This was a fast, light suspense novel. Nothing really too bad about, but nothing yelled "KeepMe".

It takes places at a summer theater production where a serial killer is at work. Parts were okay, but a couple places were really weak and unbelievable.

It the sort of book where it was a pleasant way to kill a couple of hours, but in two weeks, I won't recall if I have even read it--nothing memorable sticks about about this book.

A little "mind candy" I picked up off the free shelf from the library! I read it quickly and enjoyed it but will probably quickly forget all about it. The book is not a keeper though so I'll be passing it on to someone else.

One odd fact in this book stated one in twenty-five people are sociopathic. Eek! Don't know if that is exactly true but that is a little frightening to think about. When I first thought of it as 4% of the population, it wasn't too shocking for some ...more

After finishing this I have to say the Goodreads synopsis of the book is a bit over the top. However, Mary Jane Clark wove an exciting tale in this story of a theater critic's inadvertent involvement in a real life mystery. She has done a fantastic job illustrating how "art imitates life" as her characters face similar challenges to the characters in the play being critiqued by the heroine.

I read it in 3 hours. Mary Jane Clark just keeps the suspense going, like watching a movie you'll be on the edge of your seat waiting what happens next. This is the first MJC book I've read and it made me want to read more of her books. Her writing style is compelling and fast-paced. I was really mislead, I thought I got the villain right since the perspectives change from the protagonist's to the antagonist's point of view. The story really captured my interest because of the main characters an...more

I'll give 3.5 stars to this mystery thriller. The action started rolling almost from page one and continued throughout the book. There were so many secrets and subterfuges, some related to the killer and some not, that it was really hard to guess whodunit until almost the very end. A quick, entertaining read.

I found Mary Jane Clark by accident. I had read all
Mary Higgins Clark and grabbed a Mary Jane by mistake.
Good mistake, I thoroughly enjoyed reading Lights Out Tonight.
A suspenseful, page turner.....when I am in the mood for
that genre.
Kristin
Very good... Just when you thought who did it, you didn't know at all... At one point or another you think almost everyone had a hand in it.. Then when killer is released you like duh i knew that.. Very Very good...
Melissa
Another late-night thriller. This one I had figured out, which makes me not enjoy it quite as much. I like a book that keeps me guessing until the end.

I really liked it at the time I read it, but now I can't remeber all about it. I don't think it would be a waste of time to read it again.

This one was worth almost as much as the dollar I spent on it at the used book store. Too many characters and needlessly connected story lines with no satisfying ending. Not memorable or engaging at all...
Bonnie L.
Story line was not as interesting as her other books. Lots of characters but not much suspense.
Would not recommend this book.

Light entertainment. A "beach book," meaning you don't have to think very much to enjoy the story.
Marsha
Picked up her books after hearing her speak at a book festival.

TV critic Caroline Enright's latest assignment brings her to a summer theater in the Berkshires where the new play starring actress Belinda Winthrop promises to deliver rave reviews -- and more than a few bizarre deaths.

Part of the KEY News series, which began with Dancing in the Dark, but can stand alone. Fast-paced & suspenseful. Audio version well-done. Highly recommend.
Sabrina
Very easy and fun mystery read. It has a mary higgins clarke feel to it. It has short chapters which kept me reading because the book never slowed down. I was not really surprised at the ending, yes I did not figure it out, but it was not as scary as some that I have read. overall, enjoyable.
Betsy
Why do I keep reading Mary Jane Clark's books? Probably for the same reason I keep reading Janet Evanovich and Stuart Woods -- they used to be really good. I live in eternal hope.
Elsie
Another stay-up-later. For all the clues you're never sure who dunnit until the very end.
Tammy
oops, thought this was Mary Higgins Clark...oh well, reading through it.
Dale
Mindless summer read similar to a Mary Higgins Clark potboiler.
Constance
listening to on CD, very average, but moderately entertaining.
Melissa
Nice easy read but I figured out "who done it" way to easily.
Erica
This was pretty good, but the ending was nothing spectacular.
