This is the 3rd book in a series by Rosemary Clement-Moore. Maggie is a Seer and along with her Dungeon and Dragon best-friend, Lisa, get in trouble with the "dark side" in each book. While Maggie and Lisa's abilities grow in each book, (I hope there will be more) so do their knowledge about relationships on a more "normal" realm.

I liked the way it showed a boy/girl relationship in a way that each character doesn't have to be jealous regarding the other person. More...

After casting a demon out of her best friend Maggie Quinn is ready for a break. Stuffing her first-aid kit and safety pack into her jeep, Maggie starts off to South Padre Island with her witch-crafted friend, Lisa. But as you may have guessed, Maggie isn’t a normal college freshman. She’s a psychic and her vibes are going on overload when they drive through a small Texas county, on the way to their destination. They soon find out that something unusual is going on there. Livestock are being foun More...

Maggie and Lisa are doing Spring Break - if only so Maggie can get a newspaper article out of it.

On the way there, they run over a dead cow in the middle of the road, which damages the car. The closest town isn't too far away, but it's a town in the middle of nowhere - and it takes some time to get the parts required.

While they wait, they discover that something's not right in the town. Animals are dying...and no More...

I haven't read the first two books in this series, but I will definitely be looking them up now. If you love Good vs Evil stories, enjoy mystery novels, or just really miss Buffy the Vampire Slayer, there's something for you in this quirky, one-liner filled read.

While this book's probably never going to be considered classroom-worthy, I'd recommend it any day based on the strong, day-saving, yet surprisingly nerdy heroines and their protective yet supportive boyfriends. How nice to see More...

Maggie and her best friend, Lisa, decide to head to South Padre Island for a normal Spring Break. Just because they battle demons and save the world on a regular basis doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be able to have some normal teenager time, right? Wrong!

On the way, on a dark and lonely highway, they run over a dead cow that is laying in the middle of the road. The fuel tank on Maggie’s Jeep is ripped open which leaves her and Lisa stranded in the middle of nowhere. Luckily, a nice More...

Third times is THE charm in this wonderful series. Maggie's rite of passage into adulthood rolls on at highway speeds in what I consider the best of the series. Maggie ages like a splendid wine, gaining depth and character with every turn of the page.

I should add that the setting of this book just comes alive. This IS South Texas. You don't have to go there, sunburning in your car on a twenty mile grocery run, dodging coyotes and armadilloes, thanking God for the miracle of air More...

I really liked this story and can't wait to read the others in the series. Maggie, a clarevoyant, and her friend are traveling to South Padre Island for spring break. The two young girls are involved in a car accident and find themselves stuck in a little town somewhere along the way. There is a legend of the chupacabra and it seems to have arrived in town about the same time as the girls. Now they have to find out what it really is and how to stop it before they can leave. There are moments whe More...

Maggie Quinn and her best friend Lisa embark on the classic girl road-trip, looking for adventure on Spring Break...or something. Along the way, though, Maggie's supernatural senses go into overdrive and they find themselves in a small Texas town, trying to track down evil once again. As always, Rosemary Clement-Moore's protagonist oozes with sarcasm, but in "Highway", Maggie becomes a little more tolerable of her abilities and the reader sees a more visible maturity all the way around More...

It's Maggie Quinn vs. el chupacabra! Every series needs a good road trip, and Lisa and Maggie's is a doozy. One notable addition is Justin's priest-in-training friend Henry, only mentioned in previous books. Henry adds a nice skeptical balance to our trio of believers, and I sincerely hope he makes an appearance in the next book. Now we have our heroine (our chosen one -- not capitalized!), our sorceress, our hero/knight, and our priest. Excellent!

The second notable addition to this More...

What I learned from this book...hmmm...don't go to Texas? The psychic demon-fighter, Maggie Quinn, is baaaaack. On her way to spring break with Lisa the witch, they are derailed by the corpse of a cow in the highway. Which, of course, leads to a mystery, more horrifying events, and a battle for their lives. As much as demonology, this book is about developing and deepening the characters: Lisa's struggle with guilt, Maggie's struggle with love, and Justin's struggle with the past. Still, the plo More...

Pretty good.
I expected it to be a little better, though, seeing as how the recent two books were excellent. Sure, the sarcastic remarks are still there, the smile-inducing moments still induce the smiles, but what happened to the quirky-funness lurking behind the curtains of, what I'd call right now, monotone? Because that's what it seemed like. I especially wanted the near-death experience of Maggie in the near-middle-near-end part of the book to be a bit more intense. Ah, well. It was pub More...

This wasn't quite as good as Hell Week or Prom Dates From Hell, but it was definitely close. Rosemary Clement-Moore's books are more than just senseless gore, they actually have interesting references to legends and the whole supernatural-creature-killing thing makes sense. The middle of this particular book, however, felt a bit stretched out and some of the deaths seemed a bit unrealistic. The ending also felt too romantic too me--I was hoping for pure demon-slaying mayhem--but I guess the boyf More...

This one took me a little more time to get through than the first two in this series, but possibly in a good way? Highway to Hell has a very different setting than its predecessors--Maggie and Lisa are on Spring Break and end up stranded in the small ranch-town of Dulcina, Texas when they hit a dead cow in the road (doing some major damage to Maggie's Jeep) on their way to South Padre. Naturally, Maggie senses something fishy going on and aims to find out what it is. There are some interesting c More...

The Setting — is southern Texas on the great highway to South Padre Island, great mecca of spring breakers and vacationers wanting fun in the sun. However, the destination is halted in a tiny ranching town with more cattle than people, and a very racially diverse population.

The Characters — are some returns of the favorites from the previous books. Maggie, D&D Lisa, and Justin, as well as a colorful cast of locals. I think one of the things I adore about Rosemary’s books – are her char More...

AWESOME. This one is so up my alley. Definitely had the flavor of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Whedon TV series) at its best. Witty and sarcastic teen dialogue, super pop-cultural references, characters you can really wrap your arms around (and adore)...and supernatural bad-boys to put in their place. Doesn't get any better. And the supernatural elements didn't overtake the story and turn it into a cheap horror/thrill fest - the story was grounded in reality and gave our band of heroes/heroines ple More...

Highway to Hell is Rosemary's third book in her Maggie Quinn series. I read this without having previously read the first two books, but I was still able to follow along just fine (I felt like reading about a road trip vs. a prom or rush scenario). Basically, the girls are on their way to Padre during spring break when they hit a major road bump... a dead bull in the middle of the road. The result is a busted up jeep and a week in a mysterious, desolate town. Eventually Maggie and Lisa figur More...

Of the three Maggie Quinn books, I feel that this is the weakest of the three in regards to character development. There’s still some holdover development from the last two books, but what we find out about the characters—mainly Justin—doesn’t really make any impact or carry weight to the plot.

I do like the main plot set-up of the book. First, we’re finally dealing with a demon who’s not at the behest of a power-hungry human, and it’s also creepy. The fact that people attribute the d More...

Poor Maggie. She can’t even go on vacation without running into something Evil. Maggie and her best friend Lisa find themselves stranded in a tiny town in Texas when they attempt to try their hand at something as normal as Spring Break. However, normalcy is the last thing they find as they investigate the legend of el Chupacabra.

This book could have easily just been a mid-series filler, but instead it was something much more. The story by itself is compelling – a great build up, a More...

A few short months ago, Maggie Quinn defeated the seriously evil demon that was trying to take over her senior prom. Now Maggie's back in Hell Week, and she can't even crack the staff of the Bedivere College newspaper. What gives? I really enjoyed how Clement-Moore keeps expanding Maggie Quinn's world with different kinds of magic and folkloric traditions. The Texas setting really popped on this one and Lisa's redemption arc continues to be interesting. Humor continues to be a hallmark of this series. I only hope this isn't the last one; I really liked the increased emphasis on the religious side of things and the addition of Henry to the cast. It just feels like there's plenty more stories and more world to explore.

Does Evil seek out Maggie Quinn? This is what she begins to wonder when D & D Lisa and she find themselves stranded in the middle of nowhere battling a demon that feeds on blood.

First a dog, then a herd of goats, finally, cattle start dying, and the common denominator is their mutilated, drained bodies. Some blame the drought and think it's a pack of hungry coyotes while others blame a lone cougar. Droughts make animals do crazy things, the locals say. What if something other than a More...

Never ceasing to push the YA envelope, Highway to Hell is a must read for all YA lovers. It’s quick and fun, but without being fluff -- you don’t even need to read the two previous books (although it is advised).

My favorite of the series, I’m still debating whether the ending is perfect or shake RCM and Random House Publishing until they promise to continue the series. Clement-Moore has said she hoped to let the reader imagine what happens next, so perhaps that’s better than perfect. . More...

Great book, third in the series. Maggie Quinn and her friend Lisa are on their way to the beach for Spring Break when they run smack into another supernatural mystery. Maggie can feel a demon at work and the two must help the small community of Dulcina rid itself of a livestock killing menace.

This is a fun, fast read sure to please any detective, supernatural, or chick lit loving reader. Fine for middle-school and up.

'Highway to Hell' is the 3rd book in the Maggie series by Rosemary Clement-Moore. If you haven't read the first 2, 'Prom Date from Hell' and 'Hell Week', you probably should to get some background information. Basically, Maggie is a Seer, she can sense evil, usually in the form of demons. With the help of her friend Lisa, who is a sorceress, she fights the demons to return them to wherever they have come from. Maggie Quinn is a reluctant psychic with a sharp wit and an independent spirit. Her gift allows her to be aware of the forces of evil as they surround her in both high school and college – often in the guise of mean cheerleaders, spooky sorority girls, or Texas monsters. Funny and clever reading.

This book was awesome! The series has action, humor, romance, mystery, fantasy, and this one follows suit. We learn more about Justin and the new demons Maggie faces are still interesting to read about. Plus we meet a new host of characters just as entertaining, or creepy, as ones we've met before. Texas is hot as Hell!

Loved it. This was my type of mystery novel. Let’s call it supernatural, action, comedic mystery. The interaction and the bond between the characters are great. They feel like they’ve been friends and have overcome obstacles together. This really helps sell that they can take on evil monsters.

Oh man, eery fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer should have this on the night stand, as should everyone who s getting tired of this "gothic romance", I'm-in-love-with-a-creature-of-the-night stuff. Here is a gothic horror story with a girl main character, and the big bad toothed things actually bite.
