This short story was set in the 1800's that is my biggest hang up. I don't care for that period of romantic stories. Nonetheless I thought it was well written and intriguing. I could find myself reading more as it seemed very short and left the reader guessing.
A magical book with a forbidden love. A tale of conflict in doing something for love or doing something that is right. And the magic that is love wins.
Can't wait for more of Kiki Howell.

My only complaint about this book is it was too short! I wanted more! But then that's what KiKi does. She leaves you wanting more.

2 1/2 Stars An interesting short read.
There is something very refreshing about Ms. Howell's style. Often it it reminds me of Bram Stoker or Sheridan LeFanu in its old world narrative. Sometimes it cracked, but she did a great job throughout. I imagine it was extremely hard to hold that 19th century tone and wording. The story was a tribute to the concept of sexual tension. It builds and builds so wickedly. This is a must read for vampire fans.
