Oh Lord!!! And to think I bought all the books in this series (6 total I think)...I hope they at least get a little better because this one was bad. One day I'll learn my lesson and buy one book at a time, but I thought since Sherrilyn Kenyon(she writes as Kinley MacGregor) wrote these they would be good, but this one was not.

Oh my! Jack Rhys, you rediculously sexy man ;)
This book was amazing. Jack is such a great hero. I wasn't sure if I would like the whole 'Pirate' thing. But I was really surprised with this book.
Jack meets Lorelei and her fathers party. He's in desguise. And she is imediately distracted from her boring fiance Justin.
Justin uses Lorelei to try and identify Jack. She succeeds, but no one will believe that the man she points out is really Jack.
Jack is also intrigued by her and quickly devise...more

4.5 out of 5 rounded up to 5

This thirteen year old historical from Kinley MacGregor (actually Sherilyn Kenyon) was a very enjoyable read. I have said before I am a sucker for the "pirate/heroine on board ship" romances, and this story filled the bill. With this type of story, you need a solid, alpha, sexy hero and Black Jack Rhys is all that and more. Anyone looking for swashbuckling adventure may be disappointed, as most of the interaction is between the H/H is below decks, which was fine with...more

eerm... It was okay I guess. In most novels like this you get this big climatic fight at the end where as in this one.... Erm.... The resolved the situation by talking..... hmm. It was kind of a boring book. The action sequences barely lasted and were resolved quickly. The biggest thing that happened didn't even hold the characters back at all. A little jealousy as per usual but all in all quite a boring book, but an easy read.

The pirate with a heart of gold (secretly) is not one of my favored plots. Because, well, it's ridiculous. I mean, you really expect me to think that this pirate, who ruthlessly murders people, is totally a nice guy? (Also, they smell.) But despite this, I still enjoyed the book.

The plot was utterly ridiculous in places, but hey, if I'm believing in this nice pirate stuff anyway, I might as well just go along with it.

This is my first book by this author and I'll definitely be reading more by her! It was a very entertaining story with a predictable ending but the ending had a nice little twist to it. However, I did feel that one of the character's "misdeeds" was not addressed but overlooked in order to tie up the story hence making the ending somewhat hard to swallow. But all in all I enjoyed the book!"

Hmmm, quite possibly the best book with a pirate that i have read so far! And that is saying a lot b/c I have read a Julie Garwood book with a pirate and you know how much I love her book's!! This was my first book by Kinley MacGregor (of course I'm no stranger to Sherrilyn Kenyon!), and I was pleasantly surprised! I did catch her using some phrases that were worded in a way that fit's more with our time, not the late 1700's, but it did not distract too much from the story. And some of the thing...more

I was grinning like fool when reading this book the whole time. Jack is very exciting and witty. The heroine comes toe to toe with him. I believe that I was transfixed by the plot that neither of the two are willing to sacrifice what they want. Imagine, they wagered! A thoroughly enjoyable read.

My first book by this author. Please tell me this wasn't her best. I so wanted to have a spectacular read, but was disappointed. The book dragged along and I often thought about skipping ahead just to relieve the boredom. Everything was too rosy and nothing exciting enough to stand out.

Here's another one where the pirate is more of a gentleman than most "gentlemen" of the Georgian romance. This time the heroine is less of a stock character. She comes from pirate stock herself, so it's surprising to see her trying hard to fit into the society mold, be a good girl, and find happiness in a normal, respectable life.

I liked the characters and some of the emotional situations late in the book really caught me up. Good read.

A fun, fast paced pirate adventure romance story. Some good twists in the end too. It took me nearly half the book to really warm up to these characters, but once I did I found myself really enjoying this book. I had some small issues with our heroine claiming to love her fiancé, but so quickly forgets about him and finds love with our hero. There is also the unbelievable subplot of decorating her private room with nice linens and furniture, and adorning her with pretty clothes that fit...etc. E...more

MacGregor, Kinley (aka Sherrilyn Kenyon) - 2nd in Sea Wolf series

All lovely Lorelei Dupree had in mind was helping her fiance and the city of Charlseton by setting a trap for the infamous pirate Black Jack Rhys. She certainly never intended to let him kidnap her. And she most definitely had no intention of losing her heart to a man so skilled in the arts of love that they called him the master of seduction.

Black Jack Rhys had a score to settle with an old enemy.Kidnapping...more

I really love these books until the end. It seems they just end. No great finish, but a 2 page sum it all up thing. Could have ended better. Oh well.

I thought this book was excellent from beginning to end. Nothing like a cocky pirate and a sophisticated lady falling in love especially if said pirate kidnaps said lay from the hands of her said navy commissioned fiancee.*spoiler alert* I recommend this book and I enjoyed it. Five stars all the way....

Kinley, I am ever your book servant!! In all your series'. Thank you.

There wasn't one single chapter in this book I did not love. The story was touching as well as full of adventure. I loved Lorelei with her surprising strengths. She was the perfect match for Black Jack Rhys. He is not your traditional pirate. He shows compassion only when warranted. Yes, he kidnapped Lorelei. But it turns out that he used it as a weapon against his worst enemy. Even though the kidnapping was not personally directed at Lorelei, it certainly became personal. I loved his sense of h...more

My favorite pirate book to date! woohoo
Cheryl
Good but not as good as her other books.

Occasionally when I read this, I kept picturing Johnny Depp as Jack which probably added to the overall like of this novel. The dialogue/banter is still as witty as in other MacGregor/Kenyon novels, but I just couldn't get into the "pirate" feel. Maybe I've just been reading too much paranormal/contemporary/urban fantasy. This was a good quick read, but I prefer Kenyon's other works.
Siska
i like the idea of pirate
but this hero isn't like a pirate, so soft heart, full heart and compassion, not mention his is not leadership mind
but it's ok

I went into this book with hopes for a good read, since I like everything that Kinley MacGregor/Sherrilyn Kenyon writes. I was disappointed, though. The writing was choppy and the plot was similar to so many other historical romances. Jack was a cookie-cutter pirate hero and Lorelei was so shallow and flippant. I didn't hate the book, and I made myself finish it, but it certainly wasn't as good as I expected.

“Down in the valley, leaves fall from trees, the branches are bare. All the flowers have faded, their blossoms once so beautiful. The frost attacks many herbs and kills them. I grieve. But if the winter is so cold, there must be new joys. Help me sing a joy of a hundred thousand times greater than the buds of May. I will sing of roses on the red cheeks of my lady. Could I win her favor, this lovely lady would give me such joy I would need no other. (Jack)
What are you saying? (Lorelei)
Noble lady, I ask nothing of you save that you should accept me as your servant. I will serve you as a good lord should serve, whatever the reward may be. Here I am, then, at your orders, sincere and humble, gay and courteous. You are not, after all, a bear or lion, and would not kill me, surely, if I put myself between your hands. I love you, my lady, Lorelei. Marry me and I swear I shall never again do or say anything to harm you and I will slay anyone who does. (Jack)”
