Wow. Apparently I really missed a good read in Eve Silver’s first book in her ‘Demon’ series. At least I did if it was as good as “Demon’s Hunger” which is the second in the series. Silver’s writing has a gritty, almost haunting feeling. While it’s usually more noticeable in her historicals, I could still sense it in this contemporary. Wizards and demons running around today, battling evil to save humankind. It’s certainly been done before, but S

You know right from the title that there will be demons in this one, and they are definitely those nasty types who are evil, want to rule the world, etc… It is up to Dain Hawkins, a sorcerer, to help keep the portal between the demon realm and the Earth closed. The portal was closed in the book before this called Demon’s Kiss by one of Dain’s buddies, Ciarran, the hero of that book. Dain has in his possession, a demon’s foot that was severed when the portal closed. This foot is very dangerous be ...more

Quite steamy romance novel little to sci fi for me.
Paranormal Romance
Taking a year off because she;s experiencing blackouts, the heroine wakes up on morning to find the hero at the door wanting her to look at some bones he has. TShe knows they're not human bones from the jump and when they're attacked by demons and hybrids, the hero kidnapped her to keep her safe. The hero, a wicked Sorceror guardian, started off a smiling, cheeky guy but as the story went on he became depressed and saulky. I didn't like it. The heroine is a succbus but doesn't know it so she's n ...more

Demon's Hunger by Eve Silver
Paranormal Romance Mass Market Paperback - November 25, 2008
4 stars

Eve Silver, once again, returns to the fantastic world of sorcerers protecting humans from bloodthirsty demons. She seamlessly combines horror, the paranormal and mystery into a book that is well worth the wait.

For those who love her gothic romance, I highly recommend this book as it has many of the same elements to thrill and keep you in suspense. I know I was really thrown at the end. Plus you a

For Vivien being rescued is just the start of how quickly things go from bad to worse for her. She gets propelled into Dain’s world filled with demons, sorcerers, succubus and other creatures. Romancing the Book

This series is about a brotherhood called the Compact of Sorcerers who are sworn to protect humans from the demon realm. These men are immortal and have extraordinary and specialized powers to help them in their battle. And they are tortured souls, for how can we have a romance without external and internal conflict?

In Demon's Hunger we have Dain Hawkin's story. Dain's fight with the demons is quite personal since they killed his mortal wife and child centuries before. So, when he

Eve Silver is a best-selling author, with this book, Demon’s Hunger, following her title, Demon’s Kiss. Eve Silver holds two post secondary degrees. She teaches microbiology and human anatomy at a local college. After school she returns to romance, having found her own happily-ever-after with her husband and two sons.
Forensic anthropologist, Vivien Cairn, has come to the conclusion that she is losing her mind. Her sex drive is off the charts and she’s blacking out; losing chunks of time with no

I didn't read #1 so I was very confused about a lot of aspects that I assume were explained there. I still didn't understand everything by the end. The writing style was good, though, and I really liked the parts where the succubus killed the rapists.

Demon’s Hunger by Eve Silver began at a slow, leisurely pace. Midway through, everything changed. I wasn’t able to put the book down, wrapped up in the mystery and suspense of finding the serial killer and figuring out what was wrong with Vivien.

In serial books like these, the heroes and heroines are often interchangeable from one book to the next. This wasn’t the case for Dain and Vivien. Dain is such a dynamic hero, dark but not dismal, brooding but not depressing, and Vivien was quirky and in

This second novel in the Compact of Sorcerers series is just as good as the first book if not better.
Even though this book can be read as a stand-alone I highly recommend reading Demon's Kiss first for all of the character and background information.
Ms. Silver has again written a fast-paced suspenseful tale filled with romance and intrigue that kept me turning the pages from beginning to end all in one sitting.
Fantastic characters ~ I can't wait to read the rest of their stories in the next ins

This read was between 3-4 stars. I was more prepared this time around while reading the second book in this 'dark' series and so it was not too much of a surprise in the last chapters when things were revealed. I must say though that it felt like this book ended abruptly and that there was not so much action in this book.

I was curious when the next book was going to be out in this series but I cannot find any reference to it even though this was published in December 2008.

I do have to say that Demon’s Hunger wasn’t all that bad. It was still a good story, with some interesting characters, but a little underdeveloped. I wouldn’t be against reading more in this series, but right now, I’m not heading out to look for more. I have other books in my eyesight and this series hasn’t distracted me from them.

First book in a more contemporary series than what she usually writes, and yet, still her style is such that you are drawn into the story immediately. In fact, thanks to her, I've grown to be an impatiant reader. If i'm not drawn into a story by the end of the first chapter, I don't bother with the rest of the book. (with hers, I'm generally sucked in by the end of the first page. LOL)

After reading the first novel in Eve Silver's Compact of Sorcerers series, I was hooked on the new world that she had created. The sequel was well worth the wait. The ease in the blending of action, suspense, romance and mystery is becoming a trademark for Ms. Silver's work. I look forward to reading the next book in this paranormal romance series.

Very recommended.

LATE COMING TO WHAT VIVIEN WAS AND WHY SHE WAS LOSING ALL THIS TIME
AND IT KEPT SEEMINGLY GOING AROUND IN CIRCLES AND NOT GOING ANYWHERE
AT TIMES. INTRIGUING CONCEPT ONCE THE ACTION PICKED UP.

Aweeeesome read!!

The right amounts of mystery and sex. The ending is exceptional: all the way through you are thinking something and then suddenly, bomb shell. What a revelation!

Love it and would recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind sex scenes. LOL.

Pretty good for a free eBook... Of course now I see it's book #2 in the series and I find myself a little miffed, but it pretty much stood on its own I think. :) I'll definitely look for more from this author, and book 1 of course!

Bastante entretenido.

Vivien is way too needy for being a professional and Dain is far too possessive for being immortal.

Good concept, but not very well done.
