This book was actually the best out of the series. Though the thing is, Daniel never did face number 1. It just ended after he defeated number 4. I think Daniel is getting rid of the other aliens, so he could save number 1 for last.
Also Daniel has a new power. He could stop time. Maybe the more Aliens he defeats, the more powers he could obtain. James Patterson should write another book(but he is writing Maximum Ride at the moment)

I absolutely ADORE Daniel! I would totally date him if he was a real person. but this book was a real let down. it was WAAAAAAAAAAAAY TOO SHORT! Plus not as good as the first two (which are on my fav book list:)) I felt it lacked depth and i didnt feel as much emotion as i did the first ones. I felt that while Merlin was cool, he was like kinda pointless. James Patterson could have done much better and, if that was the last Daniel X book, he could have made it way longer. i got the feeling he wa...more
The Daniel X books are basically fabulous adventure stories populated by strangely one-dimensional characters. When you find an author using the phrase "...he said, sarcastically" it makes you wonder whether the sarcasm of the character's statement was obvious and humorous enough to be worth adding without hammering a nail in it that way. But, as I said, the adventure and the surprises in the plot itself are worth the read. Experiencing a Daniel X book is something like experiencing a comic book...more
In this 3rd instalment of the Daniel X series, Daniel again finds himself hunting one of the most dangerous aliens on 'The List'. This time its number 3 an alien named Beta made out of almost entirly fire. Like in the earlier books of the series Daniel has his parents and friends help him in his quest. His parents and friends aren't exactly like yours and mine. This is because Daniel has the power to create anything with his mind. This can be extremely helpful in his attempts to destroy the Pray...more
Alien Hunter (and alien) Daniel X continues to work on hunting down the most grievous evil aliens on Earth with this third edition in the series, which seems to be a cheap rip-off of Men in Black with a teen protagonist. Daniel's next target is Number Three on the List of Alien Outlaws. Number Three is a fire-based lifeform, who seems to have a more personal connection to Daniel than he realized. This is less than thrilling for our hero, who has a major fear of fire.

This book is the third in the series of Daniel X by the well known and well respected James Patterson. He has brought back Daniel and his list to once more take down an alien who is wanted on the planet Earth. Not only does this book enhance Daniels power with the ability to turn back time but also delves more into the death of his parents.
When Daniel moves on to number 3 on The List a raging alien made of fire called Beta Phosphorus he also seems to be weakening in his powers. Except for the new...more

This was my first Patterson. An odd choice for a first, I suppose, but it was another ARC Don brought home, so I read it. Initially I wasn't sure what a good demographic for it would be. It's listed as being for ages 8-12, and the content and length of it are suitable for that age range, but the writing itself just seemed geared rather lower. Then an endorsement on it mentioned that it was written "with the purpose of interesting boys in reading," which reminded me that many boys in that age ran...more
Generally, James Patterson's work starts off very nice, and begins to dwindle as the series continues.
I can attest that this wasn't the case with the third Daniel X book
Now, I liked it. It was original and creative, the intensity was there, and we are starting to be able to really connect with Daniel.
But I couldn't give it 5 stars, or even 4 stars.
Why?
Several reasons. It was so creative it didn't even make sense. There was stuff no author in a million years would have put into a book like this,...more

Having read many James Patterson and Daniel X series books, I was excited for this book to come out. I bought this book the day it came out. This book was good it had excitement on every page. The characters were exciting and very relate-able. James was able to put a new spin on the wizard Merlin. He also put a new spin to the King Arthur story. I will admit though I believe that the other Daniel X's books were slightly better, but this one still had me wanting to read more. A very significant p...more
Really not the best addition to this series. The storyline despite having quite a promising plot really didn't deliver at all and like the two books before this the ending was very flat. I would have liked to read more about the dark ages especially about Merlin, Arthur and the dragon but James Patterson just seemed to rush through this part of the book. In addition to being quite flat the ending was also quite confusing and doesn't explain what happened at all. Also the characters despite havin...more
Daniel X demons and druids was an exhilarating and intriguing book full of creative ideas and characters. However the book did not quite have the grip on the reader as it should have, the book it self was very good but it was not as captivating as i expected it to be.
In the story Daniel X has magical powers of all sorts, far beyond the capabilities of a human being, however entirely normal for his race of alien. Yes Daniel is an alien. He is also an alien outlaw hunter. he searches the globe to...more
I enjoy keeping up with the new exploits of Daniel X.; James Patterson created a very entertaining young man and set of surrounding characters with this series. If you haven’t had the chance to give one of the novels a try, here is the backstory from the inside of the book jacket: “Daniel X is on an impossible mission: to eliminate every intergalactic criminal on the surface of the Earth. Using the incredible superpower to create objects out of thin air, he’s taken on some of the most fearsome a...more
This book made me realize that I’ve graduated from children’s books. I’ve read several James Patterson books before but I didn’t realize he started writing youth fiction until I saw this on display. The story is about a teenage superhero that can morph and time travel and is classified as an alien hunter. However, with each alien he encountered, I found it too easy and simple, the way he got out of all his “jams.” I found myself as the reader wanting more detail and more background on the charac...more
ALRIGHT!!! Now this is a great book. It was perfect. This book really deserved the five stars. Best book in the entire series. Every moment was amazing. It had all the elements of the other books but this one was executed perfectly. The drama, the action, the romance; it was all perfect. Its like James Patterson really cared about this one and put all of his magic mumbo jumbo of writing into it. My favorite scene in the entire book was when Daniel kissed Dana right before whats-the-evil-alien's-...more
Daniel goes off to face number 3, Beta, an alien made of fire. Beta is in England and with the help of his imaginary friends and family gets more info on him. he learns how to travel back n time and is reminded how powerful he really is. He learns that Beta puts some of his fire into people so they become his minions. When Daniel and Dana, his dream girl and one of his imaginary friends, is almost killed by Beta he travels to far back in time and meets Arthur and Merlin. Merlin turns out to be th...more
REALLY GOOD! Only 1 problem: this is the first book I read in the series and it's the 3rd of 3 (actually I think there's like a 1.5 or something...to 3/4) You know how when you read a series and you HATE how the author repeats EVERYTHING that's happened in the last 3 books? Well that finally came in handy for me with this book. Where was I? Oh yeah the actual book and plot line! Well this is my first alien book (unless you count Dark Side of Nowhere, which i don't) and I actually enjoyed it! Pro...more
This book is about Daniel X, who tries to take down Number 3 on the List of Alien Outlaws: Phosphorious Beta, a master of fire. Number Three is a fire-based lifeform, who seems to have a more personal connection to Daniel than he realized. Daniel must figure out how to use his new ability, which is to slow down and even go back in time, to destroy Beta once and for all.

Recently, I was marveling about how James Patterson is able to put out several books a year, most of them from different series. He has to be something like superman to put out as many books as he does and not go insane, while still maintaining quality writing that his readers love.
Anyway, about the book... This was a very quick read. I remember finishing it and thinking, "Wow, that was really short." Along with seeming a bit short, it was also very good. I certainly got more than a few chuckle...more

Something confuses me: I was reading the summary in this book, and it doesn't seem to fit. Here it is:
"As DAniel X continues to hunt for intergalactic aliens, he and his friends go to England searching for Beta, an outlaw who takes the form of fire and who killed Daniel's parents when he was two years old."
First off, the Prayer was killer of his parents, no? And second, he was three when his parents died. Am I missing something?
Of course, this will be the first time I've read this book. Let's se...more

With James Patterson's series, it seem like the first two or so are AMAZING but then thay being to get really bad. Like Maximum Ride, Alex Cross, and now, Daniel X. I mean, I first was was GREAT, the second? Meh. But I really had to work to even finish reading it. I was telling my mom this and I said something funny, but true, "James Patterson pops out new books like Amish families pop out babies. It's a job, not an art to him." (Footnote: I did not mean the Amish remark to be offensive in any w...more

** "Demons and Druids" by James Patterson and Adam Sadler (not actor Sandler) is the fourth (count 'em) funny, sad, scary, fast, dangerous, fantastical Daniel X super-powered alien teen fights bad aliens on Earth catastrophe. Usually, his genius brain and imagination generate the weapons or transform his shape appropriately. If not, his long-dead family and four pals, one girl especially sweet, in grown older tangible bodies, pop in and help, deus ex machina. Time travel is his new trick, to bat...more
Best series ever, i wouldnt mind if there was like fifteen or more books i this series. I would love daniel as a brother, i would have tons of fun with him ewn if he just makes me uo from his mind, his powers are really incredible. I've been asked so mqny times and even back when i was little, " what kind of super power would you have" , i never imahined being able to think of something from your head and brin it to life and not onlythay, he can also stop time and he's fast strong, i just wonder...more
Daniel has gotten rid of another alien, this time it was number three. He was the hardest yet but as always are young fearless alien hunter has saved the day. I liked this book because of the time travel element, which put a different spin on the book. He goes back to mythical medival England. Where he meets King Arthur and Merlin which to his suprise are not mythical at all. Also, he gets to go back and see his real live parents before they die. All these things makes this the best book so far...more
This is really not good writing. It also does not seem to be written for very proficient readers. In keeping with Patterson's tradition for his YA books, no questions are answered, there is very little plot structure, and no explanations are given for each superpower that miraculously appears to save the hero (or heroine). Still, I think it will be entertaining for many boys. Probably some girls, too. I personally liked the inclusion of Merlin and Arthur. That was a redeeming point in the book's...more
Hm. Daniel needs to be a little more careful. At this point in his alien-hunting career, nothing is as it seems and nothing should be taken for granted. The ridiculously short paragraph style still works, as does the world and works of the mighty Daniel X. He continues to add to his arsenal of skills as we advance to the eventual showdown (at some future reading) with Prayer. These are light reads....some humor, some horror, and a little ingenuity thrown in.
I am a huge fan of Daniel X, but Demons and Druids, Daniel X was a big disappointment. James Patterson seemed to forget what we loved about Daniel X - the humor, the quirky characters, and the original storylines.
Nick and I hardly laughed at all in this sequel and that was one of the things we loved best about Daniel in the earlier books.
Daniel wasn't his usual quirky self. He was extremely boring.
The storyline had us travel back in time to battle an alien in King Arthur's time with Arthur...more
