Ok. This one made me cry. That doesn't happen often, and I will remember it.

Tate Murphy had a very rough childhood. Being the oldest of eight children of abusive alcoholic parents, she was forced to take care of her younger siblings. She missed a lot of school because she worked to make sure there was food for the young kids. She had to dumpster dive to find clothes. He father often beat her. When she graduated high school she paid her father off and took the rest of the kids with her to raise as her own. Now 15 years later, she owns a successful salon in Petal, Georgia. she looks forward every day to her 'visual donut', Matt Chase. He is a fireman, and the station is across the street from her salon. She loves to watch him, he is so beautiful. She knows he would never even notice her. She's from the wrong side of the tracks, so to speak. Plus she is very short, and is very curvy. Often called fat.

The way they meet is a neat story. he is taken with her almost immediately. He sets out to do the legendary Chase wooing on her. This is a very emotional book. You really get a good taste of what Tate has been through in her past as well as how she is treated by other townspeople currently. No one can believe a Chase would ever pick her, and think she must be only after his money. The cruelty by some people is awful. Matt has his work cut out for him with trying to convince her that he loves her, she should trust him, and that should be together.

I loved this entire series. The Chase family is so close. members from the prior books are always woven into the current story. And Polly, mama Chase? Who doesn't love that woman! Highly recommended to all romance fans. Steamy sex scenes are included. :)

Enter Tate Murphy. Tate's long admired Matt, but he has never really noticed her. Even though she works right across the street from him at her own hair salon, their paths have never really crossed.

Matt is handsome, smart, from a well to do family; his family is respected and loved in the community. Things have come easy for Matt; he's never really had to work too hard to get what he wants. Tate is a pretty, tiny, full figured gal; respected and loved greatly by her seven brothers and sisters, hard working, yet from the 'wrong side of the tracks'. Her parents are an absolute nightmare--her mother is promiscuous and her father is a drunken, abusive low-life. Tate's social standing in the community is light years away from Matt's.

When their paths cross quite unexpectedly one day, Matt realizes he may have found just what he's been looking for.

Boy, did I love this one! Matt was a hero to die for! Sexy, handsome, compassionate, smart--what's not to love? Matt and Tate's love scenes were scorching hot! And Tate, so loving and giving. She practically raised her brothers and sisters, putting everyone ahead of herself, all while suffering verbal and physical abuse from a despicable father. If ever a girl deserved a HEA, it was Tate! I was so happy when Matt realized he was falling for her! And the way his family rallied around Tate was heartwarming--who wouldn't want his family for in-laws!

Matt and Tate's relationship was not without a few speedbumps, including Tate's feelings of inferiority about her figure. I loved that Matt adored her 'curves' and I loved his cute nickname for her. The relationship was almost done in by the town of Petal, Georgia. I don't know if this is a southern thing, or simply a small town thing, but I could not believe the number of butt-in-skis in this town! Apparently almost everyone in the town thought they could control who Matt Chase dated, and made their displeasure known when he started dating Tate. I wanted Matt to take out an ad in the newspaper and tell the petty people in the town to BUTT OUT! I loved seeing Tate's confidence in herself grow; it was a pleasure to see her finally realize that she deserved to do some taking in life instead of always being the one giving.

I'm sad to see this series end; unfortunately, there are no more Chase boys to marry off! I'm hoping that it can continue with the equally interesting Murphy family. Tate does have seven brothers and sisters...(less)

I am having trouble deciding which Chase Brother I want for myself. Although I love them all, I have to say that Matt is my favorite. I love all of the books, but I think that Making Chase was my favorite one in the series.

If I could give this book, heck this whole series 10 stars I would. I loved everything about every one of the books in the Chase Bros series. I am sad, I am done reading and there are no more Chase boys to read about!

Firefighter Matt is the handsomest Chase brother, and after watching his three brothers find happiness from settling down and marrying the right women is longing for a special woman of his own. But after dating every beautiful woman in the small town of Petal, Georgia and surrounding towns has about given up on ever finding her. Tate Murphy gazes dreamily at 'visual donut' Matt on a daily basis from her beauty salon across the street from the fire station where he works, but she’s convinced the town heartthrob is way out of her league. After being hit by a car brings firefighter Matt to her aide and she bakes him some mouthwatering cookies in appreciation, Tate suddenly finds herself the latest woman to be wooed and pursued by a hottie Chase. Matt sees Tate as everything he wants in a woman: she’s curvaceous, loving, earnest, hardworking, genuine, funny, feisty in bed, fiercely loyal and protective of her large family, and is great with kids. He falls hard and fast (like all the Chase brothers), commits wholeheartedly, and sets out to build a life with her.

Of course, they face all sorts of obstacles in their path to happily ever after, like her body issues, wrong side of the tracks, impoverished background, and abusive, neglectful parents, interfering, jealous, coldhearted, b*tchy town bimbos, and family struggles. Luckily, Matt’s a determined, patient, sweet hero to-die-for who loves strong and true, and Tate is a caring, courageous, firecracker heroine who stands up for her family and ultimately for herself too.

What sets the series apart from so many others in the contemporary romance genre is that things don’t end when the H/H declare “I love you”, but instead the stories demonstrate what real couples have to struggle through in order to build a solid relationship and life together: insecurities, self-esteem issues, emotional baggage, effects of abuse, gossip, meddling exes, blending of family, money problems, intimacy issues, and the general fear of what it truly means to take a risk and love someone, which is that it can be lost.

It’s a truly heartrending series about the power of love and family, and I’m sure going to miss the entire Chase clan: spitfire, protective momma Polly Chase, wise, loving daddy Edward Chase, the too-yummy-for-words Chase brothers, and the strong, feisty Chase wives.

This is a terrific ending to a fabulous series...I hated for it to end! 5 stars!(less)

Whats with all the affection too? Honestly, why do they have to constantly touch each other? And I'm not talking about the two lead characters. I am talking about the brothers and how they love to kiss their brothers wives cheeks and hold their hands or put their arms around them and then proceed to tell each other how they're all loved and how they will always have each others back and how they love each other and how they have a family to support them and did I mention how they love each other yet?

One thing that bugged me to no end was when Tate ended up in the hospital because her father gave her another concussion. Both Chase and Murphy families are there to support her. Great! Except for the when Edward, Matt's father, walked in and said something along the lines of, "Well done son, she's great". Huh? You're congratulating your son on how he found such a great wife-to-be when shes laying in a hospital bed and just had her head split open?? Last time I check, when you have a friend or family member in the hospital, you ask how they are doing, not say "shes great!" after she was knocked out.

One good thing about Lauren Dane is that she cuts all the filler out (aka bullshit). There is no wasting time in between scenes. One scene ends, another starts. I have never seen it done before and I did like it. No small talk to just take up lines. But then again with all the I love yous I could be wrong.

I will say that I did enjoy the series but I don't know if I will read the authors other books. I think they are a little too erotic for my taste.

I can't believe this series is over! I have loved every second and all four books are re-read definites for me.

What a wonderful end to the series.

Prettiest Chase brother Matt has had an easy life so far with everything he ever needed handed to him on a plate. He has never had to work hard for anything, not that he is lazy or complacent, but he is just one of those fortunate people who has been blessed in life.

With this last book I was surprised by it. I liked that Tate wasn't the "perfect" woman, that she was more normal, I did get tired of her self degradation. I know her family life was crap and she had issues, but it got old fast. I also thought that at the start Matt was a little patronizing. I found it interesting how many times he had to be told that people would be saying/thinking bad things about Tate due to her family. He just didn't get it, not even after experiencing it a couple of times.

Tate Murphy grew up on the wrong side of the tracks. An alcoholic father – that everyone knows is really not her father – and a mother who didn't care to stick around all the time. As the oldest of a brood of children, she sees it as her responsibility to make sure everyone is taken care of. That includes owning her own beauty salon in order to make sure bills are paid and food is on the table. Family is number one for Tate Murphy.

Matt Chase is the last of the Chase brothers ready to take the plunge. He's stood back and watched all of his brothers find love. He's only just decided that maybe he's ready for it as well. He's a pillar of the community - a firefighter who's trying to make sure he does everything right. When he saves Tate's life, she repays him by making him some chocolate chip cookies.

They strike up a friendship that is enhanced by how much both of them truly care for family. It doesn't matter to Matt that Tate constantly has to have her family around and it doesn't matter to her about his weekly dinners with his own family. Somehow the two families come together and melt into one.

Disaster strikes in the form of Tate's father who begins blackmailing his daughter. Not wanting the Chase family - Matt especially to know what's going on, she suffers in silence. That silence causes both her and Matt to start to question one another. Matt thinks that she doesn't trust him and her insecurities rear their ugly heads as well. Still not being able to see herself as anything more than the 'big girl from the wrong side of the tracks', she ends up pushing him away.

Matt in turn is hurt because he feels like she didn't believe in him enough to trust him. When he leaves because he needs to get his head on straight, all of her siblings close ranks and try to fight this battle for her as well. It isn't until she and Matt stand up for what they both believe in that they realize just how much they need each other. Tate finally gets that she's more than that 'big girl from the wrong side of the tracks' and he finally sheds his image as the last Chase brother not tied down.

There are numerous things I like about this story. Tate isn't your stereotypical 'big girl'. She loves cooking and she loves her family. She loves taking care of those that love her. She and Matt aren't your stereotypical couple in romance novels. She has many of the same insecurities that many young women face today. There are a lot of young women who are taking care of families that aren't necessarily their own. These same women are working numerous jobs to keep food on the table. They are taking their own time out of their day to see to other people's needs, but at the end of the day Tate is able to be with her man, Matt.

It resonates with the world that we're living today. A lot of young people, women especially go out and bust their butts in order to make a home for their families. When they come home, they just want to be with the ones that love them. That theme is above all in this book.

Matt was from a good decent loving family, and it never occurred to him how horrible people would treat Tate especially when they found out they were a couple. He couldn't believe his ears when he heard comments like she was a fat nobody from the wrong side of the tracks. No wonder she had such a self esteem problem. Between her family, and the town, she gets bombarded from all directions. Matt wanted nothing more than to protect Tate, but it wasn't until they were attending the homecoming game that he finally understood what she went through every day. Just when everything started to settle down a few months later, Bill Murphy started blackmailing Tate. He told her he would make the Chase family regret ever letting their son get involved with her. He frightened her so badly that she paid him for months until she was caught. Matt reacted badly because he thought she still didn't completely trust him. When he walked out of the home they had built, Tate wasn't sure he would ever be back.

Tate is such a complex character. She has literally been tortured her entire life, and has all the baggage that comes with that type of treatment. Feeling unloved and unattractive, she doesn't understand how Matt can love her. Matt just wants to love Tate, and make her world better. He simply wants to be with her, period because she makes him feel complete.

Though this was a good story it was not the best of the series. The characters were not quite a good as I had expected, they seemed a little corny with some of their statements.(less)

He's certainly sampled his fair share of them but none has moved him the way Tate Murphy does when he goes to her shop to thank her for some cookies and a thank you note.

But as Matt gets to know Tate and appreciate her strength and unique beauty, he also realizes she's got some big self esteem issues about her past. To build a future, he's got to find a way past some big road blocks.

My Thoughts:

Out of the 4 Chase Brother's novels this one was my favorite. Matt's personality jumped off the pages. I really connected with Tate and could understand her insecurities and need to protect her family and Matt from her father's machinations. This being said it was one of the most *not gonna happen rl* books I've read in a while. Matt after protecting himself from falling in love suddenly sees Tate, has to have her and accepts hands down that she is not a gold digger etc. I know he got to know a bit more at lunch. But why would he keep taking for dates at places where he knew she would be abused? My other objection to this book is that it seemed really out of character for someone like Tate to have sex with Matt so quickly.It also seemed that he moved in with her so quickly..and he really quickly started calling her home *his house*, I would think Tate would have a big objection after coming from nothing and building this home and owning this house to have him so ideally call it *his house*...our house might have worked but *my house*...nope.

However, I will give this book 3.5 stars because I did love the characters so much and adored Tate and her family. I would love to read Nathan's story and Tate's sister's stories. Murphys are a fascinating family. Like a sweet read with a bit of steam, I would recommend this book to you.

As I read I was feeling like something was off, and I think with this novel I figured out what was bugging me. The fights. They are over so quickly, it feels like the Brady Bunch, how they apologize so quickly and it's over and everything is great again. The brothers, the couples, the only ones that seem to last is whoever is being 'chased'. I know not all arguments will last and be drawn out but others would be harder to get over in just a few seconds like what happened throughout this series.

This is a pretty simple read, probably best reserved for a day when you have nothing better to do. Some parts seemed just a bit unrealistic or contrived. OMG! This was so so good, probably my favourite of the four books in the series, but that is most likely because I could identify with it so much. I just absolutely LOVED this installment! a GR friend rated it a 5 but said she could rate it a 6 and i agree!!

This book I honestly don't have the words to express how emotionally friken fantastic it was!!

Matt was by far the best of all 4 brothers! The way he treated Tate ***sigh***

My heart just broke to a million pieces for Tate and had me teary on a few occasions!
