The book is frustrating. I had high hopes for R.L. Stine's book!!! Really a major turn off T_______T

The book was no fun at all. More like a child's play /sigh/ I was really really really hoping for a major goosebump story kinda thing. I liked the old version better. NO GLIMPSE OF HORROR AT ALL. IT WAS BORING; sorry not sorry.

Shelves: ya-fiction, thriller
This was originally published as The Dead Girlfriend.

I persist in reading R.L. Stine because it's quick, escapist reading, but there are times when I kind of wish I didn't bother. This was one such time, due largely to the awful use of paragraphing in this book. A short example:

"Was Phoebe behind me now?
Was Louis?
I couldn't turn round. I could only look down.
I knew that I was about to go over the edge, into the silently plunging waters.
I knew that I was about to die.
