Serenity has an active imagination, lives a dull life, works for her father's newspaper as a unappreciated proof-reader, and longs for adventure. She meets The Sea Wolf, Morgan Drake, unexpectedly after she proclaimed him a hero in an article she snuck into her father's paper. Morgan has secrets that he doesn't want out, but Serenity finds out anyway and will not tell for she has fallen for him. She ends up on his ship, in his arms, head, heart, and life. Great read!!

The main heroine is super likable. She's very supportive of woman's rights so you basically fall in love with her early on. I, personally, didn't feel that there was much dept to the hero, but he was super good looking so i didn't mind overall.
THe plot was easy and interesting, and there wasn't any sections that the book felt lagging. It moved at a good speed.
What i didn't like was that everything was like a huge 'secret'. Example: His sister, josephine, terrible things happened to her. Or- Thin...more

I really liked Morgan. He was a great hero. I liked that he was flawed, not perfect. The interactions with Jack (from the last book) were great. I will just say that I HATED that Jack had changed his name. All the author had to say was that he had changed his name. That anyone bar his closest friends would now know him as Jacob/Jake Dudley. And when they were in public his friends should call him Jake. I would have gotten the picture. But it was everywhere. Even in peoples thoughts they now cal...more
OK, on one hand I appreciate that this pirate doesn't fit the old stereotypes. But on the other hand, I think this might be a problem. I think readers pick up pirate romances with certain expectations. They like their heroes dangerous and a bit aggressive. They expect abduction, and if not rape (not likely in more current romances) then at least some pretty pushy seduction. If that's what you're looking for, you won't find it here. This guy is more of a gentleman than most of the noble heroes of...more

A woman oppressed by the male dominated early Colonial times, we find Serenity James (a spinster and totally unmarriage-able at 25 - great ... where does that leave the rest of us?) in the office of her father's publishing house. She is a brilliant writer but her place is in the home not the work force.
After writing about The Sea Wolf, a privateer who frees enslaved Colonists from British ships, a stranger appears in the office. It takes no time for the reader to realize that he's attracted to...more

I liked that the "pirate" was an honorable one. He had a dark past, but tried to fix it by freeing American slaves who were forced to work on ships. He never raped Serenity, which seems to common among historical pirate romance novels. That was refreshing. There were a few scenes that made me blush quite a bit, but I'm rather an innocent mind. I am a sucker for pirate romances, though, and this one was enjoyable. I finished it in a day.
In a world dominated by men, Serenity is going to stand on her own.
She wants to a writer but everyone tells her that is not for a woman.
Then she gets kidnapped and taken aboard a pirate ship.
Captain Morgan doesn't know what he's gotten himself into.
She doesn't obey orders and makes him look a fool every chance she gets.
A lovely enjoyable read with plenty of giggles.

I really liked this book, until they arrived at Santa Maria. Then Serenity started listening to the supposedly perceptive Kirsten and became some sort of annoying, dull witted wench. It all ended well of course, but I didn't care anymore.
And where did Serenity's glasses go? She needs them to read, but when Morgan sends her his lovely note she just reads it.

I love most anything kinley macgregor or sherrilyn kenyon writes. the beginning was a little slow, Serenity James a writer for her fathers paper wishes for independence, adventure and to be respected for her writing. Morgan Drake a feared pirate named The Sea Wolf, finds a story in the paper that hits a little too close to the truth be a coincidence. He comes to find the author and see if they know his true identity.

great book !!!
After she publishes a story on the notorious privateer the Sea Wolf, Serenity finds herself kidnapped by the pirate himself, Morgan.
The romance didn't really develop. It was just suddenly, "I love him!" Neither one of the hero or heroine are unlikeable, but they're not really compelling either. There's a long absence toward the end before a really quick conclusion.

Good read.
