Great book that changed my life and opened my eyes to the signs and the Winks that God sent me every day ,it only takes awareness to follow the path that unfold your destiny
God will put situations, people ,books and everything needed to awaken you to which direction you should go in life hence God winks at everyone
I was so unaware of the winks of God before and sometimes totally resisted them ,being such a control freak ,I always tried to control the outcome ,Now I knew better and trying to be

This is re-read for me, and was recommended by a 97-yr old in my prayer group. What we think of as co-incidence may in fact be a bigger plan than we imagine. When we look at the chance events in our lives, we begin to see that perhaps things weren't really so haphazard. I recall the timing when my FIL was losing his battle with cancer, and our son "happened" to stop in when the ambulance crew needed help to navigate the walkway to the door of their home. I no longer look at things quite the same ...more

The word that comes to mind is "fluffy". This book discusses "God winks" - those uncanny occurrences that point you in the right direction or give you that nod that lets you know that things will turn out okay. The book is filled with remarkable coincidences from business to history, from sports to families. The premise is that if you look for these signs, whether big or little, and they will give you comfort or lead you to the right decision. Some of the examples were amazing, but it's sometime ...more
I agreed with 80% of this book. The other 20 I really disagree with and don't see as God Winks at all. In order for something to be from God, it needs to be consistent with his character and who he says he is and what he says he does. The majority of this book fits that.

This book came to me at a point that was not a coincidence but God's perfect timing. I love it and it still speaks to me.

Great book! Makes you think about how even tiny coincidences are God's way of showing us He's always with us.

What a pleasure When GOD Winks: How the Power of Coincidence Guides Your Life Squire Rushnell is to read. Celebrities are example references in many of the stories within this story. Real life events are the bulk of the book while personal tests and considerations comprise the rest. By taking the few, fun, self-exploring exercises, this author is fully aware how God's wink blesses his life. This profound anonymous quote is one of this book's wonderful life lessons, "We make a living by what we g ...more

This poor author, Squire Rushnell. The very first sentence in this book is "It is not by accident that you just picked up When God Winks. Whether you call it synchronicity or coincidence, what brought you to this book today is worth remembering in fact."

He then goes on to explain that God winks are coincidences that help give us a bigger picture of our lives, especially in the grand scheme of things. That we are all part of a universe that is ordered and designed and all according to God's plan.

Anyone who believes things happen for a reason may enjoy this book. Great stories and reminders about life’s way of working out while also making you think there’s more going on than meets the eye. The author shares plenty of personal accounts of coincidences that are too amazing to be passed off as mere chance. Because of his background in radio and television, he also shares stories from celebrities and random show business happenings that make for good reading as well.
I liked this book a lot,

This book is all about divine coincidence. Squire Rushnell explores how coincidences are surprising, and how we can all acknowledge and interpret the meaningful connections that come from these coincidences.

These coincidences and connections occur throughout our lives, but many times we fail to consider their impact and appreciate their full meaning. Rushnell proposes that readers explore these coincidences, and understand that their source is divine. GOD Winks" is the author's term for inciden

Even though I have long been fascinated by coincidences and interested in the causes (if any) behind them, I was hoping for a little more from this book. A discussion on the possible sources of coincidences could be riveting, but this book was not so much an exploration of contrasting, thought-provoking ideas as it was a fluffy piece written in the style of Chicken Soup for the Soul. That's perfectly fine, I suppose, if that's what you're looking for. Most of the stories were uplifting enough, b ...more

My mom was reading this, which I find interesting, and suggested it for me knowing that we're facing a lot in life right now with family, work, etc. I'm not about to claim it was intriguing or earth shattering book. I also don't find the "exercises" in the book to be helpful or even mildly interesting. And I found myself aggravated by the bits about Barbara's Streisand and GMA... ugh, really?!! But still the premise is a fun one, that "coincidence" may not be coincidence and may be a part of a l ...more

I may give this about a 2-1/2. Why can't we give half stars?

Anyway, I enjoyed the stories in this book, and I agree with the idea that there really is no such thing as a coincidence. When things seems to just fall into place, we can be pretty sure that it's God 'winking' or letting us know that He's there and cares about what is going on in our lives.

What bothered me about this book was the seeming indecision on the part of the author. Was he talking about God? Or 'the universe'? Some unnamed 'h

Demented fanatical rubbish. A poor mans "the secret". If bad things happen to you it is your fault because you did not wish hard enough" juvenile at best. God helps people to buy ponds they want but allows the holocaust. My fave bi,t the publication of a fiction book where a ship named Titan sinks after hitting an iceberg. Later the titanic hits and iceberg - how could people have missed the god winks!

I liked it more than liked it - but I didn't really like it, so, 3-1/2 stars, not meaning that in a bad way, I was looking for something like this but to dig deeper on the subject, but like the book suggests, the book was a Wink for me in the right direction.

Just an FYI - or maybe TMI - but I've had a tumultuous 5 years, crazy, insane, spiritually evolving, soul moving, life changing, painful, extremely extremely painful 5 years, and sometimes I thought I saw some "God Winks"...and if I didn't

I didn't like this book (obviously!). I completely believe in "God Winks", but for some reason, Rushnell concentrates on the experiences of celebrities rather than real people. I know of many people that have had far greater and more breathtaking God Winks than any listed in this book. Plus, this book just reminded me of The Secret, ie the power of positive thinking. Which is odd, because that book refrains from mentioning God which was a big problem I had with it, and this book too, despite the ...more
One does not have to gauge in deep thought to get the premise of this book which is coincidences in our lives are shaped by a higher power. The author shares stories from all facets of life such as death, work, family, relationships, etc. that illustrate these coincidences, or God Winks. I actually found myself skimming through some of them because his point became redundant...which is why I didn't give this book a higher rating. He does offer some good self reflection exercises throughout vario ...more

Admittedly, I am not the most religious person, but after coming back from a retreat and having this book recommended, I decided to try it. This book has truly opened my eyes to the world. I now think of things differently and am finding a reason for why things happen. Looking for 'God winks' has made me an overall happier person, when I am stressed and something good happens, I know it is a sign. This book was very eye opening and I loved it, I loved the real life examples. In my life God winks ...more

I firmly believe that in life there are no coincidences and this book regails story after story of proof of the same. This particular book was a gift from an old, but not particularly close friend, at a time when unbeknownst to her I was experiencing personal struggles. Was she aware of my belief in divine intervention? No. Was it a coincidence that she gave me this book at that time? I think not.

This is a quick read and is an entertaining book with lots of stories, cute, unique and awe inspiring, of how "coincidences" have had lasting impacts. I believe, like I think that the author does, that there are no coincidences and that everything is part of God's plan. However, Rushnell very much tiptoes around the belief in a sovereign all powerful God who has His hand on our lives. Instead he favors a lesser idea of, a "cosmic force" or the "powers of the universe".

I really enjoyed reading this book (thanks, Mom!) and seeing all the coincidences in people's lives. I only have one big question that didn't get resolved for me anywhere in the does the author, or the people experiencing the coincidences, know that they come from God? In other words, what led him to the conclusion that these were signs from God? Did he find any examples of negative coincidences? Just wondering...

I just wonder how many more winks God has to send my way for me to notice? I think God’s winks for me are not meant as approvals but more like to take heed. LOL I believe we create our own destiny for God gave us the free will to make choices. So whatever choices we make in life will be guided and supported by Him. This book is so easy to read and just as refreshing as the rest of his books. I give you another 5 star, Mr. Rushnell!

It was not a coincidence when a dear friend asked if i had read this book. i found it amaizing , now i look at coincidences with different prospective ,every thing happens for a resaon that's something forsure & that's what we already know , but what makes coincidences have a great meaning is having a great faith.

LOVED!!! I have always believed in these God winks and it was quite refreshing to listen to this on audio. I was on my way to give blood as I finished this book and I thought "I haven't had a God wink in awhile." Not 10 mins later, God winked. He let me know even though I was terribly sad (Chuck's anniversary), that he was there. It was incredible.

Probably would have given it 3 stars because some chapters could have used stronger examples. However, after a week of following the tragic news of the Boston marathon and subsequent manhunt, the warehouse explosion in Texas, the earthquake in China, and the nuclear threat in North Korea, I appreciated a few feel-good stories that suggest God is saying "Hi, I'm thinking about you."
