2011 reread: Edited to 5 stars because DANTE IS SEXY AS HELL!!
Kiss of Crimson is another solid read by author Lara Adrian. Dante's story is one of intense passion and love. The chemistry between Dante and Tess is instant and electrifying. From the moment they meet, it is clear from the beginning that they are meant for each other. Adrian does an amazing job at telling Dante's story.

This to me was better than the first book, but you do have to read them in order. If you do not you will be kinda of lost as to what is going on. But it is still a really good book.

I enjoyed this second book in the Midnight Breeds series. The story focus's on Dante (breed warrior)and Tess a Vetinarian Breed mate who despite having otherworldly abilities knows nothing of the world for which she was born. So whilst Dante hunts a Drug pusher whose noxious creation is sending good vamps bad, he meets up with Tess who unwittingly becomes involved in the action. At first unwilling to believe the tall stories she beleives Dante is spinning, Tess finally sees the depth of Dantes l

Very good book. I am liking this series more and more. The thing that I like most about this series is the interesting mythology and world-building behind the vampires. It's very dark and gritty, and the violence is in your face when it comes to humans being harmed and murdered. I think that part is almost too much for me. I love a book with intense action and a dark edge, but I do hate to see innocent people dying, and this series has a lot of that.

This book was a dud. It was boring, there is tons and tons of filler that detracts from the "romance", there are too many clichés and stereotypical romance story moments and it's still too similar in my opinion to JR Ward's Black Dagger Brother Hood series--the difference there being that Ward's is top notch.

I enjoyed this book and thought the characters were well developed, the romance was good, lots of action, suspense and a very entertaining vampire romance with a twist. Sometimes the abrupt scene changes were annoying, but the overall book was a winner for This Reader. I enjoyed the dog's, Harvard's, contribution to the story. And I disliked the term "suckhead" to refer to the Rogue vampires.

...Yeah...emmmm...I skipped Kiss of Midnight and read this one first...and the reason is only because I...ah...like Dante's name!!! (There, I admitted it >_<)
But I absolutely adore him. Dante's love for Tess is so strong and I love the whole "little beast Harvard" thing >_<
Well, there is this one little tiny part that I don't like about Tess though...(Though I understand that there will be times when the heroine will act...annoyingly...annoying =_=') More...

Kiss of Crimson is as good as the first book in this series.
Dante is an italian god... black hair, olive skin, sensual lips... he's a real womanizer and never wants to settle down.
But one night, being severely injured after a battle with Rogues, he breaks in a vet's office to look for some medical supplies and stumbles into Tess.
After that night Dante can't stay away from Tess, although he knows he should because he doesn't want to pull her in into his world.

This is the second in the Midnight Breed series and this time it focuses on Dante, a dark and intense warrior that you meet in the first book and Dr Tess Culver, a vet, they meet accidently (or maybe in a twist of fate) when Dante stumbles into her clinic injured after being attacked by a strange Rogue, he is in need of blood and doesn’t see her Breedmate mark until too late.

The second in what is shaping up to be a fantastic series for me.
I have been off the paranormal kick for a few weeks.... kickstarted again this month with Covet and now have read this one. I have stayed away from reading both this and the BDB series at the same time because of all the negative comparisons from other reviewers. So I wanted to be able to give this series a chance to stand on its' own merits. So I will read this series first then the BDB.

Tess Culver is a veterinarian who is disturbed one night at her clinic by a leather-clad man riddled with bullets, raiding her storeroom. He's no man, but a Breed vampire desperately in need of blood - and he takes hers. Before he can erase her memory of him, she drugs him - and that's when he sees it: the birthmark on her hand that proclaims her a Breedmate, a rare woman who can enter his world as lover and mother.

Okay, I'll get some heat for this, but though I'm not particularly fond of Kiss of Midnight (the first book in this series), this one was worse. It was slow, extremely déjà vu-ish in parts, I disliked the heroine, could never really warm up to the hero, it was slightly repetitive, etc. I could go on and on, but I'll be concise. It lacked substance to me for some reason, it was generic, and bland, while I expected more from the second book in a series, after the whole world-building is done. Unfo

I'm revisiting some of my favorite books in audio format & loving it. What's not to love when you can listen to a book while doing practically anything. Talk about multi-tasking with a twist. With a great book and narrator, the work doesn't seem like work anymore.

I intentionally decided to read this series because a online friend told me it was worth it. After reading the first book I was intrigued but not overly enthralled with the series. To me it seems a lot like the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series only not as good. There are some easy comparisons as well.
The first book was about Lucan who is the leader of the Breed's Warrior Order. Wrath (BDB) is the leader of the race. They are both stoic and rather wounded though there are a lot of huge d More...

I have to confess, as soon as I finished reading Kiss of Midnight, I picked up the second book in the series, Kiss of Crimson. In the second book of the series, we learn more about the Breed warrior Dante. Like all of the other warriors, Dante is well over six feet tall and made of pure muscle. He’s pure sex with full lips, wavy, black hair, and a face that would put most Greek gods to shame. And, he has a penchant for dressing in black leather. In short, he is walking sex. But, because he has b

As a Breed Warrior, Dante’s first responsibility has always been to his team. He and the other Warriors prowl the streets of Boston every night in order to hunt Rogue vampires. The Rogue are those vampires who have lost all ability to think or feel; they function solely by bloodlust. They are a danger to humans and vampires alike.
The Warriors know that the Rogue have been rapidly growing in numbers. It seems that there is a new designer drug named Crimson on the streets that caus More...

Okay, I've figured it out. What I love most about this series is that the "damsel" doesn't fall instantly and "irrevocably" in love. There is turmoil and there is process, angst, drama and eventual healing. It's refreshing in this world of instant gratification, especially in modern PNR novels.
I've loved Dante from the first book, I was glad to get to know him better and come into his world. I enjoyed the introduction of "Harvard" and also of a little More...

There is little that is more enticing than having a ruggedly beautiful Italian male walk up to you at an Art exhibit to plant a breathtaking smooch on your bloody lips. But that is just what Dante does to Tess after a hell of a night left him little choice than to drink from her in order to heal from more than a few battle wounds. Dante's plan was to drink and dash, as he is used to doing with the nameless woman that pass through his life. It is only after he takes Tess's sweet nectar that Dante

The leader of the rogues has found a new and easy way to increase the number of rogues on the street. Dante and his warrior brothers are determined to eliminate the source of the new rogues-a drug called crimson. Along the way Dante meets and falls in love with a vet named Tess. Tess is tied to the crimson mystery in a way she doesn't even realize and it endangers everyone Dante cares about.

A millennium ago eight aliens crash landed on Earth and the only nutrient that could sustain their life is human blood. Some native females were able to mate with them and thus the male only vampire was born. The Breeds don't ever indulge in massive blood taking because it is highly addictive and they can go Rogue, a mindless monster straight out of Bram Stoker. The warrior Order finds and kills the Rogues and while Dante is out looking for them he is injured and ends up at Tess Culver's veterin

One word: WOW!
This is the story of Dante and Tess. Dante, warrior at the core with a curse passed on to him by his mother, he has premonitions of death. As said Dante is a hardcore warrior, until he meets his Breedmate Tess. Meeting her shows him there’s more in life than just fighting, feeding and living to serve the Order.
Tess, fitting the Breedmates, feels different, isolated, left out from the rest of the world. As a Breedmate she also has a gift, that of healing. A gift she s More...

Well, that was much better than Midnight Breed, #1 -- Kiss of Midnight. The last one took me almost a year to read, and this one I finished in a day.
There were still a couple of issues I had. Adrian kind of skips to decisions without having the characters live the moments that would take them there. I don't want to give any spoilers, but there were two moments where I said "huh? What made you decide that?"

I must start out this review by saying that suspension of disbelief will only take you so far. I realize this is fiction but not even in a fantasy world would anyone allow an unrestrained/unsedated tiger loose *anywhere.* Not to mention an abused, undernourished tiger, unless one would like to become the tigers next meal.
