I will read with joy anything that Wendell Berry has written. Berry is a native Kentuckian and most of his work is set in the fictional town of Port William on the Ohio River. His novels and stories are often short on plot and long on character development, serving as meditations on the relationships our society has with land. His sense of humor is subtle and complex and the Discovery of Kentucky is a 26 page long wind up to a delightful and irreverent punch-line that weaves in a number of relat...more

Wendell Berry is a conservationist, farmer, essayist, novelist, professor of English and poet. He was born August 5, 1934 in Henry County, Kentucky where he now lives on a farm. The New York Times has called Berry the "prophet of rural America."
