enough for children to understand but not in a way that's boring (this book is about overcoming fear). Perfect for toddlers/preschoolers learning how to make their own ways in a big-person world.
Let's try this review again...I love stories that tell about how a child overcomes fears. In this companion novel to Ladybug Girl, the main character goes on a trip to the beach with her family and does everything she can to avoid going in the water until her favorite pail starts to float away...and then it is Ladybug Girl to the rescue. Fun book, fun illustrations.
Lulu is fearless as Ladybug Girl, but like any little kid, new things take some getting used to--like the vastness of the ocean. With her sweet dog Bingo by her side and her mama watching out for her, Lulu learns to love the beach and conquer her initial fear of the ocean by turning into Ladybug Girl, who's not afraid of anything!
A gentle story of a young girl who is a bit overwhelmed by her first trip to the ocean. The story could so easily have been an earnest tale of parent or big brother helping little one Overcome Her Fears, yawn, yawn, yawn, but instead, the author lets Ladybug Girl explore, imagine, and discover the joys of the beach all on her own.
This book does an amazing job of friendship through the main characters. Through this book, the students can learn about how friendship is important and that sometimes, we need a friend to lean on. It also can be a writing discussion about what qualities are best for becoming a best friend to someone.

Ladybug Girl gets to have a play date with the rest of her friends, known as The Bug Squad. After their imaginations take them on some fun adventures they sit down to paint and have cupcakes. During this time Ladybug Girl learns the important lesson that not everyone has to do things her way.
Very cute picture book about overcoming fear of the ocean (which I can identify with as a young girl on summer vacation - still remember first time @ ocean and how the waves pushed me mouth first into the sand on the beach).

this book has extensive vocabulary words for the students to use as a chance to expand their personal dictionaries (i.e. driftwood, moat, retreat, darting). also this book is for coaching a child through a first-time experience. we all get a little hesitant sometimes when we encounter something new, so, this book shows the students that they are not alone in the emotions that they encounter
