What do you do when you find out that your best friend is in prison? If you're Michael St. Pierre, you pack your bags and stage a rescue. And when you find out your girlfriend of one month is in the next cell? Why, you rescue her too, of course. And once everyone's safely away from the resulting manhunt, you try to figure out why. Along with wondering who, exactly, you've been dating. Not exactly easy to do when you're running from all manners of bad guys who're right on your heels...

This is the fourth Richard Doetsch novel. "The Thieves of Darkness" is a continuation of "The Thieves of Heaven" and "The Thieves of Faith". Although they do not have to be read in order it is recommended.
Super thief turned good guy, Michael St. Pierre, finds himself in love after his dies from cancer. Michael finds that his new love, KC, may be as good a thief as he was. After a short courtship KC tells Michael that she has to go on a business trip. More...

The Thieves of Darkness by Richard Doetsch
Move over Cussler, there is a new guy in town. At least new to me, I see that he has quite a few novels under his belt. I will be seeking those out. This is a saga of a “retired” thief, a priest, cop and beautiful woman questing against evil. Sounds more like the beginning of a tired joke but there isn’t anything tiring about this book except you, when you can’t put it down. A classic adventure romp with jailbreaks, legends, evil More...

I would like to do things a bit out of order here. Usually I would say some nice stuff about the novel right away, but I would instead prefer to give that space today to the author. The Thieves of Darkness is my second Richard Doestsch read and I am really enjoying his writing style. He has penned four novels to date and is currently working on his fifth. The novels he has out are: The Thieves Of Heaven, The Thieves of Faith, The Thieves Of Darkness, The 13th Hour (check our archives for this on

Let me just say it. This book is a roller coaster ride. It's a thriller mystery and it is written very well. As soon as one part of a mystery is solved, you find yourself a part of another. It is a never ending ride as well as a compelling read. The main characters are likable and even though they are thieves, they only do "moral" thieving. Just this topic alone can make for interesting discussion, but it was in here only so you can like the heroes and heroine, Michael and KC, in the s

Although I loved this book, I do wish that KC had been selfish enough to leave Cindy to her delusions. The moment that Cindy is introduced and does nothing but whine about her sister being a thieve and does not seem to comprehend that the only reason she has what she has is BECAUSE of her, I wanted to strangle her!!!! Then when she STEALS from KC and joins Iblis, and doesn't want to understand that their father is EVIL just made me want her gone completely. When she says "He's my father, ho

I loved this book. Having read Doetsch's 13th Hour I wasn't sure what to expect with this larger more global story. It opens with a prison break in the middle of a desert and never let up. It truly was a tour of so many countries with Doetsch's writing making it feel like I was there. His charachters are very strong, much more realized that most thrillers. Michael St. Pierre, is a great anti-hero, smart but not pretending to be a genious. KC, his love interest, is fantastic. Not a cliche, strong

I really loved this book. I had read Doestch's last one and it was my favorite book of 2009. I think this will be my overall favorite for 2010-we'll see, with a few months left in the year. His characters are great, he keeps you glued to the page for hours, and i learned so much. Not preachy, just fun. It reads very quickly, but is completly satisfying. Great fun. I'm going back to read the early Thieves book.

An amazing thriller and history lesson on Istanbul- Richard Doetsch has shown himself to be that very rare writer- one who can combine a sense of story, character and historical facts and result in a truly original thriller. To label The Thieves of Darkness as simply "a thriller" is short changing it in a very big way! Itis a jouney into present day and past Turkey- accompanied by some of the most unique and engaging characters one has the pleasure to meet. A winner in everyway and a

Loved the twists and turns, and most of the characters. A couple of the surprises were a little too convenient but, hey, it's fiction. There were also a few things I felt were over-explained or dumbed-down with dialogue, but other than that I enjoyed this fun thriller.

This is the first Richard Doetsch novel that I have read. I was not disappointed at all it kept a fast pace from the moment I started reading it. This was a book I didn't want to put down tell it was finished. I really enjoyed it..... Diffidently a must read.

Unbelievably ridiculous. The dialogue between the main characters in this book was mindnumbingly lame. I found myself laughing out loud over and over again (not in a good way) - it was that bad.

Edge of your seat drama. You'll care about these characters and wish that each one will end up living happily ever after - but you'll wonder the whole way through whether they will.

I was lucky enough to get an advanced reader copy of this book. The description of James Bond meets the Thomas Crown Affair was dead on. I had not read one of Richard Doetsch books before this one, but I will now go back and read his others.

A thrilling adventure in the style of The DaVinci Code, except this plot takes place in several different locales including the Himalayas. Enjoyable ride.

audio -- an adventure almost superhero. I always marvel that these characters do not sleep, eat or go to the bathroom. For a wide audience

Some parts were extremely boring (I'd blame the editor) and the author did not give a thorough explanation of what the mystery was all about.

Fastest 460-odd pages ever! This is the way a crime thriller should be done. Bigger, more competent than life heroes, beautiful women, amazing action--whew! What a ride.

The story, writing and characters are great! I only gave it 3 stars because there is some language, intimate scenes and a lot of darkness and disturbing violence.

I love Richard's writing style and the fast pace of his thrillers. Can't wait to settle in with this one!

It took me a good while to get into the characters. Once I did I liked the story. It was good not great.

I read it in just over a day. it's not difficult and it's not literature, but it is a good suspenseful read. the characters are quite wooden, but the settings are well-researched and the outrageous story even half-believable. a combination of mission impossible and the davinci code.

Great opening and continues to be good until end but looses its charm in the climax.

Reminiscent of the styles of Ludlum and Cussler, this was an interesting action/thriller. There were several twists and turns that I didn't see coming, and every time I was ready for a twist it was there but not the one I was expecting. There were a couple of storylines that were hinted at but never explored. While I would have liked to have seen into those areas more, the book itself wasn't negatively impacted by their exclusion.
