Glenn Gould ha detto "L'isolamento è la componente indispensabile della felicità umana".
DeLillo, con questo breve ma intenso scritto prende tre film (Atanajuat, Trentadue piccoli film su Glenn Gould, Thelonious Monk), un libro (I soccombenti di T. Bernhard) e una vecchia fotografia (un ritratto che riprende, insieme, T. Monk, C. Mingus, R. Haynes e C.
