The Reliance fast-forwards three years after The Redemption finishes (this is book 2 in the series). It starts out with a bang that leads to a chain of events that I never expected to happen. The "old" characters were still great and the new ones were as well--villainous pirates, ladies in distress, etc.

I didn't enjoy this storyline as much as book 1, but it was still fun and entertaining. I didn't like to see how quickly Merrick threw everything away or how fast Charlisse jumped to conclusions

The Reliance picks up three years after the end of events in The Redemption -- Lady Charlisse is married to her honorable pirate captain, Edmund Merrick, but they have spent precious little of their three years of marriage together. Merrick's drive to rid the Caribbean of vicious pirates has kept them separated. Just when the hope of establishing a family and some stability begins to take root in Charlisse's heart, she and Merrick find themselves caught in the midst of a pirate attack led by Hen ...more

Avast, me mateys! What a wild ride this one be! Slap on an eye patch, grab a parrot, and set sail for a grand adventure with Captain Merrick and Charlisse. Book 2 is every bit as enjoyable as book 1.

What attracts me the most to this series? Besides the hunka-hunka Captain Merrick, I suspect it's the theme of honor and integrity carried out by characters that are realistically flawed. Doubt wars with faith, strength with weakness, in both Merrick and Charlisse...and even in the dastardly villain.

Swashbuckling Romance at it's finest!

The story of Captain Edmond Merrick and his beautiful wife, Charlisse continues in this second book in the Legacy of the King’s Pirates. They have had their share of problems and separations but as the story opens they are enjoying some beautiful and peaceful time together and are looking forward to the birth of their first child. They are visiting friends in the Caribbean, when the town is attacked by a band of pirates being led by an evil monster from their

Truly loved everything about Charlisse in this one, she is tough but also so gracious. Her and Merrick suffer a lot of setbacks in this one and as wonderful as Merrick is, he disappointed me. I really thought he would be more humble when he realized what was going on. I'm glad Charlisse forgave him, but I thought he would earn back her trust instead of pouting the way he did. However, just goes to show that even the most worthy heroes have flaws and deserve second chances. Sloane remains my favo ...more

Oh, just another fantastic MaryLu Tyndall read! Her books are so exciting and deal with Christ in such a realistic way. This book points out that even as Christians, we can fall from our ways but we can always be forgiven when we repent and truly mean it. God is wonderful and will forgive us our transgressions. Amazing.

Captain Edmund Merrick and his wife, Charlisse are quickly separated in this book when the town they are visiting is raided by pirates. Edmund thinks his wife has died in an explo

A swashbuckling tale of pirates, both good and evil. In THE RELIANCE, M.L. Tyndall weaves a masterful tale set in the Caribbean following the lives of Capt. Edmund Merrick and his thought to be dead wife Charlisse. THE RELIANCE picks up where THE REDEMPTION left off. M.L. Tyndall has done a great job capturing both the action and the romance of life on the high seas.

Feeling as if God has turned his back on him, Merrick struggles with the voice of evil inside him, convincing him he must avenge h

A continuing story takes place in "The Reliance" by MaryLu Tyndall where we last left Charlisse & Captain Merrick. Both on a mission together in the beginning of the story, soon a huge tragedy takes place separating the two newly married and finally able to spend their life together. I cannot put these books down when i am reading one! I have other things to do; ironing, work, etc etc..... oh and sleep! part of the problem is the fixes these characters get themselves into!I have to at least try to find out what happens before breakfast, lights out, chores....Can't wait to read the next one! I am though trying to figure out if I should enter Merrick and Charlisse to my family tree as Merrick's factual father is in it!

Wonderful

WOW what a story. I just loved Charlisse and Merrick
Wonderful love story. I was disappointed when Merrick turned away from God,but in the end he learned that God was still right there waiting for him. God never leaves us WOW what an awesome God we serve. Loved the lady pirate. This book had humor, anger, love, evil and pain.

The Reliance is the continuing story of Charlisse and Edmund Merrick. Three years after their marriage, they find themselves in the middle of an attack upon the city in which they are staying. As they run for their lives, a momentary diversion causes them to become separated and in the end, Merrick believes his wife to be dead. Feeling that God has let him down, he turns his back on Him and returns to his old ways, albeit to a lesser degree. While Merrick’s old life threatens to consume him, Cha ...more

it was pretty good. a little repetitious, but I feel that is because there are only so many events thay can happen aboard a pirate ship. there were some very suspenseful situations and some very frustrating ones. Merrick disappointed me, however no one is perfect and I understand why the story was written as such.

Mary Lu Tyndall continues her pirate series with The Reliance, a book I thoroughly enjoyed. I feel like I'm on the deck of those pirate ships , the way she describes everyything.

She is one of my favorite authors and a godly woman. Don't miss this book.

Once again, this is another book by MaryLu Tyndall that I have, and will read over and over again. I can't get enough of her books. Read them in order though, or some things wont make sense!!!

Throughout this book I bawled my eyes out! It is so heartbreaking and wrenching that you almost feel like putting the book down. Several times I almost threw the book away, but there was this sense that God would work through the characters. I absolutely loved this book and the characters. They were very re

This was a good continuation of Charlisse and Merrick's story. When Charlisse is kidnapped by an old enemy, Merrick believes her dead. Charlisse has to take matters into her own hands and keep her, another young lady named Isabel, and her unborn baby safe. This was another great book of MaryLu Tyndall's! Eventhough it wasn't quite as great as the Redeption, I couldn't wait to reach the end to find out what would happen to these familiar, realistic characters and it was certainly worth reading . ...more

Another great Legacy of the King's Pirates book!

The Golden Age of Piracy, the high seas, action, adventure, romance, and the Reliance on God all made for a delightful story.

Tyndall does an exceptional job of weaving in the faith based elements, without it being preachy. Her action/battle scenes are easy to follow and are fraught with high stakes danger. I like the Beauty and the Beast element she used in this book, very satisfying. And she pushed her characters towards their breaking point, but

Another suspenseful thriller about piracy on the high seas and heart breaking romance from Mary Lu Tyndall. I enjoyed this second book about Captain Merrick and his wife, Charlisse. Tyndall's writing is enjoyable and lets you get lost for hours. A true page turner!

Cute and clean romance-adventure. Loads of encouragement in faith... Loved this book.

This is a christian romance that makes that is more than enjoyable to read. Lots of adventure and tense romance it's hard to put down.
One of the main characters coming to rely on the lord after having a dark past was really neat and I have to say realistic.
I would say this is a book worth reading. And it won't take long to read it once you get started.
