While you won't find any literal knights in armor, the twelve stories in this collection transport chivalry into the 21st century. Mel Bosworth's knights are an unlikely group of heroes: a bathing child, a failed businessman, a well-traveled beard. And whether the dragon is string theory, society, or even the self, Bosworth arms each hero with humor and tenacity to fight i ...more

This is the perfect way to sample the writing of Mel Bosworth. To be entirely honest, I hadn't read much of his work prior to this. I liked his collaborative effort with xTx in SHUDDER PAGEANT, but I'd never have guessed he had the kind of creative genius which produced the likes "The Humble Origins of the Milky Way (boys)." The Bosworth gives voice to characters such as the homeless and children who we rarely hear from and he does so in a way that is both moving and true. He is also quite easy on the eyes.

All the goofy, innovative, and heart-felt charm you'd expect from Bosworth. It's a quick, short burst of a book, a good little place to start with him...though no replacement for his longer books, that really play to his strengths.

Yeah, I gave this book 5 stars.

Ooooooooh weeeeee! What up with that? What up with that?

But in all seriousness, I'm proud of this little gem. It's worth a read. Add some Razz to your life. You'll feel good about it.
