This is an entry in the Osprey "Wartimes classes" series. It focuses on US destroyers from 1942 through 1945. The focus is three classes of destroyer--the Fletcher, the Sumner, and the Gearing. For each, specifications are provided as well as a listing of all destroyers in each class. The book also describes these destroyers' roles in battles such as Gaudalcanal, Bougainville, and Iwo Jima. If interested in such destroyers in World War II, this is a nice, brief introduction.
