Reading this book today was beautiful timing. My grouchy child asked me to read it twice and the book provided a discussion.

I do have a problem with the line, "the grouchies made me..." as I firmly believe action is a choice. The grouchies can come and hover and press, but it is a choice to let them have their way.

Other than that, this is a great book.

This is a rhythmic story about a boy who wakes up on the wrong side of the bed and realizes how his nasty attitude affects everyone around him. He also learns some tricks to keep the grouchies away next time. My kids love this book and ask me to read it almost every night. I like it too, but it's going back to the library.

Free eBook I downloaded. Very cute book that is cheerful to explain to youngsters how we can all get a bit grouchy at times and how to ward off grouchiness. Next time I'm feeling grumpy, I might just pull out this book to help me get over it and get on w/ my day! hahaha
Tricia
loved the concept of this title in which the grouchies follow a boy through his day and make his (and those around him) miserable. reassures children that they can control their moods.

This would be a great book to read to a child that is having a grouchy day. The visual depiction of the "grouchies" is cool and could help a child turn his/her day around.

Try grumpy bird or when mouse was mad, or pierre or any other book instead. gah, if I wasn't convinced bipolar polar bear was the worst, this might get the medal.

Great book for helping kids to understand their feelings and how to deal with negative emotions. Delightful illustrations, too!
Malerie
Fantastic jumping off point for discussing moods & choices, and also a great reminder for the parents as well. Bravo!

While I liked this book and the subject, I thought some of the text (especially the repetitious "refrain") was kind of long-winded and would be more difficult for a child to join in. That being said, I feel the rest of the book would be very relatable for kids
Mylinh
Vibrant pictures, would help children understand their feelings better and learn more vocabulary about being angry, sad, and grumpy. Good for preschoolers

pair with Grumpy Bird and When Sophie Gets Angry for a grouchy storytime!
